Historic Rosny Farm is located on hundreds of acres in the heart of Virginia close to Farmville, Appomattox and the James River in rural Buckingham County. The house, originally constructed in the late 1700's, has undergone a careful renovation that made the kitchen state of the art including a Viking Range, updated both original wood burning fireplaces for guests to enjoy, refinished the original heart of pine floors and plaster walls and added two new bedrooms in the English Basement. The furniture and fixtures are all luxury, high-end -- some of which are antiques. Guests can enjoy miles and miles of exploring along trails through field and forest and creeks. Moreover, Rosny is a working organic farm that raises grass fed beef and pork as well as free range hens for eggs. Families will enjoy jumping into the daily farm activities or cooking up fresh farm raised beef to serve on the gracious west facing porch that spans the length of the house. Guests can horseback ride at nearby Sprouses Corner Ranch. However, if one wants to simply relax and get away in the country - this is the place to do it. Rock for hours on the porch or relax by the fire with a book. The bedrooms are one queen bed and one set of twin beds, each with their own bathroom. Longwood and Hampden-Sydney College are both nearby as is historic Buckingham Courthouse and Appomattox Courthouse.

My family and I live on the farm in the 'main house' constructed in 1832 and recently renovated.
The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2000
This is one of the most tranquil settings you can imagine. Come enjoy the quiet.
What a charming place. We just loved the views from the front porch and the decor was very relaxing and comfortable. The kitchen was very well appointed. The only thing that needs improvement was knowing where to check in. The map sent us to another place. Would we go back? Absolutely! Would I recommend the 1790 farmhouse? Absolutely and have. In the fall the views should be gorgeous with the trees changing color.
When we arrived I was disappointed with the furniture on the front porch. It was not what was shown in the picture. There were two tables and two rocking chairs. It stormed the night before we got there so the first thing we did was sweep the porch and clean the glass table. We enjoyed walking on the road and trail. We enjoyed the quiet setting. Some of the lamp shades were stained. The desk chair and extra chair in the kitchen were stained. High end furniture in the living room yet stained chair and pillow. I would recommend the Windows be power washed. It was clean just felt somethings should be replaced or re-upholstered. I brought my own sheets, pillow, and small quilt. We Would go back if some of the items get taken care of and more attention given to some of these details including updating the coffee maker and toaster oven.
We enjoyed our stay on Rosny Farm and can not wait to go back there! The farm is so peaceful and private. The restored cabin is set up perfectly for our family. The welcoming committee of cows and pumpkins on the porch were simply perfect for our needs as we visited colleges in the Farmville area. Although we did not take full advantage of the kitchen, fireplaces, and vast property due to time constraints, we look forward to returning when more time allows us to enjoy and explore these amenities. Rosny was a great find!
What a perfect spot for a relaxing girls getaway. We enjoyed the quiet, pastoral views from all sides of the house which has been lovingly and beautifully restored. We enjoyed exploring in the nearby towns and on the 4th visited Monticello for the naturalization ceremony. This property offered a perfect combination of rest, relaxation, and exploring.
We greatly enjoyed our stay in this most comfortable restored cottage. Was beautifully decorated and had every accessory needed! We only wish we had more time to explore the serene setting on this beautiful farm, while visiting our son at Longwood. Drive was a good 30 minutes to the University, but very well worth it! Much nicer then being stuck in a hotel!
