About Suzanne

After 27 years in the Canadian Army, 3 tours in Afghanistan and Croatia and a 3 year at Peterson AFB working for NORAD, it was time to slow down and enjoy life and what Colorado has to offer. Could not think of a better place than Manitou Springs with all the fantastic outdoor venues as well as this historic boarding house that has been an exciting and artistic project to restore in the last 3 years.

Suzanne purchased this house in 2011

Why Suzanne chose Manitou Springs

Yes! Like many others, I fell in love with Manitou Springs. I feel incredibly fortunate to have created a mountain heaven that allows me to indulge in all the activities I enjoy on a regular basis, including hiking up the Incline or Barr Trail, mountain biking at Red Rock Canyon, cycling loops around the Garden of the Gods or taking a stroll in downtown Manitou Springs and enjoying the art community and the great food of our local restaurants.

What makes this house unique

The house is the best place for people watching as hikers and runners make their way up Pikes Peak and the Incline. It is also the ideal place if you want to hike up the many trails around the house, take the COG train to the top of Pikes Peak or avoid the traffic and take the free shuttle to downtown Manitou and enjoy the various eateries and shops.

Wonderful experience. Suzanne was very welcoming, she came by herself to shovel the snow! She also helped us to figure out a wonderful coffee maker, everyone really enjoyed the coffee. This is the second time we stay at this house and the second time it feels like home. Definitely want to come back. Suzanne, thank you so much! I really enjoyed my birthday. Everybody loved the house.

Colorado Springs, Colorado

Oh, the fun we had - and so will you!

  • 5 of 5

We have been traveling throughout Colorado and stayed with HomeAway properties for many years, but this property, and our hostess, were more than we expected. The house wasn't just clean, it was pristine. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen well stocked and appointed. The stairs to the upstairs bedrooms were canted just the right amount and easily climbed by our 60-80 age group. An easy walk to the convenient shuttle to get back and forth to Manitou, was a plus for sure. We certainly enjoyed the evening at the Iron Chateau across the street for a dinner and fun melodrama and folio. Although we spent considerable time in the house playing bridge and talking, there was easy access to the Incline and Bar Trail for vertical hiking! All of us give the property a thumbs up. Thanks, Suzanne for a wonderful place for us to stay.

Perfect Home Away from Home!

  • 5 of 5

Suzanne made our stay a very memorable one. She had everything we needed, from baby gates to keep the little ones safe, toys, games, books, to everything you need in a kitchen and then some. This house is very clean and beautiful. Words are not enough to describe this house. It is simply amazing. We had a wonderful time. Thank you, Suzanne, for letting us stay in your beautiful home. You are by far the best Hostess anyone can ask for.

Great place by the incline and short walk or free shuttle into manitou.

  • 5 of 5

Place is exactly as advertised. Older home that has been beautifully rehabbed. It’s decorated beautifully and well appointed. Wonderful front porch and side patios on which to hang out and watch the many people heading to the incline which is about 200 yds up the road. Great location if your interested in heading up the incline or Barr trail, but also a quick 1/2 mile walk or free shuttle into town (manitou springs). Manitou springs is a great little front range mountain town with a good restaurant, bar, coffee and ice cream, and shopping scene.

Upon reserving, owner Suzanne was quick to provide info about the home, location and check-in and was quick to respond to questions. During our stay she checked in immediately to ensure we were comfortable and not in need of anything. Info and directions are provided by Suzanne throughout house on on-site parking, cable, WiFi and manitou. Home had everything you’d need for your stay down to fully appt’d kitchen, grill, paper products and soaps and shampoo. Only thing we had to buy was laundry soap for washer/dryer though I wouldn’t doubt we just didn’t look for it in house.

Great home. We highly recommend it if your looking for a well appointed home that comfortably sleeps 8 in this great area.

Stayed here for a week with my entire family. Our stay here was relaxing and memorable. No need to bring anything extra. She has you covered for everything. Kitchen supplies, games, cards, towels, lotions, dog bowls, leashes, even baby gates and play pens! And plenty of coffee! We absolutely loved it here! The location is perfect for shopping and hiking. Both are readily available in just a few steps! Stay here if you are coming to the area. You will be happy you did!
