Cabin was awesome, had plenty of room for our big family. We had 13 people and we did not feel like we were on top of one another. Beautiful view, clean cabin, very good price. Word of caution, if you need WIFI, this cabin does not have it, but we had pretty good signal for our phones. Overall it was a great stay.
The house was very spacious for my family and another, but that's all I can really say about it. The kitchen has no full set of pots, no mixing bowls, and hardly any utensils. We had a problem with the deck and the bottom floors A/C didn't work. Maintenance came out quick and very nice. Fixed the deck, but the A/C was never fixed. We were able to have a good time anyway.
Cabin that sleeps 14 should only list as 10 since the hide-a-beds were in bad shape and they neglected to leave linens for these beds. Kitchen spacious for a family group of 14 but very sparse on cooking gear (pots, pans, utensils, cups, silverware, etc). If you stay in this cabin don't plan on any major meals. Large table but only 5 chairs. Need more furniture for sitting. Hot tub freshly filled but small for this size cabin. Cabin is in area with many other cabins and apparently they rent to college kids who used this weekend for partying. Passed many people out in the street on the route to and from always partying. This cabin was located at the top of mountain (which provides a wonderful view), but had people partying way into the following morning (very disruptive for both nights we were there). Top floor bathroom shower leaked into bathroom below (maintenance was called and we just didn't use this shower). Cabin had 4 bathrooms which was a plus for the amount of people we had. Game tables were a nice plus. This cabin needs some TLC with all showers having mold in grout and wood floors were very worn. and a comforter which had dried blood on the backside which makes me think they don't get washed very often. Regular beds were pretty comfortable and gas fireplaces were nice. Parking in this whole area was a challenge. Large cabins in this area which didn't allow parking for many cars. We had 5 cars in our party and the neighbor cabin for infringing on our parking which made it a complete challenge for parking. There was no where else to park since the roads are narrow and steep and you can't park along side them. Cabin was very close to Pigeon Forge and centrally located. I only grade this cabin a 3 because of the parking, the hide-a-beds and the noise of other cabins.
Our group of 12 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Grits Carlton. We were there 4 nights. No bugs! Showers needed more attention to cleaning. And the floors could have been better, as well. Other than that, the kitchen and bathrooms were good. The games: pool table, air hockey and foosball were great for the kids, ages 5-17. Very close to tourist attractions.
The view was great! I would certainly recommend The Grits Carlton to others. (BTW, we stopped at the rental office and management offered to have the showers and floors cleaned, but we declined. Just wanted to let them know the cleaning service needed a nudge!)
