Mountain living at its best. This recently renovated, luxurious chalet with Hot Tub, is nestled on the side of the mountain with relaxing views and only steps to Tryo Ski slope. Located on a quiet street, you will feel secluded in the tree tops but close to the center of Wintergreeen with all the adventures. In ski season, no need to hassle with shuttles or lugging your gear, upon arriving you can immediately hit the slopes for the best skiing in Virginia . When ready to take a break, head back to our chalet and warm yourself by the stone fireplace, fix a beverage at the bar, and slip into the hot tub.
Our home is eloquently decorated yet comfortably modest with furniture, antiques, and artwork from local shops and artisans. The home has vaulted ceilings throughout including the family room with new leather sofa, swivel chairs, TV with libraries of DVDs, books, and games. The kitchen has granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and is well furnished to prepare a gourmet meal for your family. There is a dry bar next to the kitchen and dining room with sliding doors leading to the deck and hot tub.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, new mattress, attached bathroom with river rock flooring, slate counter with vessel sink. The second king bedroom with new bedding has shared bathroom with natural stone flooring, hand made maple counter and stone vessel sink.
A spiral staircase leads to the third bedroom or bunk room with custom built in double bunk beds with trundle which sleeps up to six. There is a large TV/DVD and area which provides an escape for kids or adults.
It is a short walk or drive to the Black Rock Market, Mountain Inn, Spa, and all the incredible ammendities that Wintergreen resort has to offer. The town of Nellysford is only a few miles down the mountain with local groceries and many great restaurants. Appalachian trail is within steps of our house and the BlueRidge Parkway, George Washington National Forest, and Shirando State Park are within a three mile drive.
On your drive in or while you are here, please stop by some of Virginia's best wineries and breweries that are located off route 151.
Don't forget to take a hike to crabtree falls, said to be the highest waterfall in the Mid Atlantic.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions about Wintergreen, activities, and surrounding areas.
Ski season: If you have already started looking for ski season, this home is one of the few houses that have direct access to the slopes. Although not a tru ski in/ski out, the house sets above tyro ski slope. You can watch the skiers go by from the house and when ready, walk across from house for direct access. Please see pictures of house and captions which show direct relation from house to slopes

The kids hanging out at the edge. If you look at their faces, this is why we love Wintergreen.
The Owner purchased this chalet in 2011
We are having a blast. Lots of snow and great skiing. Girls want to stay another day.
Love the house. Comfortable and in a great spot!
Thanks so much.
We loved this property. The bedrooms and bathrooms were great. The deck and hot tub were great. The kids loved the loft. Everything worked just fine. I can't wait to come back in ski season! The owner was very responsive. We are so glad we chose to rent this property!
The cabin itself was wonderful, my friends and I enjoyed the property. The drive up the mountain to this location was interesting and a bit scary with the fog. Had great accommodations and a market with everything you could ever need two minutes away. It was a difficult getting in touch with the owner, often not responding to texts/messages/voicemails before and during the trip. There were some spiders upstairs and a few of my friends had to sleep on the floor, one complained of a "crusty pillow." Also, hardly any service in the area, make sure to plan ahead in terms of your gps or else you will get lost!!! Regardless of all of this, it was a beautiful place to stay at and for the price, worth it.
We had a wonderful weekend for a Bachelorette Party. The house easily accommodated 8 adults, with plenty of bed space for everyone and a cozy atmosphere for our down time. Beautiful location close to lots of activities! The owner was super responsive.
Great house for 2 adult couples over a long weekend. Just my personal preferences, but 4 adults and 2 kids would seem to be the comfortable max, even though there are beds for more. Everything worked fine with the exception of the TV remote. Hot tub took a little figuring out, but cycling the breaker off for 15 minutes seemed to reset it. Comfortable beds.
Yes, there are some steps, but same comment for 90% of the houses at Wintergreen. This also results in a great view. All-in-all a nice stay and a good value.
We used this place for a guys/boys ski weekend. The place was clean upon arrival, sheets were on beds, towels were available, just as the owner had stated.
Location - perfect if you're skiing/snowboarding. Maybe 50 yards away is a path to Tyro. Several house around you but it felt very isolated and quiet. Not close enough to walk to the resort or market unless you really wanted some exercise, but that's a nice thing because it's less crowded. Ample parking for 3 vehicles.
House Impressions - It's a chalet, on a mountain. Some other reviewers seem to forget that. (ie...there are stairs to get to the house - again, it's on a mountain, expect to climb a little)
The house was clean (clean enough for some guys), didn't find any bugs that other reviewers mentioned, pots/pans were available, knives could be a bit sharper, but we managed with what was available. We didn't find a coffee pot, for the drip coffee maker until the last day, but fortunately had brought our own. No big deal. Hot tub never seemed to work, but owner was very responsive with our questions. Keep in mind it was single digits every night and dropped below freezing with wind chill...perhaps it was just too cold for a hot tub.
Kitchen is a little tight, but even cooking for all of us, it was more than functional.
Loft area in the house - perfect for 5 boys. We'd come in from the slopes, cook up food, they would eat and head up, sleep till morning. Worked very well.
Beds were comfy, fireplace worked well, sofa was comfortable. Showers were all clean, hot water was plentiful.
Overall, would recommend and use again. If you find yourself traveling with nitpickers - then realize they may find some things wrong, but overall, great place and great location at a great value.
My family and I had a great ski weekend. House location to slopes couldn't have been better and layout and furnishings were much nicer than would be expected in a rental. Prepared most of our meals there but discovered some good restaurants and breweries down the mountain. Skied a couple of days and kids loved tubing park and arcade. Would recommend this home for ski rental and will try and stay here next year
