The 4,500 sq. ft. house has six bedrooms and four baths, spectacular 360-degree panoramic views and lots of living space for both family activities and privacy. The warm, Southwestern interior has beautiful, quality furnishings and sleeps 18 comfortably. The home and property are tobacco free and pet free. Take in the sunset and the mountains as you lounge and dine on our expansive, 30 x 26 covered outdoor living porch with wood-burning fire place, propane gas grill and 14-foot custom dining table. Relax and play in our second floor 30 x 30 game room with 14-foot vaulted ceiling, nine-foot pool table, Foosball, large Sony flat-screen HDTV with 6-speaker surround sound and built-in wet bar with computer desk. The expansive main level great room/ dining/ kitchen takes in vaulted views of both the Animas Valley in one direction and the brilliant red Missionary Ridge behind the house in the opposite direction.

Outdoors: Take in the sunset and the mountains as you lounge, cook and dine on our expansive, 30 x 26 covered outdoor living porch with wood-burning fire place, propane gas grill and 14-foot custom dining table. On the opposite side of the house off the kitchen, a roomy back deck and play area take advantage of red cliff views. Our ten acres of open land allow plenty of room to roam, and CR 250 is the most popular biking byway through the valley. You are within 2-3 miles of the Bar D Chuckwagon and Western Stage Show; Dalton Ranch Golf Club and restaurant; an upscale shopping area and Trimble Hot Springs Spa. You are only ten minutes from the city of Durango to the south and all it has to offer; and about twenty minutes from Purgatory ski area and Durango Mountain Resort to the north.

First Floor: A large, airy great room (living/dining/kitchen) fills the entire center of the main level, with timber frame ceilings and striking views to the south (red cliffs) and north (Animas River, upper valley, Engineer Peak and more). The great room sitting area includes a comfortable queen sleeper sofa, gas log fireplace and flat-screen HDTV. The spacious, well-equipped kitchen is convenient to the front living porch and the back deck. Two king master bedroom suites (one with gas log fireplace) flank either end of the main level, each with HDTV, private decks and gorgeous views. Two queen bedrooms and a shared bath complete the first floor, along with an attached two-car garage.

Second Floor: Relax and play in our 30 x 30 game room with 14-foot vaulted tongue-in groove ceiling, pool table, Foosball, large Sony flat-screen HDTV with 6-speaker surround sound and built-in wet bar with computer desk. Large windows on three sides frame wide-open outdoor scenes, in particular, the stunning red cliffs. The media area includes plush curved sofa, two barrel swivel chairs, Blu-Ray DVD player and I-Pad docking station. A separate queen sleeper sofa completes the furnishings.

A third king bedroom and connecting bath is situated off the game room. The combination bunk room and exercise room has a twin-over-full bunk bed and futon. A Vision Fitness treadmill and elliptical machine flank two vaulted windows with a spectacular vista of the upper Animas Valley, Engineer Mountain and the peaks beyond. Four can sleep comfortably in the bunk room, which has a wall-mounted HDTV and hallway access to the bath located on this level. An additional stacked laundry set is nearby.

Animas Vista Lodge - Spacious and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The Animas Vista Lodge is a large and comfortable home about 10 minutes north of Durango. We planned a gathering of 6 friends from across the country. Unfortunately, due a variety of reasons, not everyone was able to make it. Even so, the house was very spacious and each person would have had their own bedroom. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of room to spread out. The great room is inviting due to its soaring ceiling with exposed trusses and the entire house is tastefully decorated. The layout of the house is perfect for large groups with four bedrooms on the ground floor and two bedrooms on the upper level. The radiant heat and gas fireplaces were very nice. The game room with a 60+ inch HDTV was a great place to hang-out and because it is situated over the garage, it minimizes any disruption to other parts of the house. Although we did not take advantage of the outdoor patio due to the cold weather, it certainly looked inviting.

The owner was very pleasant to work with and very responsive.

Overall, we had a great experience and highly recommend the Animas Vista Lodge!

The Animas Vista Lodge Has it All!

  • 5 of 5

I just returned from a weekend getaway with 12 adults in the Animas Vista Lodge, and this house does not disappoint! Even with 12 adults everyone had plenty of space, and we could have easily fit several more people in the house.

The house is spectacular, from the soaring wood ceiling in the great room, to the large space upstairs in the game room, to the huge patio with wood burning fireplace. It was too cold on this trip to utilize the dining table on the patio, however many of us enjoyed sitting around the fireplace outside. Plenty of wood was provided to keep the fire going long into the night.

The layout of the house is great. The game room, which is equipped with a great pool table and foosball table, is over the garage. As a result we had people sleeping in the downstairs bedrooms who never heard the people upstairs.

Everything was as described, and the owners were great. I would recommend this house to any large groups looking for a great mountain getaway.

Perfect Christmas Away

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 9 (3 whom were children) for our stay at AVL. The home is absolutely breathtaking and such comfort throughout. You need to bring very little, as this home is well stocked with all the kitchen and bath essentials.

We appreciated every detail given to this home, especially the heated floors- so nice when it's 3 degrees outside!

Every day the owners family member came by to snow plow the driveway and sidewalks. What great care was provided for our safety during our time here.

Communication is top-notch. We could contact the owner any time there was an issue (which thankfully we didn't have to do, just a "got here safe" call upon arrival).

Thank you for such a wonderful stay. We hope to return next summer and see the area green and lush, and of course have a wonderful stay at AVL again.

Such a perfect home for our siblings reunion......

  • 5 of 5

The home and grounds are spacious, comfortable, clean and so perfect. Everyone was able to come together in the great room and kitchen areas or outside on the living porch with wood burning fireplace and huge dining table. And yet everyone was able to have their quiet time in one of the nicely appointed bedrooms. The grounds are well kept, the location is quiet and the views are spectacular. We were even contacted to see if we needed more firewood (which we did because we enjoyed the living porch every night) and to see when it would be a convenient time for the grass to be cut. This has been one of the best properties at which we have gathered through the years. Ann was readily available by phone to provide information and suggestions for the area. Truly a great experience in all respects including the weather which was beautiful during our stay. I would definitely recommend this property to my best friend or anyone else with no reservations.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic family reunion in a beautiful setting. The house is so accommodating with all the different spaces, indoors and out. The views from the house were amazing, and the drive into town was not bad. Everyone could fit at the outdoor table , the 14 of us and a few friends from Durango, over for dinner. It was a great home base for trips to Mesa Verde, Telluride, and a day on the train. Just having coffee in the morning with deer, rabbits and hummingbirds was so relaxing. Thank you so much for sharing your home.

Magical

  • 5 of 5

Four magical days in this winter wonderland. Mother nature provided the snow to start off our families new year. Durango provided skiing, snowboarding, sledding and ice skating to add to the fun. Our family provided the love and laughter that creatd memories to last a lifetime.

In this beautiful home, some of us were upstairs playing pool or watching TV in the large game room. Others were working on the 1000 piece puzzle, playing games or reading by the fire in the living room. The kitchen was spacious and well organized to allow all of us cooking time. The views from the house were beautiful including the large herds of elk that were close to the property. What more could you ask for? Our thanks to the owners who were so nice to work with. Renting this home made our family vacation just perfect.
