About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bathrooms

Nearly 400 feet of the creek runs through our property. Our beautiful home is warm and inviting. Encouraging relaxation and and a sense of serenity, it is perched over (literally) the flowing creek and nestled under the towering cottonwoods, sycamores and pines. Dramatic red rock canyon walls surround us.

There are three bedroom suites and each has its own private spacious deck and full bath. The living room is centered with an inviting wood stove. A pool table and flat screen TV are in the game room. WIFI accessible, as well as Dish TV. There are cathedral beamed ceilings, hard wood floors and a new open kitchen with top of the line appliances and granite counter tops.

The home was designed to bring the outdoors in with large windows and skylights and 5 decks/patios. A new spa awaits you in our screened gazebo overlooking the convergence of Munds and Oak Creeks.

You may never want to leave the comfy hammock on the deck but there's lots to do and see in the area.

The historic and intimate Indian Gardens neighborhood is gated, private and quiet.

About Betsy Kauffman

Our children were raised here on weekends and summers playing in the creek, fishing and hiking in the surrounding mountains. I love international travel, hiking with my goldendoodle and sheepadoodle, yoga and photography. AND most especially relaxing on my great uncle's rocker on the porch at our creekhouse. Pups at my feet.

Betsy Kauffman purchased this house in 2001

Why Betsy Kauffman chose Arizona

Our family was so fortunate to have found this rare, serene and beautiful spot in Oak Creek Canyon over 20 years ago. We feel is the best location in the canyon with the confluence of two year round beautiful creeks just below us, surrounding mountains and canopy of expansive cottonwoods, pines and stately sycamores keep the area so cool and refreshing. The quiet solitude is exceptional. We feel very privilege to be a part of this lovely spot. Just sitting there brings one a great sense of peace and well being. Living in the desert most the time, we crave the lush green of our creek home. We also particularly enjoyed having the little Indian Gardens Store just across the bridge to pick up coffee and a paper or a yummy sandwich.

What makes this house unique

Our beautiful home is warm and inviting. Encouraging relaxation and serenity, it is perched over (literally) the flowing creek and nestled under the cottonwoods, sycamores and pines. Dramatic red rock canyon walls surround us.

There are three large bedrooms suites each with a private spacious deck and full bath. The master bedroom has a king bed and 3 walls of windows. You can watch the sun rise strike the cliffs and gradually erase the shadows in the morning through the 3 skylights. The spacious master bath features a large shower, spa tub, separate toilet area, heated floor, an antique stained glass window and 2 sink and cabinet areas.

The living room is centered with an inviting wood stove backed by a stone hearth and mantel. A pool table and flat screened TV are in the game room along with a really great napping couch.

There are cathedral beamed ceilings, hard wood floors and a new open kitchen with beautiful granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances.

The home was designed to bring the outdoors in with large windows and skylights and 5 decks/patios. A large, new spa welcomes you on our screened gazebo. There you can relax in the bubbles and melt away your tension, worries and tired muscles if you hike.

The main deck has a grill and dining area as well as comfy hammock which you may not want to leave…except there is so much to explore.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Creekhouse

There are times when life's anxieties seem too much to bare.

There are times when one feels alone as if nobody cared.

From the binding chains of tension you struggle to be free.

Know there's a refuge all around you if you take the time to see.

Console yourself in those moments shared by the creek

Hear the music in its voice and listen when it speaks.

You'll be given the finest gift can nature bestow

A meditative lullaby which is soothing to the soul.

In all living things there's a unity, water at it’s core.

So take the time to listen, not making it a chore.

For in its touch you'll realize, that you are not alone.

The closer you are to water, the closer you are to home.

All of this in symphony with all that nature is

as the trees sing out their message orchestrated by the wind

They often speak in silence, sometimes in gentle tones.

Now and then they will shout at you to get their message known.

Then there is the majesty provided by the sands of time.

Red rock spires and silhouettes reaching for the sky

and all that surrounds you nourishes the soul.

A visit to the "Creek House" is a memory you will hold.

A fortunate visitor to this magical place,

Craig

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

The Creekhouse proved to be an ideal location in a most gorgeous setting for our family. The house condition is very clean, updated and cozy with plenty of room for a large family (we had 6) to sleep, bathe, and relax. The outdoor deck has to be one of the best features of the house. The deck is situated over the creek so one can enjoys the sights and sounds of nature up close. Our family spent many afternoons down in the creek exploring and cooling off. We could not have been more pleased with this rental.

Beautiful escape

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic house just outside Town. Close enough to explore but far enough to relax. The house is perfect for a relaxing getaway. Right on the water so the sounds of the river fill the house. We stayed for thanksgiving and cooked a giant feast. Shiela the manager who lives just down the street was very helpful and sweet! Our dog Carl also loved his stay and exploring the river!

A Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was everything that was advertised - - beautiful, private setting, very clean and well maintained, fully equipped and so forth. Sedona likewise is beautiful - - and in our case, we enjoyed terrific, long and incredibly scenic hikes with our dogs!!!!!!!!!!

This was the perfect place for us to stay. This is a beautiful home on oak creek. Open any window to hear the creek flowing by. The home itself was immaculate and well stocked. It makes a great base camp for exploring Sedona and the surrounding area.

Property Was Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased to see that upon arrival the property was just like the pictures. It is an absolutely beautiful cabin and the creek is just amazing. Neighbors and property manager are really nice and the neighbors invited us to use their steps down to the creek. Coming from houston texas, we were a little nervous about only 1 bedroom having AC. However, we went in the middle of August and it was not bad at all. Nights were cool and we got a good breeze through the house during the day and it was never uncomfortable. My wife and I spent countless hours on the deck listening to the creek and reading and playing with our pets. Would i stay here again, absolutely. Oh....did i mention they let us bring our 2 dogs, very much appreciated. All who read this that are pet owners, we tried very hard to ensure we left no pet footprint. If your a pet owner, please be responsible with your pet footprint and more amazing properties will be available to us all.

The house was just what we needed. I have always loved the creek and this was a dream come true to stay in a home right next to it! The hot tub was the icing on the cake. Would definately come back and stay for another week!

Cooler by 5 -15 degrees in the summer from Sedona uptown yet only 4 miles away because of the protective canyon walls, the cooling effect of the creek and the deep shade of the towering sycamores.

Stroll to the historical Indian Gardens Deli for breakfast on lunch. They offer fresh, delicious breakfasts and lunch as well as gourmet baked goods, and beer and wine on their patio. A real plus for our home.

The location has easy access to many trails, national monuments and parks, indian ruins, historical sites, horseback riding, biplane and helicopter tours, jeep tours, trout fishing (right under the deck!,) swimming holes, hot air ballooning, camping, spiritual awakening opportunities, great restaurants.

Birders find Oak Creek Canyon draws a wide variety of birds.

For the young ones there is the Trout Farm a quarter mile away where they can catch your supper.

We are centrally located only with a 2 hr drive to the Grand Canyon and 4 hrs to Las Vegas.

The funky, arty, reborn copper mining town of Jerome, perched on Mingus mountain is 28 miles away.

Or you could be like us and simply enjoy rocking on the front porch reading a good book or swaying in the hammock and just relaxing.
