poorly maintained

  • 3 of 5

WE arrived and after arrival found multiple items that they company stated was fixed and was not. WE had pool tiles falling off the pool when the kids swam, the rail to the pool was loose and falling off. the outside furniture had one rocker that was broke, the furniture in the front had nails sticking up in them causing one of the lids to get cut son the leg. We had to pound nails in to be able to sit on them. the pool room lock did not work at all, so we had no way to keep the kids out. Had to use chairs to keep it locked. the gate upstairs did not shut tightly and was easy for the kids to undo. cobwebs on the outside were numerous. The sink leaked on to the kitchen floor each night. Some of the shelves in the fridge were broke. just the overall appearance and maintenance of the cabin to a clean appearance and not run down was poorly kept up.

  • 1 of 5

The cabin is in need of repair. The most important reason we chose this cabin was because of the indoor pool. It is also the reason we will not be back. The safety handrail was ripped out of the cement and just lying on the ground. There was rusty jagged metal in its place. We had to throw a basket over it so that our grandchildren would not cut up their feet. The lock to the pool room would not work. My son in law had to fix it but the first night we had to jam a chair against it to assure the children wouldn't try to wander down. I wish I could attach the picture of the spider and all of the dirt that was in the pool. The air conditioning (thermostat) in the pool room also doesn't work. We tried to control the temperature by propping the door open and closed. The bathroom is deplorable and full of mold. Lights don't work. The carpeting smells of mold on the lower level as well. Quite honestly a safety inspector needs to check this place out. I may have to share my pictures with that person to assure that the next family doesn't get sick or worst yet injured. You may want proof of a safety inspection before paying for this amenity. It was not worth the extra cost of having a pool.

Cabin was Ok, but lots of issues led to disappointment.

  • 2 of 5

First was surprised to learn that this property was managed by a big company, Wyndham. There are also signs for sugar maple cabins in the window. So, I am not sure who the actual owner vs. manager is.

As for the cabin, it was nice but several issues led to a very hectic and less than relaxing stay. First the "quality control" team was still at the cabin inspecting it from the group before us ONE HOUR after check-in time. Second, on walking in, none of the lights in the master bedroom were working and the hot tub was turned OFF. Not just cold from refilling (like I was dismissively told); it was off. The lights and hottub were our first call to maintenance. Shortly after we learned that not one but two TV's had all cords unhooked, and even though we are tech saavy, we couldn't unwind the madness. This was second call to maintenance on day of arrival. Third call to maintenance the following day when the cable went out and we discovered the gas to the grill was turned off. I wouldn't stay again because of these issues. Who wants to pay what in my opinion was too much to begin with and stay on the phone with maintenance or waiting for them to come fix something that should've been in working order on arrival the whole time?

As for the cabin itself, it is four stories. I was traveling with my mother and grandmother who had trouble with the 3 sets of stairs from top to bottom. Also the steps get very slippery when wet as they are hard wood; since the pool is on the bottom floor this was an issue for us. There is also a gap in the railing on the steps from the main floor to upstairs; I truly can't believe this is up to code as a small child could undoubtedly fall through.

Also to consider, the pool is on the bottom floor with no windows. We traveled in May but without opening a door, it is so hot and stuffy down there that it's uncomfortable to sit and watch others swim.

Bottom line- lots of maintenance issues, lots of stairs with a gap in railing on one set of them, and a lot to pay to be disappointed.

Loved it!

  • 4 of 5

We loved this cabin. En Route to the city, it was nice to be called and notified that we did not have to stop by the management office to check in. The directions to the cabin were perfect though it was a bit challenging to find our way through the mountains in the dark. The sign identifying the cabin was hidden but thankfully our cabin stood out due to its unique design. Upon entry we found the cabin was very clean, although the seating in the living & gaming areas could stand being re-upholstered and the bedroom comforters replaced as they were somewhat soiled from normal wear and tear. A nice surprise was that the projection screen in the game room has actually been replaced by a nice large screen TV but I think some nice speakers need to be installed to complete the space instead of relying on the TV speakers. The pool was a nice addition, even though we did not use it. The hot tub worked great (would have loved to have a view of the stars while in it, though) and the muti-game arcade system was great-to-have as well.

We did have a few minor issues. Our kitchen faucet was not working and was stuck on the spray nozzle so whenever we turned on the water, it immediatly sprayed at us. It was a small annoyance, but maintenence came out the next day to rectify that issue. As we arrived at night, we planned to grill our dinner instead of heading back down the mountain, but that plan was foiled as nice gas grill on the front deck had no working lights around it so that we could see. No biggie - we cooked inside. Another thing that annoyed us was that we had no access to the WIFI. We called maintenance about it, and they informed us that there is no wifi in the cabin - even though we were looking straight at the router and the SSID displayed "Splish Splash" clearly. There was a couple who owns their own insurance business in our group so it was a little disheartening that they could not connect their PCs to follow up any needed items.

All in all, we had an awesome weekend in this cabin and I would stay in this one again. We even saw a bear walking across the street! After booking our stay, I was a little concerned that there were no reviews for this cabin but those fears were calmed.
