Bella Casa is an 1100 Sq. Ft. Condo with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms located on a quiet tree lined residential street in one of the oldest family neighborhoods in Santa Fe. This Condominium Complex was built in 1983 on the site of a former estate and features only 5 units in an L shape. My unit is located at the inside corner, which allows for both a front and back patio that are completely private. Two Reserved Parking spots are just steps from the front gate and are off street. This area is known as the South Capitol Historic District and is less than a mile from the center of the Santa Fe Plaza and 2 blocks from the State Capitol "Round House". Shopping, dining, and amenities galore are within walking distance. The Cathedral bells can be heard outside and will guide you towards one of the most interesting spots in the entire country! Galleries, Art & History Museums, Canyon Road, Farmers Markets, Art Shows, restaurants, wineries, sunsets, spas, golfing, skiing, hiking, and great people abound here. Day trips are easily accomplished throughout Northern New Mexico. The condo is an adobe home with high ceilings featuring exposed vigas, an authentic Kiva fireplace, brick floors throughout, a cooks kitchen, and above all, privacy. The two separated bedrooms (one 8 steps up, one 8 steps down) allows for guest privacy, especially for two couples. The front and back patios have been completely redesigned and re-landscaped in 2018. They give you an indoor/outdoor feeling throughout the condo and great light. The living area (with upgraded queen sleeper sofa for those extra guests), a fully equipped kitchen, full size washer and dryer all add to your comfort. The upstairs King bed and bath suite and downstairs Queen bed and bath layout is especially nice for guest privacy should you travel with two couples, with your family or just a fun girls trip. Both bedrooms have cable TV, as well as the living area which also has a DVR and DVD player. No matter what brings you, I believe you will truly enjoy your time at Bella Casa. This will be a place to call home while you are away! Come experience the City Different, we know you will want to return.

About Diane and Phil Apprill
We both grew up in New Mexico - my husband in Los Alamos, and myself in Albuquerque. Meeting at UNM in 1972 was the beginning of a fabulous journey for us. We moved around the country but always wanted to be back in New Mexico. Splitting the difference between our families, we ended up with the most amazing condo just outside of the craziness of downtown Santa Fe. Over the years we were blessed with a beautiful daughter who loves being in Santa Fe! The condo remains our very favorite spot, and we have worked hard to make it inviting, comfortable and functional for our guests. We began years ago just occasionally renting to friends and family, and have expanded to include others. We have had the best experiences with travelers, and invite you to become one of our cherished guests. We strive to accommodate the needs of each group, so let us know what you are looking for in a vacation spot, and we will be completely honest with you about our home. It is important to us that you have a great trip and everything works perfectly for you. We have great associates in Santa Fe should anything be needed, so rest assured you will be well taken care of by the best. Happy Travels!

Why Diane and Phil Apprill chose South Capitol
When we finally began looking for a place in Santa Fe, we knew we wanted something very close to the Plaza and all of the galleries and museums. We looked forever it seemed, then one day we happened upon a condo for sale in the South Capitol area. Tree lined residential streets, quiet, with the most sought after elementary in town. Turns out, the condos were designed and built by friends of my husbands in the mid 1980's. Phil is an architect by trade, and upon this discovery, we knew this was the place. At the time, it wasn't very well kept, and we strove through the years to be sure it was kept in pristine condition with traditional Santa Fe Style furnishings and art. Lots of love and care went into the unique furnishings, the acquisition of art, and maintenance.
What makes this Condo unique
Let me start with what to expect when you arrive at Bella Casa. We have 2 private off street parking spaces, which make entry with all of your bags very easy to accomplish no matter the weather...just steps from the front patio door. The patios are complete with seating, greenery and beautiful shade trees and both front and back patios are surrounded by tall adobe walls, so they are completely private. The back patio has a grill, easy access to dry firewood, seating, a chiminea and is viewed from the kitchen and dining area. If you are ever lucky enough to be at Bella Casa in May, you will see the magnificent Lilac bush in bloom by the kitchen window. Arch Bishop Lamy gifted this plant to his close friend, my husband's Grandfather, who was the Editor of the New Mexican for many years. It was transplanted from their home in Santa Fe and remains in our garden. The two bedrooms are very separate. Upstairs there is a King bed, with great light and a private tub/shower full bath. Plenty of storage, and a spacious closet. Brick floors throughout, vaulted ceilings with vigas, and a great view of the back patio and beyond. In the winter months when the leaves have fallen, you can see the top of the Capitol building from the window, and the mountains surrounding Santa Fe. Downstairs there is a queen bed, also with a window to the back patio and an adjacent tub/shower full bath. Vigas, brick floors, and a large closet complete this room. Flatscreen TV's are in both bedrooms as well as the living area. The Kiva fireplace speaks for itself in the living area and will provide many hours of enjoyment during your stay!

Wonderful and cozy!
Cozy property with attention to detail; great location and fantastic owner who was so helpful with recommendations and directions! Definitely want to stay here in next trip to area!
Thank you for the wonderful compliments! You and your guests were just lovely to have. Looking forward to a future stay here at Bella Casa!
This was the perfect rental for our visit to Santa Fe. The condo is very nicely decorated - warm and cozy - and very clean! Loved the fireplace and the big windows in the sitting area. The kitchen was well stocked and we cooked a few meals, in addition to dining out in Santa Fe. Diane was very responsive during the rental process and during our stay, checking to make sure we were in OK and to make sure we didn't need anything. Location was great being just one mile from the plaza and parking at the condo was easy. We will definitely be back!
I am so pleased you had a great experience both at the condo and with Santa Fe! Do hope you have an opportunity to return?
Thank you for your thoughtful review!
Nice, but 2nd bedroom is a hazard
This is a very lovely property that is quiet and centrally located.
However, the 2nd or downstairs bedroom has a small very slanted antique nightstand with a slippery surface and my friend's smart phone was completely shattered when it slid off onto the bedroom pavers the first night. (I have a video of an iPad and other objects sliding off nightstand) Also the large longhorn skull above this bed fell off onto the bed our last day, luckily when no one was in the room, and broke into several pieces which we picked up and stored in a corner of the room and sent pics to the owner. (This skull can be seen in the owner's pictures of the room with skull hanging forward). Owner's attitude was: nothing like this has ever happened before and there is no clear way this could have come off the wall, as if we are to blame for these events. Again, lovely property, but not a good experience for our friends in that room. Beds were adequate but not real comfortable.
Ann, I am sorry your experience was not what you anticipated.
This is the first I have heard about the beds not being comfortable? As you can see from other guest comments over the years, this has not been an issue? While you were in residence you mentioned everything was great?
The bedside table you speak about has been used by hundreds of guests over 25 years of rentals and I truly have never had an issue like this. Perhaps if your friends phone had been protected with a case and screen saver this may not have happened? Since you provided me with the bill for her new phone, I was able to contact the store manager to discover it was only her screen that broke and it was repairable. It was her choice to purchase a new phone, with screen saver and case per the receipt.
The skull above the bed was professionally hung and I had it evaluated when it fell. The wall mount and skull’s hanging mechanism were both intact and unaltered. It remains a mystery.
Accidents do happen, and I did not ask you to pay for the skull, although you asked me to help pay for your friends new phone. Nor did I keep your deposit, although your cleaning bill was over the allotted amount and the skull’s replacement cost is well over $500.
Absolutely loved our stay at Bella Casa!
My husband and I met our good friends here in Santa Fe for a long weekend. All four of us were very happy with Bella Casa. The owners have thought of everything in making their condo comfortable. We are from Texas where the temps are still uncomfortably warm so one of the first things we did was build a fire in the fireplace. Diane, the owner is very friendly and made herself available to answer any questions we had. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipped for preparing meals. The four of us enjoyed both the front and back patios, cozy and quiet. Wonderful rental, we’ll be back!
So happy you enjoyed your stay at Bella Casa! We love Santa Fe and are always happy to hear how much others like it as well. Appreciate that you noticed the little things that we do to ensure your stay is relaxing and pleasant. Please come again!
Simply a wonderful place to stay close to Old Town Santa Fe
We have stayed in several very nice short term rental's over the years but this one stands out from the rest. The condo is cozy and warm just like Santa Fe and in dealing with the owner you can understand why. Diane could not have been nicer, more responsive or informative. The condo is stocked with EVERYTHING you might need and decorated to perfection in Santa Fe style. Next time we want to go to Santa Fe we'll check first to see if Diane's place is available around the time we want to be there and if so, work our trip around that opening. It's that good!
Thank you for your kind words, Steve! You were fabulous guests and I do hope you come back in the future!
Five University of South Dakota Chi Omega sisters stayed here for 5 days.
We enjoyed every bit of this home from entry patio through decorated home, comfortable beds and relaxing back patio. Diane is extremely accommodating and always available by phone. Thank you.
Judy I can’t wait for all of you to return! You were a pleasure to work with!
Bella Casa is ideally situated close to Museums, shopping, restaurants, grocery store, liquor store, the Santa Fe Children's Museum and live theaters. The condo is near the intersection of Old Pecos Trail and Santa Fe Trail.
