Plan your Bay Area holiday from this magnificent retreat surrounded by the best of Marin, San Francisco and the Napa wine country. The picturesque large A-frame home sits on a quarter acre of full grown redwoods with breath taking views of the San Francisco Bay.
Step out your door onto Mt Tam’s best trails and walk across the road to hike in world-famous Muir Woods National Redwood Forest. After a day outdoors visit downtown Mill Valley (10 minutes) or cruise over the Golden Gate into San Francisco for dinner (20 minutes). With Sausalito harbor and Stinson Beach surfing around the corner and the Wine Country 45 minutes away, our home is the perfect anchor for anything from a long Bay Area weekend or a month “in residence” in the town that some consider the most beautiful in the Bay Area.
Quiet and serene, our home has many amenities, but the best part for us are the two large decks; one with mature redwoods growing right up through the custom built decking and the other hiding a large, new hot tub in a fern and bamboo grove. Recently remodeled the home features vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, wood burning and gas fireplaces, granite countertops, new kitchen appliances, plush white carpet in master bedroom, teak deck furniture and much more.
There are 2 bedrooms, including the Master with its picture window and view of the Bay, a media room with 48” HD TV that can also sleep two with an inflatable bed and 2 full bathrooms. The spacious loft offers another space to hang out or work (if you can tear yourself away from the views long enough to use the free wireless).
Visitors tell us that planning their stay around Mt Tam and Mill Valley offers a more relaxing way to experience the entire Bay Area – close to the City and amenities, but with the feel of a local resident and plenty of space to chill. Our home is so quiet you can literally hear the hawks as they fly overhead. Come and experience it for yourself!

We enjoyed your peaceful and gorgeous surroundings this past week. Our family enjoyed relaxation and quality time together in this "little piece of heaven"! Perhaps our journeys will bring us back again! 'Til then, many blessings to you and your future guests!
Wonderful property on the edge of Muir Woods and Mt. Tam. Gourmet kitchen and casual surroundings.
We enjoyed our stay at the property. The photos are accurate and the views from the living room are stunning. My one piece of feedback is that my friends and I wanted to utilize both parking spots during our stay and when we parked in the gravel space, the neighbors said they had a "spoken agreement" with the owner that they could use the parking space and grumbled about having to move their cars. It would be nice if the neighbors are warned about guests requesting to use the space - they were friendly but made it sound like we were at fault for the confusion.
The cabin is in an excellent location for exploring the walking trails around Muir Woods. The area is secluded and while there were a lot of other houses around, we rarely saw anyone else.
We stayed the week before Christmas and found the cabin was quite cold and the heating not working effectively. The spa controls were not functional either so we couldn't increase the water temperature. It would be great in spring/summer but a little cold for winter use.
The positives (and these far out weight any negatives)
Amazing location: 10-15 minute drive to Mt Tam or Muir Woods. We went to Mt Tam and then took an amazing hike to Stinson Beach.
You can also drive to the Beach, park your car, and hike and then come to the beach.
The home is warm and inviting. You are truly in the woods and the view from the living room is truly spectacular.
Kitchen was modern
Place felt secure and secluded.
As furnished, this home if NOT for 6 adults (as we were)
The TV room has one small couch and we it was hard to be comfortable while we all tried to watch TV
The living room was also tight for 6 adults and needs at least another couch. Dining room was small and had only 4 seats.
4 adults would be fine
a family of 4-5 as well.
Nice get away less than 30 minutes from Oakland or SF.
-we had a great time
-great location very close to Muir Woods
-nice view from porch
- the place could use a little attention. It was clean but it was clear that it has been a rental for sometime and has endured some wear and tear.
We had a wonderful 2 day stay. We were there with our two grown children and it was very comfortable. Felt like we were in a tree house! Loved having a fire at the end of a long day sightseeing.
My only suggestion is to be in before dark. The road up the mountain can be a bit scary. Also make sure you bring your own toiletries. There were none Available.
Other than that we really loved it!!
