My wife and I were looking for a place to relax and renew our relationship for our 35th wedding anniversary. This was the perfect place. We strolled around town, and walked on the Appalachian trail. The cottage was perfect for two people and the people in town were very friendly.
Beautiful location and well stocked.
Stunning! Comfortable! Quiet!
This little cottage is a rare find! It's a stunning setting along the creek...and the house is an absolute work of art! Even though it was July, it was cool enough at night turn off the AC and open the windows...rocked to sleep every night by the sound of the rushing water.
We've rented several VRBO/Homeaway houses over the years and I have to say this one was the best decorated! The care that went into choosing and placing every piece of furniture and every accessory was immediately apparent. Even the dishes and glasses were unique pieces of art!
And comfortable...the bed upstairs was plush. And my kids actually loved the pull-out sofa. The water was FRIGID but kiddos didn't mind...and the hot tub was a welcome reprieve after a quick dip in the creek.
Here are my few (very minor) pieces of feedback:
1. The description indicated there was a DVD player...which we assumed meant a player attached to a TV. But there was neither. There is a very nice Bose CD player and radio...which I believe is what the owner meant when they clicked the 'DVD' box. No worries though...the internet bandwidth was strong and we streamed a movie or two on the iPad in the late evening.
2. There were plenty of linens...but only one full sized blanket...and it was the comforter on the upstairs bed. There were a few throw blankets available so that's what the kids used on the pull-out. But had we been there when it was cooler, we'd have been shivering.
3. As the description indicates, this house is not ideally suited for a big family or traveling with friends. The only privacy inside is the bathroom. For a dad and two kids...it was perfect. But if my wife had been able to join us...or we'd made it a couples retreat with friends, it might have been awkward.
Other than that, sheer paradise in Western North Carolina. Thanks for sharing it with our family.
Everything about this cottage is perfect! The cottage has a well-stocked kitchen, an amazingly comfortable bed, great shower, and a fabulous hot tub! We enjoyed soaking in the hot tub with the creek right beside us. We will be back, hopefully soon. Thank you for creating such an artistic, beautiful home to share with others.
It makes me smile that you so loved the cottage that I so enjoyed creating! I look forward to your return.
Incredible getaway. Woods, creek, deck, trails, hot springs
What a great place! One bedroom with a foldout couch. Quiet, except for the wonderful bubbling creek that we went swimming in. Sauna on the deck that we also enjoyed. Very small town of Hot Springs. We went to the Iron House restaurant for most lunches and dinners, and the Diner on the other side of town for breakfasts. It is on the Appalachian Trail, so plenty of places to hike. We went whitewater rafting with French Broad Whitewater Rafting and had a great time. Also sat in the Hot Springs at the resort.
Great, relaxing long weekend. Very calming place.
I really like that there are no tv's in the place. We had a small issue with air conditioning that was fixed very quickly. I will definitely be back.
