Upon our arrival, the house smelled of fish. We also noticed the refrigerator was not very cool, but thought maybe it would cool down soon after our arrival. We quickly surveyed the house and made a list of damages so we would not be charged for these. There were 2 big scratches on furniture in one of the upstairs bedrooms, paint peeling off wall around Master bathtub, laundry doors off track, screen ripped in downstairs bedroom and curtain rod hardware missing in downstairs bedroom with twin beds. We called the management company and reported these items and they said they would send someone out to repair these things during our stay - they never did. Our first night we had no a/c upstairs and when we awoke the refrigerator was not cooling. We called the management company first thing in the morning and they sent someone out later that day to fix it. We were told the a/c needed a major repair, but a "quick fix" was made and may last a few days. The refrigerator also needed a major repair and another "quick fix" was made. The management said they would have to contact the owners of the property to see if they wanted to make the repairs or replace the units. We never heard back from the management company on how these repairs would be handled. Towards the end of our vacation, the refrigerator's "quick fix" stopped working and again we had to call the management company. This time the staff member from the management company claimed to have no notes in the file regarding the prior report we had made and began to get snippy with me. A quick fix was made again.
The furniture and furnishings are very worn and need to be cleaned and some of them need to be replaced. There were stains on the couches when we arrived. The pillows are very flat and the sheets and towels are comparable to an inexpensive hotel (Motel 6). There are multiple scratches and dents on the walls, mold on the shower curtains, and dust on the wall from the a/c vent in one bathroom. These are things I would not expect from a rental of this price. Again the location is great - the structure and floorplan is great - the house just needs to be managed better and needs some refreshing due to many renters.
There was also some confusion on trash pick up and the cans were full upon our arrival. We called the management company 3 times to get the trash picked up and finally we just left the cans out at the street and figured the city would come pick up the trash at a later date.
