About the property

1 Bedroom, 2 Baths, Sleeps 10

If your lodging needs require a little more than the Bear Necessities then this is the cabin for you. Let this one bedroom cabin be the base for your Smoky Mountain getaway with room to sleep up to 10 people with an extra king sized bed in the loft, two queen sized sofa pullouts, a queen sized bed located in the crow’s nest and a king sized bed in the master bedroom. The kitchen comes fully-equipped to make memorable meals featuring modern stainless steel appliances. Head up to the loft to challenge one another to a game of pool or air hockey then relax on one of the porches while soaking in the private hot tub while looking out over the majestic Wears Valley.

Bear Necessities comes fully loaded with these additional amenities, flat screen televisions, cable, and DVD players; those are just inside. Step out on the deck to enjoy the rocking chairs with your morning coffee or eat your dinner at the picnic table taking in the inspiring views. Take some time to enjoy the mountains and stay in a cabin that has the Bear Necessities plus a little extra.

Located in the beautiful Preserve Resort overlooking Wears Valley, the resort amenities include access to the fitness center, offering a sauna and steam room all on-site. Cool off in the seasonal outdoor pool or unwind in the hot tub. The Preserve also features a chapel and an outdoor pavilion with rocking chairs, a fireplace and a view that can’t be beat.

While heading into Pigeon Forge make a stop at The Coaster at Goats on the Roof for a zippy ride down the mountain coaster then pedal fast to feed the goats…on the roof. If looking for more amusement rides, keep going to Dollywood, full of high flying coasters and other thrills. Have dinner with your show with a visit to Dixie Stampede, the most fun place to eat. For shopping, head over to Pigeon River Crossing Mall for a variety of brand name shops.

Take the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg for a variety of fun attractions. Play a game of mini-golf at Circus Golf, half funhouse half mini-golf for 100% of fun. Visit the Space Needle to get a 360 degree view from the observation deck and at the base catch a show at the Iris Theater which features a variety of shows. Head over to Ole Smokey’s Distillery for a taste test of authentic moonshine being distilled on the Parkway.

With your stay at Bear Necessities you will be among the foothills of the Smokies and not far from the heritage rich town of Townsend, one of the main gateways to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Explore the mountains by horseback with Davy Crockett Riding Stables get out on the beaten path away from all the hustle and bustle. Bring your beach towels and head for the Townsend Y, a local swimming hole where the Little River and the middle prong of the Little Pigeon River join, and sunbathe on the sloping hills while enjoying the pristine nature that surrounds you.

Very peaceful, beautiful view

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we were very pleased. The cabin was very clean. Appliances/TV's were practically new. The leather couch and loveseat are some of the most comfortable I've ever sat on. On the downside, I did not like the porch furniture at all. It was splintery and old. Might want to invest in new or at least some cushions. Also, the amount of light that comes in the large porch windows to the living room is very bright. Definitely wouldn't hurt to hang some curtains that you could pull closed or leave open if you choose. Definitely, also needs a grill on the deck. That stationary grill outside looked gross. We did not use it. FYI, the drive to Kroger took 25 minutes. If you're looking for a cabin in a remote area, this one's for you.
