Come enjoy your slice of paradise with sunny skies and sparkling gulf water. Take a stroll on the beach early morning, or take a swim in the heated pool or in the gulf waters. Watch the gorgeous sunsets and the dolphins as they play in the surf or just swim by playfully. Collect seashells by the seashore! Famous for shark's teeth also. Swim in the gulf, fish, snorkel, dive, parasail, paddle board, jet ski, boating, or swim in the pool, walk to shops and enjoy good eating while there. Many fine restaurants in the area, casual is the order of the day. Enjoy your home away from home in your condo with 2 fully equipped and comfortable bedrooms with TVs, or watch movies on your DVD, visit museums and more shopping in Sarasota, just 20-30' on highway 41 to the north. Charter a boat and fish out in the gulf with a guide or if you are experienced, rent a boat (across the street) and fish farther out in the gulf.
If Disney World is for you, visit Orlando while you are here. The Mote Aquarium is nearby in Sarasota as well as the Ringling Museum. Watch the loggerhead turtles during this time of year as they make tracks onto the beach at night to lay their eggs and watch them hatch into baby turtles and find their way to the sea. You may see them around our location as they get turned around at times. There will be numbers to call to report the sightings. Very interesting to learn about and watch for. If you are very lucky, you might see them hatch. There are public tennis courts on the island as well as playgrounds for children. Events occur in the gazebo located in the community park downtown, music groups might be playing anytime around the island or on the beaches. There is an active art center here and our own little theater plus other live theater in Sarasota. Many festivals are set up on the downtown streets at various times of the year. There is a group of banjo players who gather to entertain at Snook Haven weekly during the winter season. Snook Haven is located on the Myaaka River where they also have a great tour and wonderful historian who take you down the Myaaka and give you the history back to when the Indians settled there plus you will be certain to see a few lazy alligators lolling or sunning on the banks. You can explore the Myaaka State Park on your own and watch different birds and other natural wildlife as they flit about, climb a tower to see out over the tree tops and view as far as your eyes can see.
You will love this area and want to return time and again as we have done. There never seems to be a shortage of entertainment or if it's quiet you want, you can have that too. It's all up to you.
We fell in love with the entire area here. The quaint downtown is unique and easy to shop or just sit outside and people watch. The beach, of course, was our biggest draw. As soon as we retired, guess what? Yes, we live here all the time now and still love it.
Don or Nancy Eells purchased this condo in 2014
San Marco is on Venice Island, known for their beautiful beaches. This location is right on the gulf with stunning views, large patio area with umbrellas and the pool. Steps away from entrance to the beach.
Short walk to the south jetty, boat launch across the street, one parking spot with the unit plus visitor parking spaces available. Sarasota is a short drive north with museums and theaters and shopping. Yoga is offered at the public beach, a short walk on the beach, good place to meet other people from various states, all beginners yoga.
The location by the beach is perfect. Our teenagers enjoyed the mornings swimming and snorkeling in the Gulf and continued to swim in the pool which is mostly in the shade before noon in summer. And then they would repeat the same in the evening (swimming in pool allowed until 10PM). The beach gave also us adults joyful experience with the beautiful sunsets and the wildlife. We even saw a baby turtle heading to the sea one evening after sunset! Car parking is almost right in front of the front door. The building has shopping carts available which was of great help when bringing groceries and water back to the condo. The condo was perfectly clean and well maintained. The condo is well suited for a family of 5. The owners were very accommodating and e.g. arranged a blow up bed for the children's bedroom so they could all sleep in separate beds. The bedrooms seem to be larger than the impression in the photos posted here. This particular condo had the lanai as a dining area directly in connection with the living room (not separated by a sliding door) which made the condo more spacious. The Venice area is beautiful and peaceful place to relax with lots of nice little shops and restaurants. For more action, it is also easy to access larger nearby towns like Sarasota (Mote Marine Lab!), St. Petersburg (Dali museum!) and Tampa (Busch Gardens!). Thank you Nancy and Don for letting us use your condo for the best vacation we ever had! We hope to be back soon!
This condo is exactly what we were looking for in Venice. The listing is very accurate and the owners are so sweet, helpful, and organized! The condo is clean and appropriately decorated. We would not only recommend this property to friends and family we have already booked another stay here next year. We loved being able to watch the sunrise and sunset from the lanai, being steps from the beach for an afternoon swim, and having so many options for walking. There are many many lovely local restaurants in downtown Venice and we most enjoyed - Croissant & Co, 3 Sisters Tea, Made In Italy, La Bella Cafe, and Upper Crust. And then of course The Crows Nest Restaurant is walking distance from the condo. There are many other activities available I look forward to trying in future stays like biking, kayaking, boat trips etc.
Yoga on the public beach is offered daily.
Yacht club is right across the street.
