Our family and friends came to New Orleans to celebrate my son’s 30th birthday and we are so happy that we decided to stay at The Dryades House and The Dryades Suite. The place was exactly as described. The beds were extremely comfortable and it was nice having ceiling fans in all the rooms. There were enough towels for our stay. We rented both the house and the suite for our group of 7 adults. There was plenty of room. Although we only used the kitchen for the refrigerator and our morning coffee, it was nice having that option. The kitchen was stocked with coffee and creamer, which was nice. After being out all day it was nice coming home and having a drink on the front porch. There is a cute little coffee shop on the block that was so convenient and really made you feel like a local. We dined one night at Pascale’s down the street, and it did not disappoint. The street car on St. Charles is only a few blocks away. I always felt safe. We had trouble with our flight and needed to stay an extra day, so I contacted Val & Renee' and they immediately confirmed that we could stay an extra day and it was handled smoothly without any problems. Thank you for that. We all had a great time and fell in love with the city of New Orleans and I think staying like a local helped with that. Thank you again Val & Renee' for everything and for such a wonderful and memorable stay. If we return to New Orleans we will definitely stay here again.

Tulane University graduation weekend

Dryades House and Suite were perfectly suited to our needs and worked out very well. Like any older homes, (especially in New Orleans where nothing is level) upkeep is imperative and you have done a good job. The house is clean, the kitchen and bathrooms are clean. And it was quieter than I thought given Charlie's restaurant being across the street. Your location is fabulous . . . parking wasn't horrible as I feared since there is no driveway. Only once did we have to park around the corner, otherwise we parked right in front of the house or nearly so. I recommend anyone to rent the house or suite . . . together they worked well for our party of 6. Since our daughter is working in NOLA for another year, we may be in touch!! Thanks.

Charming Suite in an Ideal Location!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a 6-night stay at The Dryades Suite and would not hesitate to rent this stylish and comfortable suite again. My husband, my son (20 years old), and I loved living in this residential, uptown, location during our New Orleans vacation. We felt like residents ourselves, which is why we prefer to choose a VRBO rental when we travel.

The design of the suite is set up so that there can be two, separate, sleeping and living areas; wooden, antique, sliding doors are installed for this purpose. This feature was key to being able to relax during our "down time". All furnishings were obviously chosen with care, and fit our needs very well. We visited a nearby Walgreens to pick up bottled water, drinks, and a few breakfast items, but that's all we needed.

We appreciated the easy, on-street parking in front of the house. We chose to rent a car because we wanted to be able to make some side trips, if we had the time. The streetcar is a quick walk from the suite, and it is also a great option for touring.

The Dryades Suite was exactly as advertised. We have only positive things to report about our communications with the owners and managers of this property. As an added bonus to our trip, we were treated to a street-wide, New Year's Eve celebration, complete with champagne, fireworks, and a party at the owner's house next door! What FUN! We couldn't have asked for a better display of New Orleans hospitality.

“The Dryades Suite” in New Orleans

  • 5 of 5

We had 4 couples staying (a group that goes every year together) and rented both the house and the suite. Planning a weekend for 8 people is like herding cats and the owners where very nice and very patient as they answered all the questions we had.

We had a great time in New Orleans and a large part of a "great time" is not having issues with the accommodations and we had absolutely no problems. The suite was a combination of old New Orleans architecture with modern comforts. The beds where very comfortable including the sofa bed. They where air mattress equipped and felt much like a regular bed. The suite had a mini bar sink and small fridge so bringing home leftovers was no problem and heating them in the toaster oven was simple and easy.

Neighborhood was quiet and an awesome steak house was just across the street. The trolley lines where under construction on St. Charles but even that was only a minor inconvenience. We purchased a 3 day RTA pass and rode all over New Orleans in the very clean and very friendly public transportation.

If you have a large group, I reccomend renting both the house and the suite or if you just want a quiet get away with the significant other, the suite was perfect. We will certainly be looking at this house again for our trip next year and you should as well!!!

Great Location: Near Streetcar and Freret Street

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed this beautiful place and loved the central location. It was near the St. Charles streetcar, Audoban Park, Tulane and Loyola and absolutely loved the Freret Street Corridor-great restaurants, brand new pub-very lovely, very historic-perfect for those who are adventurous and don't mind a bit of walking (4 blocks to streetcar and 6 blocks to Freret) Easy bus catch on Freret to Franch Quarter as alternative to streetcar a bonus. Very safe area-nice parks and schools. Really lovely! Walking distance to Mardi Gras parades as well as Magazine Street.
