About Suzanne

After 27 years in the Canadian Army, 3 tours in Afghanistan and Croatia and a 3 year at Peterson AFB working for NORAD, it was time to slow down and enjoy life and what Colorado has to offer. Could not think of a better place than Manitou Springs with all the fantastic outdoor venues as well as this historic boarding house that has been an exciting and artistic project to restore in the last 3 years.

Suzanne purchased this house in 2011

Why Suzanne chose Colorado Springs

Yes! Like many others, I fell in love with Manitou Springs. I feel incredibly fortunate to have created a mountain heaven that allows me to indulge in all the activities I enjoy on a regular basis, including hiking up the Incline or Barr Trail, mountain biking at Red Rock Canyon, cycling loops around the Garden of the Gods or taking a stroll in downtown Manitou Springs and enjoying the art community and the great food of our local restaurants.

What makes this house unique

The house is the best place for people watching as hikers and runners make their way up Pikes Peak and the Incline. It is also the ideal place if you want to hike up the many trails around the house, take the COG train to the top of Pikes Peak or avoid the traffic and take the free shuttle to downtown Manitou and enjoy the various eateries and shops.

Beautiful home, Wonderful Host!

  • 5 of 5

Our family just spent Spring Break at Mt. Manitou. We absolutely LOVED this home! It was comfortable, clean, well supplied and the location was just perfect. We climbed The Incline (a stone's throw from the house) and even walked down the hill to the Manitou Springs shops. Personally we enjoyed The Manitou Brewing Co for lunch and the Penny Arcade for the kids. You have to try the Pikes Peak chocolate and ice cream. We thank Suzanne for making us feel so welcomed in her home and providing all the personal touches throughout the home. It was greatly appreciated!

Wonderful home!

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the most beautiful homes I have stayed at! Very nice interior furniture, appliances, and extras! Suzanne really thought of everything to make this a home away from home for her guests! We were very comfortable in the home with 6 people, could easily accommodate more. We enjoyed sitting on the patio people watching. We hiked the Incline (just up the hill) and trails behind the home and across the street. The house is within 10-30 minutes of several other attractions in Colorado Springs. We will be back in the future!

We recently spent 2 fabulous nights in this beautiful home. The location is ideal for everything you want to do in Manitou Springs, just steps from the cog railway, steps away from the incline and a quick downhill stroll into town. If you prefer, there is a bus that is easy to catch right across the street. There is plenty of off street parking so you never have to worry about where to park.

The house is magnificent. Suzanne did an amazing job recreating a gem, right down to each and every decoration. The photos don't do this home justice! The rooms are spacious and well thought out. Everything is immaculate, you feel right at home the minute you step in. I particularly love the fact that the kitchen is well stocked, with cooking utensils AND spices and oils. No need to drag those items on your vacation. She had coffee, creamer, condiments and even butter available. My particular favorite was the milk frother to enjoy a latte right at home ... on the beautiful front porch. I was extremely pleased to use the gas grill for several meals ... there was even an extra propane tank waiting in case you run out!

Suzanne is a delight to work with. She gave us some valuable insights on activities and was more than willing to help out in any way.

I do have one regret about our stay ....

I wish it was longer!

The house had plenty of space for family time. The kitchen was a great gathering place.

Decorated so beautifully, charming bedrooms and bathrooms. Lots of space to relax. We even enjoyed the deck of cards and the Smart TV. The trail leading up the hill was a fun treat. We enjoyed the outdoor furniture and watching the hikers. Couldn't have asked for a better place to call home for a few days.

Great time. Very comfortable.

Very cozy and comfortable. Lovely house! Lot of special touches. All the beds (including the murphy bed) were very comfortable. Our group of 8 ladies loved the furnishings and detail of the decor.

Suggestions to improve are minimal. I'd place a copy of check in/out times along with any other information so guests have a reference copy available.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the comments and suggestion. Although the information is in the binder, it is a great idea to have it displayed in a more conspicuous location. I am glad you enjoyed your stay.

Beautiful house! Incredible location at the foot of The Incline.

  • 5 of 5

Suzanne is the most hospitable host we've ever had. From the personalized welcome card to the candy in the old fashioned dispensers to a fully equipped kitchen, she thought of everything. She was also instantly available for questions.

The heated floors throughout the house were a luxury.

Though we didn't have any little kids, we were impressed by the huge amount of toys, books (we had fun reading the Dr. Seuss tongue-twisters), even tiny chairs and a crib.

We would highly recommend this house to anyone!
