We had a great time here. Sam was very accommodating to our needs. We cooked a lot, and the kitchen was well-appointed and had everything we needed. Highly recommended.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Gold Hill was fantastic! The home was immaculate, very well-appointed and very peaceful and quiet. The setting looking out over the river was great and the art work both in and out of the house was fun, interesting and creative. Sam and Paula were great hosts and very helpful after we messed up the TV reception. Came right over and took care of it! All in all a very great experience. We loved it!

Great base for Southern Oregon adventure

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a few nights at this home during a visit to Southern Oregon. It is a comfortable, well-appointed house in a great location. We were able to spend the day hiking in Crater Lake and along the Rogue -- and make it back in time for a visit to nearby Del Rio winery. It is easily accessible from I5, which made it convenient for exploring the area, but the location is wooded and quiet.

Beautiful riverfront home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful riverfront home was the ideal home base for our trip to southern Oregon. The house is spacious, clean, and whimsically decorated. The view of the Rogue River from the wrap-around deck is lovely. We enjoyed spending time watching the river flow by while sipping our morning coffee and while unwinding in the evening from our daily adventures.

The home feels very private and removed from the hustle and bustle, yet it is nearby to many activities--minutes from jet boating, zip lining, & rafting, and less than 2 hours to Crater Lake.

The house is large and offers space and seating for gathering together, but there is also plenty of space for finding alone time. My 9 year old son's favorite peaceful spot was the porch swing on the lower level.

The kitchen offers every pot, pan, dish and tool you can imagine for preparing great meal, and there is a nice grocery store only a few minutes away, in town, just across the river.

The beds in the master and second bedroom are quite comfortable, although the pull-out sofa bed leaves some to be desired, according to my teenage son. Otherwise, the house and all of its furnishings are amazing.

The owner Sam is a delight. He made sure to let me know we could contact him if we needed anything, but we found no need to contact him during our stay, as he offers a home instructions sheet that clearly explains how to operate everything, and everything was in perfect working order.

I highly recommend this piece of paradise to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and beautiful home away from home. We will be back next year!

Very nice property on the Rogue River

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4 stayed at this property on the Rogue River and had a great time. It is well-equipped and well stocked with everything you need for a wonderful vacation. Our kids loved the hot tub and the pool table, the kitchen has everything you need to cook up delicious meals, and the beds are clean and comfortable. As another reviewer has noted, it is in a small town between Medford and Grants Pass. It is a 10 minute drive to Trader Joe's and other "big box" retailers. Very easy freeway access, so we were able to get to the Oregon Caves, Crater Lake, whitewater rafting and fishing within an hour (or so) drive.

So why 4 stars instead of 5? A couple of things: while the house is on the Rogue River, the entry point at the house isn't safe for swimming. So, while our kids skipped rocks and splashed around up to their ankles, we had to drive elsewhere to enjoy the river. You could potentially fish there, but we did not. There is a rafting/tubing company about a mile away from the home that is convenient to get to. Second, the bedrooms are on different levels. We have elementary school-aged kids, and while it was fine, the layout is probably better suited for families with older kids. I found myself constantly going up and down the stairs, and my kids ended up showering/bathing in the master bathroom instead of downstairs. Lastly, while the home is clean and well-kept, there are areas that show wear & tear. The sofas could use an upgrade as the cushions are getting lumpy and musty. These are not large issues, but I thought I would note them for future vacationers.

Overall, we had a great stay here and really enjoyed our vacation in southern Oregon. The management company and the owners are very responsive to inquiries and friendly to deal with. The entire process from start to finish was very easy.
