Celebrating 9 Years of Happy Renters!!:)
We have a Charming 2 Bedroom, One Bath Cottage Unit affectionately known as 'The Albatross' with All Linens Provided for Beach, Bath, and Bedroom.
-We are at 28 Seacliff Avenue, just off West Grand,..located on a family/pet oriented street, just steps away from the OOB sand. (We know all of our neighbors, and they are wonderful) The location is on the ocean side of the train tracks (in case you know the area and don't want to be on the other side of the tracks.
-Cottage unit will sleep 5 comfortably (6 with someone on our leather couch). -The cottage was originally built in 1910, but renovated throughout the years, including very recently. Cute, accommodating, safe, comfortable & most importantly, clean.
-Here's what we offer with this rental:
-Private Yard complete with Grill, Fire Pit, and Cozy Hammock
-Master Bedroom has Queen Mattress & A/C
-Bedroom #2 has Queen with a bunk twin loft bed
-Leather Couch and Leather Love Seat
-Full Kitchen with Fire Extinguisher, Coffee Maker, Toaster, Microwave, Fridge, Gas Stove, Blender, and all dishes, cookware, silverware, and other cooking implements.
-Wifi & LCD TV in living room with basic cable & Roku (streaming internet) with Netflix!
-HDMI cable available to plug in laptops in case you have other streaming apps.
-A/C in Living Room
-Outdoor 8' fold out table
(A few other extras such as boogie boards 'if they don't disappear in the surf', and random beach toys)
There are 2 convenience stores one block away, as well as a 24/7 Laundromat.
Close to restaurants, walking distance to Pier (15 min walk)
-We are located about halfway from OOB Pier and Ocean Park in lovely Old Orchard Beach.
-Amtrak train depot is walkable if arriving by train. The train goes directly through the town of OOB and alerts each intersection that it is coming, so if you are very sensitive to train noise, you may want to rent in Saco or in Ocean Park.
**Please see our other listing 'The Whaler' (3 bedroom), property # 3774159 if this unit is booked, as the other may be available for your selected dates.
I currently am a landlord of multi-units in Southern Maine.
I also stay active with my painting buisiness, as well as playing music as a solo musician on the beautiful decks of restaurants in Old Orchard Beach.
Shawn Tooley purchased this cottage in 2008
I bought this property because of Maine's natural beauty. I am a Mainer (although I have lived in Napa Valley, California and miss it greatly). The location was perfect, and I enjoy taking a couple weeks each summer to enjoy the property for myself. After all, the summer goes by in the blink of an eye...
Being halfway between the Pier and Ocean Park is a great thing. Ocean Park is a "hidden gem" of a small coastal town with excellent restaurants, small shops, and beautiful views. If fishing is your forte, the Saco River is an excellent choice to spend a day casting lines.
The cottage was clean and close to the beach. The large bedroom could use a new bed. Shawn was very nice and responsive to issues with the wifi and other questions. There was a lot of extra stuff like beach chairs, umbrellas, a transport wagon, etc. that made the trips to teh beach that much better. Also, the beach is only a few blocks away. However, the cottage is close to the train tracks and a train went by as many as 5-6 times a night blowing it's whistle. This was very tough with a 4 month old.
We were 2 couples who rented the Albatross. Close to the beach and the pictures of the property were up to date. Shawn was very nice although we had some mishaps along the way. Some were just bad luck - the toaster shorted out, a truck backed up and tore the cable and internet off the house, and we plugged a monitor/TV in the master bedroom and blew a fuse that affected have the cottage. Yup- black cloud! We got a new toaster from Shawn, he got the cable fixed as soon as possible but he really should update the electrical. Also - there are no screens on some of the windows (kitchen and the second bedroom). This was not pleasing to the couple who slept in the other bedroom as they could not enjoy any fresh air and there was no air conditioning....They were not happy. One other bad thing if you value your sleep is the train. It's loud and will wake you in the middle of the night. So other than that we had a good time and tried to make the best of the situation. There were a few other things we were not real happy with like the furniture was uncomfortable. Good things are close to the beach, friendly neighbors and the bed in the master bedroom was comfy. The cottage is fully stocked with household items as promised. Shawn was very nice.
Great house and so close to the beach! Shawn was great to rent from. My only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 was it was directly behind the train tracks. We have a 15 month old and it was tough at night. It only comes by a handful of times, but when it does, it really blows it's whistles. If all adults or older children, wouldn't be an issue at all.
Again, close walk to the beach, the pier, a fire ring, hammock provided (which we used every day!) and cute place. The train could possibly be charming to an older crowd, but young parents beware
We just returned from a week at this rental. It was perfect for me, my husband, our 11 year old daughter and Chihuahua/terrier. Awesome location. Terrific amenities. We would definitely return for another stay!
Great location, quiet. Close to the beach! Everything included linens & towels. All you need to bring is clothes and food! My family including our dog had a great time!! Thanks again!
My family of four plus our Boston Terrier just got back from a week vacation at the Albatross rental (rear unit). It was a great clean place and a great location close to the beach. The owner was very nice and easy to deal with. We are hoping to rent again next summer.
