I bought this property to work on my artwork. The magnificent views of the lake and sounds of the waves crashing onto the bluff serve as great inspiration.
This house is unique to other waterfront properties in Wisconsin because you can hear waves crash onto the bluff when weather permits whereas houses on smaller lakefronts don't offer such sounds. The house scenic, peaceful, romantic, inviting, inspirational, private, quiet, and serene yet is close to shopping, restaurants, golfing, entertainment, and much more.
8 of us stayed here over the weekend and we now know what it means to live in luxury. The house is elegantly contemporary and decorated with soft earth-toned colors and clean lines. We loved the wood floors throughout the house, the stainless steel/glass stairway, and the view, oooohhhh the lake view is priceless! The house is very clean and we really appreciated the 4 or 5 air purifiers placed throughout the house and anti dust-mite sheets and pillow covers on all of the mattresses. This just shows how much the Daniel (property owner) cared about the cleasiness of this house. There was no firepit at the time of our stay so we suggested he get one. He did and we will definitely utilize the firepit on our next visit.
The area is quite and serene--a contrast to Chicago city life that we are used to. But that's the type of place you want when you are planning a relaxing vacation. Most stores close at 10pm on weekdays so being night owls, we needed to find places to eat after 10pm. There is a 24-hour Denny's, McDonalds, IHOP, and mega supermarket that's at least the size of a football field about 15 minutes away which added much convenience.
We loved how Daniel provided the basic necessities for us and are planning another visit before year's end. The pictures, as nice as they are, truly don't do justice and this house needs to be visited to be appreciated. My invitees and I highly recommend this vacation rental.
My family and friends celebrated my birthday with a long three-day weekend at the Retreat. Daniel was super to work with before, during and after our stay. And we were thoroughly delighted with our visit! The house is just a beautiful as the photos indicate, and fully equipped for comfort and fun. The bedrooms and bathrooms are plentiful, super comfortable, and met all our needs. Kitchen was fantastic and we loved cooking and socializing in it. The sunken living room is beautiful and comfortable, while the family room accommodated many a game of pool and darts as well as some delightful movie watching by the whole gang. The master bedroom and bath are a dream (oh man, that jacuzzi!). We enjoyed the enclosed patio and the balconies, the outside patio and fire pit, the hot tub, some games of volleyball and badminton, and the little patio overlooking the lake at the bottom of the stairs. The cram-packed game cupboard provided a fun puzzle and trivia game. And probably best of all were the three spectacular sunrises and three glorious moonrises we got to see. In short, we didn't even have to leave the property to enjoy ourselves immensely. Everything was very clean, and there are plenty of instructions all over for using the tons of equipment and appliances provided. I can't imagine anyone not loving staying in this comfortable and spectacular home. Thsnks so much, Daniel!
We had a fantastic stay at the retreat everything you could ask for were there. Had my family from Florida and New York and had a wonderful time. Although it's snowed the last 3 days we were there we had plenty to do inside the home that kept us pretty busy. Thanks for a wonderful vacation with family
My family gathered at the Retreat the first week in August. Three 'kids' and their spouses and kids, plus Grandma & Cramps. We all Loved it!! The house is fabulous, the views gorgeous, and the location close to LOTS of attractions. We went to a BREWERS game in Milwaukee, rented a boat in Lake Geneva, enjoyed downtown Kenosha, and ate at some amazing restaurants. Some played golf, some went into Chicago... just an awful lot of good things nearby. Would highly recommend this house for a multi-generational gathering!!!
We have just completed our stay at The Retreat. This was quite the wonderful place to vacation. Located right on Lake Michigan - we looked out the window on occasion and it felt like we were on a cruise with the close proximity of the water. There are an amazing number of beds and televisions and other electronic equipment that we had no clue how to use. However ... we did not come to watch TV or play electronic games.
Our group of 11 have been friends for almost 60 years and gather every two years for this reunion. Dan has equipped The Retreat with most anything you would want. There are games, a hot tub, and every appliance known to man. Another very nice touch was paper towels, tissues, plates and napkins that were provided. The road to the house is not paved so it is a little bumpy ... but once you arrive, it is as if you leave the rest of the world behind you.
We visited the Hob Nob Restaurant, the Chancery and John's Dock for some live music entertainment and would recommend them all. The Kenosha Art Museum with an impressive watercolor exhibit and the Natural History Museum were quite fine, and the Civil War Museum was amazing. We would recommend all and they were in close proximity to the house. The Kenosha North Shore Light House was also an enjoyable visit. It is such an easy drive from the Chicago area. So we would heartily recommend anyone to stay at The Retreat.
The “Retreat” was an amazing house to stay at with my family. It has absolutely everything you want, it’s crazy how you can find such a peaceful and tranquil place just a little over an hour from the busy Chicago life. This place is huge and the pictures are exactly what it looks like…. It’s beautiful and depending on the season, you can get a small private beach by the water just a stairwell away… We had a blast playing darts, pool, board games and just hanging out in the huge outdoor Jacuzzi. This is definitely going to be our yearly family vacation spot, you wont be disappointed.
