Great house for a big group.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time calling this house home base. We climbed all day in Rumney and then came back and enjoyed group meals together every night. Kelly was a responsive and accomadating host. We will definitely be returning!!

Great place for large groups

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean and large enough for everyone in our group. Had lots of bathrooms and several spacious areas to hang out as a group. It was easy to get in touch with the owner and she always responded to my questions promptly. During our stay I did not need to contact her for anything, but it was nice to know she was available if we needed her. The house was clean and we loved that you were able to leave the bags of trash on the premises instead of lugging them in the car to a dumping station. The only complaint some of my group had was that it was hot. There is only AC in two bedrooms and the rooms upstairs got a bit warm. Overall, great experience and I would certainly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Margaret and family, for being great guests. When the home was built, central air was unheard of in our area but, sadly, things on the planet are heating up. We appreciate the feedback and are considering all the ways we can make guests more comfortable!

Nice beautiful cozy peaceful place

  • 5 of 5

The 12 of us stayed at this wonderful place for a long weekend. Kelly was extremely accommodating, she kindly answered all our questions about the place and the amenities (she actually went and took a picture of something we were asking about!) and was very clear both in the communications on the listing. The pictures and the description are very accurate, a nice booklet (which I loved personally!) awaits you on the counter in the house and goes into details of whatever you need to know (how to dispose garbage, the wireless password, TV/stereo setup, etc,). Kelly was very flexible when it came to checking in/out hours.

The place is big, (6 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms) and could easily fit all of us for meals, or just getting together. The kitchen is supplied with whatever you can think of, the stove, fridge, oven, etc all are in perfect working order. Towels (for taking a shower and for out of house use) are provided. The scenery around the property is great, you are 20-30 minutes away from hikes, lakes etc.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back if we visit NH again. :)

Great Home

  • 5 of 5

Great Home for relaxing vacation stay. All the rooms are extremely inviting and super comfortable. Kelly was extremely accommodating and very helpful. She was also very sensitive to our family's special needs. We hope to be able to stay here again. Location is also midway between mountains and lakes.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review! We were very fortunate to have this wonderful family, as well as two other families this summer, stay in our home. When you enjoy so many important moments as a family in your home and you decide to share it with others, your hope is that they will care for it it as you do and enjoy special times of their own. Our guests through HomeAway and its related entities have exceeded our expectations and we hope they will come back again! -Kelly

About The Mullen Family c/o Kelly Mullen Wieser

After living nearby in a home we built in 1973, we constructed this home in 1988 when our children were 14, 12, 9 and 7. We spend the summers on an island on Lake Winnipesaukee so we like to make it available to others while we are not there to enjoy it. We have made many memories in this home and will continue to do so. We hope you will, too!

The Mullen Family c/o Kelly Mullen Wieser purchased this house in 1988

Why The Mullen Family c/o Kelly Mullen Wieser chose Campton

We came here when we first were married 45 years ago and love living at the gateway to New Hampshire's White Mountains where we are so close to all that the four seasons in the mountains and lakes have to offer. We have been in the real estate development business in this area for almost 45 years.

What makes this house unique

When we first built in this neighborhood, many of our close friends and business associates built here as well. Many of them have moved on to other locations but we still enjoy the neighbors we have as well as the quiet, security and privacy this location provides. Our oldest daughter and her family live just around the corner and are available to assist or answer questions quickly.

We are situated in the Pemigewasset River Valley close to Exit 28 off Interstate 93 between the White Mountains and Lakes Regions of New Hampshire. You can head north, west and east to all the White Mountain National Forest has to offer or south to Squam (15 minutes), Newfound (25 minutes) or the 'Big Lake' - Winnipesaukee (35 minutes to an hour), all within an easy drive.

Nearby activities include: hiking, biking, fishing, boating, tubing, kayaking, golfing, exploring, cultural arts, theater, family theme and water parks, art and music festivals, sightseeing, birdwatching, wildlife-spotting, zip-lining, tax-free shopping, fairs, craft shows and much, much more!

We are ten minutes from Plymouth, home to Plymouth State University with a year-round indoor ice rink, grocery stores, hospital and other conveniences. A small local store just a five minute drive away - the Campton Cupboard - has all the necessities and more. There are plenty of places to dine locally for breakfast, lunch and dinner from family-friendly to more upscale options. We provide menus and directions. Some of these restaurants include The Mad River Tavern and Bear's Den Ice Cream, Woodpecker's Tavern, The Sunset Grill, The Mad River Coffee Shop and The Sugar Shack. Venture to Plymouth (10 minutes) or Lincoln (20 minutes) for more dining options.

There are so many day trips to take from our area to all corners of the state. You can travel the scenic Kancamagus Highway to North Conway for some excellent outlet shopping and take in Mount Washington via the Cog Railway, stopping at the historic Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods before traveling back south through Franconia Notch with a quick stop to ride the Tram to the top of Cannon Mountain before heading back to Campton.

If fun for the kids is on your itinerary, head north to Whale's Tale waterpark for the day or take your pick from Clark's Trading Post, Storyland, Six Gun City and Santa's Village to spend the day.

If it is a hot, lazy day, book a kayak or canoe trip through Ski Fanatics in Campton and float the Pemi River. They will drop you off and pick you up! If you have not had enough of the river, hit some of the local swimming holes, such as the Eddy, located on the road to Waterville Valley, just a few minutes from Campton.

A great all-ages experience is viewing native animals in natural habitats at the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center in Holderness. You will view and learn about bobcats, mountain lions, bears, raptors and more as you walk the winding paths. Wander up the street to the Squam Lakes Inn for lunch or over to the Squam Lakes General Store for ice cream and then take a guided tour of Squam on the Science Center's pontoon boat.

The local Chamber of Commerce, just off the exit, can provide more information about local, regional and state-wide attractions. They also sell hunting and fishing licenses and stickers for parking at the National Forest day-use areas.

Please ask any questions you may have about things you might be interested in doing while staying at our home!
