Cute and comfy

The couch and chair covers could use a good cleaning. It took a long time to dry any towels and the washer didn't switch to the spin cycle on it's own. It had to be set to spin separately. Overall the condo was clean and had cute and comfortable furnishings. The queen bed was comfy but the twin bunks were not. We had an enjoyable stay and would stay again.

Deep clean needed

The place was very cutely decorated. The kitchen was very pretty as compared to the others in the same complex. The huge patio was nice, but the futon cover had a huge stain on it. Also the railings were in need of a paint job.

All of the slipcovers were nasty looking-- brown stains. When I went to remove the one on the kitchen chairs, the rattan underneath it was broken, as it was on a couple of others. So you couldn't take them off. The comforters on the bunk beds, looked like they'd been used to dust with. The vent covers were no cleaner. One of the top bunks had a support that was broken and poking down. The underfabric was ripped and hanging down. We attempted to fix that with some duct tape, so it wouldn't brush on anyone's face. The fan in the main bath was not working, as well as the lights above both showers. The free standing toilet paper holder was completely broken, but propped up with a new roll of toilet paper like it wasn't broken when we arrived. You could only dry about three things at a time in the dryer. The garbage disposal was not working by the time we left.

When we called, they'd send someone over to change the sheets and said almost everything else could not be fixed by the maids. They did send someone the next day and he changed the vent covers, so it didn't look like black mold. I asked for them to send over some sheets to cover the futon outside and the couch, so we could sit on them, and they did.

There was also so much stuff (bedding, mirrors, ladders) in the closets, there wasn't room to put your suitcases and shoes in them.

There was also no hairdryer in the place. So we had to go buy one.

They said they get a deep cleaning once a year and were due for it. I have never stayed at a place this run down when it was managed by the owner. This one was managed by Kaiser. Once a year deep cleaning, may be enough for your own home, but when different people use a place, it should probably be deep cleaned 4-6 times a year and inspected for broken things after each stay.

Spring Break 2016 - a great little condo on West Beach!

The condo was a hidden little polished gem in an older condominium setting. The owner has obviously taken great pride in decorating the unit to get the most bang for the buck. If you enjoy an eclectic vibe - this will be a great choice for you! Structurally speaking, you will only find the basics - but overall, the unit is super cute! The bedding is great for smaller people but the master is not really big enough to accommodate two large people. The master bed does have great padding (you will sink right into it) and the two sets of twin beds in the guest room are very sturdy and perfect for up to four kids. The price is very competitive for beachfront property...just realize the unit is beach view only. This unit is actually in the very back of the condominium building so the balcony wraps around two sides of the unit - this was a nice feature! You will also be overlooking the main road - this is also interesting if you enjoy watching the comings and goings of people and vehicles. Street noise was not an issue inside the unit. Happily, there is an elevator in this building. We were a little disappointed to see the pool closed during Spring Break but we understand maintenance must be performed. I was also truly concerned to see the area bombarded with so many police and emergency vehicles; which at times were intimidating for all ages. Gulf Shores has been a popular destination for me, my family and my friends for many, many years. I hope to see the area return to its relaxed, care-free atmosphere in the near future. I love college kids and the West Beach area during Spring Break (which is just over a mile from The Hangout). When booking, please be aware that you will not be dealing with the owner of this unit. You will deal directly with a realty company. They will not negotiate with you on the price but they are very efficient in their communication. You will not receive a code or key in advance. We actually had to stop by the realty office to pick up our keys and check in. Our unit was not ready when we arrived at 4:00 so we were only allowed to "check in" but could not pick up our keys until about 5:30. I know they were busy during Spring Break but it would have been more convenient to give us the keys and then call or text once the unit was ready...just a suggestion. Overall, this is a great little condo which is convenient to many activities. I recommend this unit for a budget friendly beach front property!

We stayed in this condo January and February of 2015 because the rental agency said there weren't any other condos available. The WiFi took two weeks to connect, kitchen items were in poor repair and limited, small appliances were broken, sofa and chairs covered with dirty canvas covers and the condo was dirty and unorganized. The pictures really look good but Be Careful!
