About John Musgrove

My wife was born and raised in the Marquette area and we absolutely love Upper Peninsula. When we had the opportunity to purchase this getaway in 2013 we could not pass on it. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

John Musgrove purchased this house in 2013

Why John Musgrove chose Upper Peninsula Michigan

Michelle and I wanted a place to relax and enjoy life with our four kids. We were so pleased to find this beautiful getaway in the community we much. Sadly our careers afford us very little time to enjoy this great getaway. While we look forward to the day we can call this place home we are unable to at this time so we are able to share it with you. We hope many families are able to enjoy this little piece of Pure Michigan..

What makes this house unique

This property is quiet and relaxing. The view from the bay windows are spectacular. The fall colors are absolutely stunning and the amount of snow we get is ridiculous.

Lakefront Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was a great home base for my husband, daughter, me, and two sets of grandparents. We enjoyed many hours paddling around in the paddle boat, row boat, and kayaks. We were a short drive from the local gas station and grocery store and about a 30 minute drive from Marquette (which we did almost every day with no issue). The cottage had all the amenities we'd want and more that I didn't realize we needed. There were blow up toys for the lake, baby life vests, extra sun hats, fans, coloring books, and many other indoor & outdoor games and books available for all ages. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a great vacation!

Gwinn Vacation Property

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful time at the lake house property. It was so nice to have all the outdoor equipment for the kids and grand kids to enjoy! The first thing we did after unpacking was to jump in the kayaks and paddle boat and head out on the lake. Enjoyed many campfires, pool games and relaxing on the shore each day. It was very nice not to have to pack linens, towels and beach chairs, to name a few. Many board games and indoor activity items were provided as well to keep you busy if we had a rainy day. It was nice for my grand kids to have the house right on the lake, they could play in the lake, which is very shallow for quite a ways out, there was no worry and they felt safe with the shallow waters. The house was located in close proximity to Marquette, Pictured Rocks and many waterfalls to see. I would highly recommend this property for a vacation.

Relaxing Lake Front House

  • 4 of 5

We were very happy with our stay. The house is situated at the end of a private road, and has a nice little row boat and some kayaks for use around the lake. The fire pit was our evening hangout. The house features a full laundry, ample space to spread out, cable TV, and wireless internet, and master suite on the main floor.

We would definitely come back.

Beautiful property

  • 4 of 5

This cabin sits right on the shore of Bass Lake. Every angle of the property provides beautiful views of the trees, lawn or the lake. It was so peaceful! Couple of things to just be aware of if you are looking at staying here; the first is that the beds are VERY hard. If you have pressure point problems, or just need a softer mattress, bring something that will help accommodate you. Second, we have been doing this for several years and I finally decided it was silly to keep taking condiments when the houses always were completely stocked. Not so here. There is salt/pepper, a little coffee and sugar and some salt free steak spice. Otherwise you've got to bring everything with you-which was somewhat difficult coming from California. Not a criticism, just something to be aware of. I guess we've gotten a little spoiled from places we've stayed and should've checked into it more. (There is a market, Larry's, just down the way).

However, if you're a family, they have everything for every age in terms of games and things to do, and if you're a couple looking for time away, it's so incredibly peaceful! The owners are very generous with the use of the kayaks, boats, life jackets, chairs, and firewood.

And the sunrise/Sunsets were glorious! We stayed 10 days and it was wonderful!

Great house and location! I would highly recommend, close to both Marquette and Munising. There were 8 in our party and there was plenty our room to spread out. We loved the use of the paddle boat and kayaks. House was spotless and kitchen was well stocked, for those wishing to BBQ or cook a meal. Thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us!

Independence Day Weekend Retreat

  • 4 of 5

A family reunion at a nearby lake brought our family (six adults and two small children) to this inviting home on Bass Lake. The children loved the sand beach and shallow swimming area and the adults appreciated all the room, the pool table, and excellent media equipment in several rooms. We recommend this home for a summer getaway!
