Guestbook comments from the manager

The Aspens is a beautiful place. We loved the skiing (after I finally got the hang of skiing down the little path). The snow was perfect and it was lots of fun skiing with the Mountain hosts. The children loved having puzzles to put together and lots of games and books to read. I am sorry that we accidentally ruined the melamine plate in the microwave and the spoon in the disposal. Other than that, everything was perfect. We hope that we left everything in good order. It was interesting to read the family history.

Reviewer Comments:

We had a wonderful weekend at The Aspens! Greg and Berlene were such amazing hosts. They are very passionate about their home and their guests. The cabin feels very homey and warm with the perfect décor. It's thoughtfully supplied with many practical items - better than any cabin we've stayed in. A lot of cabins can be sterile in their feel, but The Aspens is appointed perfectly. It's a good distance from the road (4x4 a must in winter) so you feel secluded. The ski-in ski-out is definitely doable, once you get specific direction. If you can do tree trails, you can do this. Greg personally taught us how to do it. After the first time, it wasn't a problem for the rest of our visit (and we're spoiled now -thanks, Aspens). We had seven adults with plenty of room for togetherness and privacy. The photos don't do the cabin justice - it's beautiful. If you're coming to the Brighton/Solitude area, stay here, you won't be sorry. Except avoid the week when we'll be returning! ;)

Family Time

  • 5 of 5

The Aspens is a lovely home. It was perfect for our group of 9: Two families plus Grandad - ages 8 thru 75.

The home is clearly well-loved and the owners attention to detail is apparent. The owners were available and helpful throughout our stay. All rooms were comfortable, clean, and well appointed. The kitchen felt more like staying like a friend's home than a rental. Everything we could have needed was provided.

The dining room table was large enough for everyone to eat together, as well as enjoying games in the evening. The only television was in the smaller upstairs study-type area, but we did not miss it at all! We especially appreciated the gas fireplace and hot tub after skiing each day.

Our only complaint would be the advertising of it being ski-in/ski-out. 'Conveniently located near slopes' would be more accurate. It was a bit of a hike, even for experienced skiers.

We will definitely consider returning to The Aspens and Brighton.

Owner's Response: Mount Majestic would like to apologize for any confusion with advertising. Ribbons have been tied to trees from the house to the Great Western lift. This, once identified, will now guide guests to ski from the cabin to the lift and back home though the trees. It can be a little tricky the first few times, but once the trail is known it makes for quick access. Thanks, Carole

We had a wonderful stay at the aspens. There were 11 of us and we fit very well. The cabin is surrounded by trees and snow. It was a nice escape from the busy city life. You can ski in and out although a bit of hiking is required. Overall, a wonderful experience and a very helpful host. We recommend.

We stayed here for a family ski trip after the holidays. It was a beautiful home and easy for everyone to ski when they wanted. The management had the house stocked well with essentials. The management was also good about checking with us to make sure all was ok.

January 15-20, 2012 at The Aspens

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed by the accommodations at The Aspens. It is appointed beautifully with a homey and welcoming atmosphere in addition to being immaculately clean. It has everything a family needs to spend time together. The kitchen made preparing meals a pleasure; it is so thoughtfully and lavishly equipped. The bedrooms are comfortable; having three full baths accommodated the needs of our family. As skiers, the mud room is a favorable feature, allowing us to get out of the cold to remove our boots and coats. It was wonderful to discover that plowing and shoveling service is provided. The Aspens is well stocked from toilet paper to paper towels to soaps and even boasts an iPod Dock.

We have a few suggestions. It would be helpful to have a dish drying rack in the kitchen to handle hand washed dishes and cups. The water softener used in the showers is too strong...it is virtually impossible to remove soap from one's skin. The two back bedrooms are very cold, although ample covers are provided to be warm in bed (dressing was somewhat uncomfortable.) To promote The Aspens as a ski in/ski out rental is a bit of a stretch...it really is hike in/hike out.

In conclusion, the attention to detail by the owners reflects their dedication to family and an interest in sharing a wonderful experience with others. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely and we would definitely consider returning in the future. It feels so much like home we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.Thank you for a wonderful and unforgettable week.
