Overview

Brewster House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 10

If you can imagine the perfect family summer vacation at the sea, you can find it at our bay-side Cape Cod cottage! The 1950's style house is located on a high bluff in East Brewster overlooking the Cape Cod Bay. The views are unbelievable; the vista is constantly changing along with the colors of the water and the clouds. You can watch a storm roll in and experience a rainbow.

We are located in East Brewster, known for the lowest tides on Cape Cod - at low tide, the water retreats for a mile and a half! You can go for a bracing early morning swim, or wait till the tide is high at night when the water is warmer than the air, and it's just you floating under the stars. At low tide you can explore the 'flats' and the creatures that live on and under them: razor clams, quahogs, hermit crabs, sand crabs, snails, minnows, and horseshoe crabs. Families play frisbee, volleyball and wiffle ball on the flats and the bay is ideal for swimming, sailing or water-skiing.

The house itself has been maintained and loved by the same family for 50 years. Although it sleeps up to 12, it has a warm and cosy feeling. You can safely walk or ride your bike to any number of restaurants, coffee shops and stores. You may choose to spend your whole time at 35 Dune Road (you'll find once you're there, you don't want to leave) or you’ll have the whole of Cape Cod to explore!

About Thaddeus Hart

This house has been in our family for five decades. My grandparents looked for the highest bluff on the bay and ultimately settled on this property because it was not only high above the bay but also sat above the location where tide goes further out than anywhere else on the Cape. My grandparents spent their summers here for many decades and now our families get together here in June every year.

Thaddeus Hart purchased this house in 1963

Why Thaddeus Hart chose Brewster

You won't find a beach-front/water-front property on the Cape with a bigger house (3 stories), view ( sunsset and sunrise and miles of low tide flats), and more exclusive beach for the value of this place.

What makes this house unique

Our house sits on 1/2 acre with parking for up to six cars. The view as you walk around to the back deck is breathtaking. The tide goes out two miles every day and this is one of the few bodies of water on the Cape that enjoys water temperatures in 70's all summer long. The large private beach is a great place to relax, swim, and have cocktails during the day and to make s’mores at night.

Charming, Rustic Cape House

  • 5 of 5

Just wrapped up a week at the house, and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The house is rustic, but in a good way. Once you are there, you will be spending all your time outside on the deck or down on the beach. The sunsets, and especially the sun rises were stunning. The bedrooms featured comfortable beds, the kitchen provided all the essentials. The house was clean, and the washer/dryer in the basement were a big bonus throughout the week.

There are a lot of steps between the back yard and the beach, a lot of them. But it is worth it for access to the beach below which was not crowded the entire time we were there. After spending a day on the beach, swimming, playing games - the trek back up the stairs can be exhausting.

It was an awesome week, the house was advertised, and the view and access to the beach was amazing.

Great location, cozy home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved our stay! The house had all of the comforts and necessities. Plenty of space for my family and we loved the ocean breeze in the mornings. The bathrooms could have been a little updated, but we are used to old houses. The views of the ocean were wonderful and absolutely fabulous. And the beach was literally a few steps down. We couldn't have asked for better. The location of the house was very convenient for our drive from Boston and to Provincetown, where we made a day trip. The local restaurants had fresh seafood that was delicious! Although the ocean was too cold for the adults to swim, my kids loved it and had a great time finding crabs and catching fish and shrimp during low tide. We saw oysters too but weren't too adventurous to eat them. Overall, our stay was great and we would definitely come back.

The Ultimate Cape House

  • 5 of 5

The highlight of this beach house is the sand bar that's literally steps away. We spent all day walking out (the sand bar goes for miles), collecting shells, and swimming in the water in early June because of this unique location. Thad was the most accommodating person I have booked with on Home Away and enough can't be said for the house itself, the location, and the owners.

Wonderful property with amazing views.

  • 5 of 5

Rented this cottage for Memorial Day weekend and was amazed by the perfect location and great views of the bay. Property is well maintained, clean, and the owners were very accommodating and available if we had questions. Be sure to check out the secluded hillside seating for a private moment to watch the sunrise or sunset.
