4 Bedroom, 2 Bath Cabin Close To The Main Marina
I bought this cabin in 1999, and it was a little bit of a fixer upper at the time. Since then, it has been a labor of love to re-do the bathrooms, kitchen, windows, deck and decorate my place to feel very much like what I envision a lodge to look like - it even has a set of real moose antlers brought to me by a friend from Alaska. Each bedroom has it's own unique theme. I am a Canadian and this place is my way of feeling like I'm back home. I work in Silicon Valley and live in the bay area, and this is my family's get away place. I plan to retire in this home down the road. It has been a wonderful place to create memories for my kids and my family. I truly believe Pine Mountain Lake is the best kept secret in the Sierras.
Doug purchased this Cabin in 1999
Why Doug chose Groveland
Years ago I used to organize a guys fishing trip and we traveled through Groveland each time on the way to the lake. At first I didn't even know PML was here, but I took a house building class, and the instructor talked about building a home here. Then I got interested. I wanted a place that was close enough to the bay area that I could drive up to on a Friday night after work, and had lots of things to do since my kids were young then - PML fit the bill and I started looking. I looked at many homes, but the second I entered this cabin, I turned to the realtor and said 'this is the one'. It had green shag carpeting and a harvest yellow kitchen, but it had great bones and all those things have now been replaced.
What makes this Cabin unique
The main living area of the home has wooden paneling and large exposed beams with wooden tongue in groove ceilings throughout. It is a relatively large cabin (2100 ft.) yet has a warm and cozy feel with the floor to ceiling rock fireplace. As you look around you will notice new details every day. Many of the decorations have a story behind them.

This place was beautiful and we had great time! Doug was wonderful and helped us in many ways! The house has everything anyone would need. Location is close to the Yosemite entrance. The Lake is an added bonus for a relaxing day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thanks for sharing your home Doug!
This property has it all. Great space, stocked kitchen, daily deer viewing, easy access to the park. Nice spacious rooms, clean bathrooms etc etc etc. Thank you for sharing a piece of your heaven with us!
Perfect family vacation spot
Our family of 8 needed a "home base" while we explored Yosemite, and Doug's house was perfect for us. It was clean, comfortable, cozy, well-stocked, and a short distance away from all the amenities of Pine Mountain Lake.
The first day we went to Rainbow Pool, then came back to bbq hot dogs and swim in the community pool close by. Day 2 we spent in Yosemite. The drive to Yosemite Valley took about 45 minutes, but the drive home was a bit longer, over an hour, due to traffic. When we came back, it was so good to relax and cook up a spaghetti dinner for the family.
The third day we were so exhausted from biking all over Yosemite Valley that we opted to stay at the resort and relax by Pine Mountain Lake all day. It was a PERFECT day! The water is warm and the Marina Beach area is well-maintained and clean. There is a boat that taxis around the lake each hour, and that was a fun, free ride for the kids. There is a lot to do on the Marina Beach - swim, kayak, eat, play in the sand, and ride the water taxi.
Our kids loved Doug's house, and they spent a lot of time on the shuffleboard and pool tables. Everything was easy and comfortable. His Roku offered all the apps and entertainment they like too. Everyone slept comfortably, and waking up to deer outside the window was a special treat. Clean-up procedures are easy to follow, and Doug communicated with us very well before we arrived.
We were there during the week, so things weren't too crowded (like the pool or beach). We also explored Groveland, which was very quiet when we went. Mountain Sage Coffee is a must-stop.
Good family getaway
Nice big cabin, good AC and many extras, about 1-2 hours from Yosemite areas. Internet unreliable, otherwise a good retreat for a family.
Love Groveland! The house was great.
The house is just as it appears in the pictures. It is spacious and was perfect for our family, the owner was very helpful.
Amazing house and lake
House is well taking care from the little details! Very nice pots and pans.
Pine Mountain Lake is a wonderful gated community in the Sierra foothills. There are numerous amenities including a golf course, lake, small airport, equestrian center, tennis courts, all close to Yosemite. The main marina is only a five minute walk from the cabin, and it has a beach, volleyball, small sail boat rentals, brand new beach side restaurant and picnic tables - tons to do! The town of Groveland is a small charming town with great shops and places to eat, and the famous Iron Door Saloon where you can try your luck at putting a dollar bill on the ceiling-ask the bartender. Live music and dancing Saturday nights! The country club restaurant has great food and a bar with a wonderful view overlooking the golf course and wooded mountains. Sunday brunch on the patio is a favorite.
There is a grocery store at the corner of highway 120 and Ferretti Road - it is smaller that the city versions, but has everything.
