Fraser House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, (Sleeps 12)

Located just 4 miles from Winter Park on 3/4 acre, with breathtaking views of 13,000 ft Byers peak. Walk 50 feet beyond the driveway to catch the free shuttle (http://www.winterparkguide.com/maps/bus-maps) to the town of Winter Park as well as the ski resorts.

This Custom home was built using a centuries-old construction technique called 'timberframing.' Timberframe construction is typified by its use of large, exposed beams and logs connected by handcrafted, mortise and tenon joinery. It has a rustic feel, yet, has all the modern amenities. It has a second family room in the basement that includes a big-screen tv with video games, DVD, stereo, etc, which is perfect for the kids while the adults enjoy the main floor great room, which includes 20 ft vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and a fully equipped media, audio center. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare that feast for your family and friends.

The surrounding area is a true Colorado gem, with over 600 miles of the best mountain biking and hiking trails. Walk to the fly fishing haven of the Fraser river or fish the headwaters of the Colorado River, just 25 miles away. Enjoy some of the country's most spectacular and challenging mountain golf courses. The winter is host to award-winning skiing and snow boarding at Mary Jane and Winter Park Resorts. The two areas spread across 5 mountains and 3,078 acres with 3,060 ft of vertical and an impressive 30 ft of snow per year. You can find terrain for everyone from the beginner to the most experienced adrenaline junky. Explore thousands of miles of snowmobile trails or make your own tracks in wide-open powder fields. You may choose from more exotic winter activities such as dog sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides, to a tranquil, relaxing spa visit at Devil's Thumb Resort. Get excercise by snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.

Our house is available for rent throughout the year. Call for availability and rates.

Why Mark Johnson chose Winter Park Area

We chose to build in the Winter Park area because we enjoyed visiting so much as children. We believe it is the last of the true 'Colorado Mountain Resort Towns'. It has just enough amenities to accommodate most interests, while maintaining a mountain town feel. As soon as we reach the top of Berthoud Pass and view the great continental divide and the Fraser Valley below, our stress is lifted. Smell the fresh mountain air, scented with pine trees and you will understand why we enjoy the area so much. We hope you will as well.

What makes this house unique

Our house has the ideal layout for family and friends. It has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with 2 complete family rooms. This allows you to enjoy the company of larger groups without feeling cramped. We love knowing that our kids are having fun in the basement family room playing, watching movies or playing video games, while the adults enjoy time together on the main floor. Mornings are a treat as the sun illuminates the 13,000 ft., snow-capped, Byers Peak framed by the large windows in the back of the house. The vaulted great room is accented by large wood beams and logs, giving you the feel of a true mountain getaway.

Wonderful place for a family reunion

  • 5 of 5

This is a perfect place for a vacation gathering. With bedrooms on all three levels, it is easy to both be together and feel you have some privacy. The house has very good views, is thoroughly equipped with everything you need, and the "great room" and open kitchen make visiting easy. There is quite a bit to do in the area, even in the summer, and, of course, as many mountain hikes (or bikes) as you want. The Safeway and liquor story literally at the bottom of the hill are convenient and well-stocked. One alert: no doubt because of the darn Lodge Poll Pine Beetle, the trees right next to the house have had to be cut down, so when you approach, it will look a bit less wooded than you might have expected. However, several in our party said they preferred the wild flowers growing around the house anyway, and there are plenty of pine walks very close at hand. There were 10 of us, aged 8-74 for a week and I can't think of a single thing that anyone complained about the house. Thanks, Mark, for letting us live there for a week.

needs some repairs and dusting

  • 3 of 5

the kitchen and the table was great the bedrooms were good except the 2nd floor matresses need to be replaced just too soft, we liked all of the room and just some things need repair like lite bulbs, more washcloths, the toilet paper hanger was broken and towels should not be under sinks and in drawers just a few small things that would improve the stay.

the price of the house is high when beds aren't able to be slept in and using washcloths more than 1 day would be nice. We really loved the house. the bedroom upstairs had many cobwebs too. I would recommend the house to any one as it was nice with a very nice site of the downtown area Thanks Helen Job

Perfect for the whole group

  • 5 of 5

This house was everything we needed for the weekend. We had a group of 14 guys go up to the mountains for a bachelor weekend, and this place took great care of us. There were beds for everyone, enough space for everyone during the poker tournament, and was in prime location to offer blazing sunsets off the back deck. The house was easy to get to, minutes away from Winter Park, and a short drive from Granby (where we had rented a turf practice facility for some man olympics). The owner of the home was very quick to respond to all of my messages and offered suggestions for us to plan out our weekend. Plus, splitting the rental between 14 of us for the weekend made the place super affordable. I would gladly rent here again.

Huge, Loaded, Log Cabin Home

  • 4 of 5

What a great place. Of course, ski-in, ski-out is nice, but you are going to pay double, probably triple, for a place like this. The view is awesome, and if the red house next door blew down, you would even see WinterPark in the near distance. A short drive gets you down to the base of the hill the house is perched on. Before you hit the main road, there is the Safeway and most important beer store; super convenient. There is a shuttle picking you up every half hour about 100 yards from the front door. It will service Winterpark ski area, downtown and Fraser downtown. The shuttle is school buses, so expect a bumpy ride at the end of the day. The drive by car is about ten minutes to the WinterPark ski area. WinterPark ski area is very underrated. You will not be disappointed, and the same is with the house. There are two drawbacks to the home. The steps in the front are stable and grated for grip, but are tall at the end of a good ski day or with luggage. There is no hot tub on the deck, so really this place is just shy of a 5 star rating. Bonus, the home owner is very responsive and professional. Thanks for the great place!
