Pete and Karen Nagle purchased this cottage in 2008
The creek is incredible, Beautiful stone work and post and beam construction. The creek will lull you to sleep. Large, comfortable outdoor hot tub
Private. On The Creek. Beautiful Rock And Cedar Shake Building. But Close To The Heart Of Our Mountain Village.
Our first impression of the property upon arrival was that this cottage was perfect and gorgeous! Great location! In the mountains but still located in downtown hot springs. The town is very quiet, and cute like any small town you would hope to be! The cottage was very clean and provided everything we needed! The local coffee they provided was delicious!
My only issue was privacy. The loft area (where the bed is located) has windows all around - which normally we love!! Every other cabin/cottage we've stayed at- we welcome big gorgeous open windows. However- the windows faced the neighbors cottage windows as well. We can see directly into the neighbors windows- which means they can see right into ours. Leaving us with no privacy upstairs.
The hot tub is the best I've ever been in!! We were in it every night we were at the cottage!
The local restaraunts were great! We highly recommend Spring Creek Tavern!
Also- the Appalachian trail is literally right down the road!
It was nice to experience Hot springs differently this year-by being closer to town. Normally the cabins we stay at are well up the mountain and over an hour from town- so it was nice to be able to be close- yet still have the gorgeous mountain/creek view.
This place is magic. The cottage is like something out of a fairy story. The creek sound lulls you to sleep each night and relaxes you as you hang out on the amazing deck. Watching wildlife, swimming and floating on the creek were wonderful and the privacy is amazing. Especially considering how close you are to town and can walk there in less than 10 minutes! The cottage has every amenity you wold expect and Karen was kind enough to loan us her blender so we could make smoothies while we were there. I cannot wait to go back! I love this place!
What a great place to stay! The house is wonderful--really perfect for relaxing. The cottage is in town, walkable to restaurants, but has great privacy. The owners, Karen and Pete, are lovely. We will definitely be back.
Amazing property in delightful hot springs. The property has EVERYTHING you could need. Owners Karen and Pete are fabulous hosts and very welcoming. Don't miss this vacation rental as a perfect central location for the village and trails about within just a few minutes either on foot or by car.
My family of 4 (kids 10 and 18) spent 4 days at Stone Cottage this summer. It is one of the best places we have stayed and we are a traveling family. The accommodations were beyond expectations! The cottage is absolutely beautiful inside and out and all you need to pack are your clothes and a few groceries... everything else is available just like a home. Spring Creek is right off the deck and it is an incredible view. The sound of the creek is nice while sleeping. And my son and husband spent hours playing and swimming there. The hot tub on the deck is very large and NICE! We hope to visit this place again soon. Karen and Pete (the owners) were great to deal with for reservations and throughout our stay. They live next door to the cottage but it is not an inconvenience at all. Hot Springs is a short walk from the cottage and you can enjoy hiking, shopping and restaurants. We never got in our cars again until it was time to leave. I would highly recommend this property to friends and relatives.
The Stone Cottage was a great choice. Attention to detail by owner. Reservation process was easy and owner was available for questions. The furnishings are very nice. Bed and sleeper sofa comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked and also nice grill on deck. Hot tub was nice and very clean. The outdoor shower is great for warm weather use. Spring Creek adjoins the property and is outstanding. The water is deep and great for swimming and also shallow areas for wadding.
Less than 1/2 mile walk to center of Hot Springs. We ate breakfast twice at the Smokey Mountain Diner and it was very good. Ate lunch and take out pizza at Spring Street Tavern and dinner at the Iron Horse Restaurant and Tavern- both places were very good as well.
French Broad River is less than 1/2 mile away and so is Appalachian Trail. Several river outfitters within same distance. Great hiking accessible from the town. We went zip lining at Navitat (about 45 min away) and is was a great choice.
Several things to consider: The Wifi signal is strong and had no problem streaming Netflix. Bose radio/cd/iPod docking station. No phone or TV. The space is best suited for 2 adults and up to 2 children. Unrelated couples might find that the open loft and 1 bathroom might not provide enough privacy. The owners live next door and the house is relatively close- but we rarely saw them and they did not intrude at all (it was good to know they were close in case we needed something).
We have already recommended to family and friends and I hope to go back soon.
