Our family includes 2 adults, 2 children, and a dog that loves Tahoe. We love the outdoors, the fresh air, the snow, and the people of tahoe are awesome! We love hiking, cross country skiing and snow shoeing from the house. Downhill skiing or snowboarding are great at the local resorts - Heavenly, Sierra-at-Tahoe, and Kirkwood. Don't forget swimming in the lake in the summer and fall!
Rachel Odneal purchased this house in 2005
We built our dream home years ago and lived in South Lake Tahoe for over 8 years. We moved to the Bay Area for family support and more job opportunities. If we could put wheels on this house and move it, we would. It is amazing!
At either end of our street, you can walk in wilderness and trails. But be careful, it can be easy to get lost out there. Star gazers will be in awe of how many they can see from our upper deck at night if you turn all the lights off. We also have amazing wildflowers in the area especially in late spring. Enjoy the gourmet kitchen with oven, 6 burner stove top, large refrigerator, and huge island for preparation.
The house was just ok for the price. We had issues with the owner after we left; claiming things that were untrue with no proof in regards to the number of people we had there and damages to the house. There are plenty of houses on this site in South Lake Tahoe, I would pass on this one and not stay here again because of the issues with the owner and uncomfortable beds.
My family and I stayed at this house for the xmas weekend and unfortunately we were very unpleasant with the house. You only get access to half the house and no garage access at all but it does have a big drive way. On arrival the driveway was not cleared from the snow which at other previous houses they clear it out for us upon arrival. The house has bikes and other equipment listed on the website that you can use but that's a lie. This house definitely needs new beds! All bedrooms except the master bedroom have spring mattresses that were very uncomfortable to sleep on, very hard and squeaky. We also had an issue with the neighbor and she mentioned that there was cameras watching our every move. Totally invaded our privacy. The house in general was just dirty considering that I am a housekeeper and clean for a living. The linens and towels had stains. Over all its a nice house but very unpleasant experience with neighbor and knowing you're being watched, it needs to be cleaner with new beds and a bigger family size TV.
we have pics evidence of this!!
The house itself was big and provided enough space for my extended family of 7 people and 2 babies to stay. Kitchen was large and plenty of space to make big meals. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place due to the poor experience after our departure. The homeowner left no instructions for trash and after our group was there for 4 days we had 4-5 bags of trash and a couple containers of recycling. Even after emailing the homeowner prior to our check out, there were no additional instructions provided. 14 days after our check-out day, the homeowner relayed to me that she would be keeping the entire security deposit due to the excessive trash, an apparent damage to a doorknob and having "3x the number of approved guests". The number of approved guests is 8 people and she insisted that the neighbor (who watches the house constantly) saw 4 people get into each car and called me a liar when I told her we only had 7 adults. When replacing the supposedly damaged doorknob, the homeowner purchased a replacement for $158, which is ridiculous in my opinion as the average doorknob is less than $50-70. She could not and did not provide evidence that we were the ones to damage this in the first place. She also claimed that she was going to charge $50/hr for her to drive up to Tahoe, replace the doorknob and to drive home. The homeowner also stated that we put a hole in the couch, but refused to provide evidence of this. We left the home in very good condition upon our departure and even the trash was placed right by the front door in a organized pile. The homeowner ended up refunding 1/2 the deposit after extensive emails and disagreements, however this was not until 16 days after we checked out. On top of our poor experience with the homeowner, I would not recommend this home because of how uncomfortable the beds are. They claim these were replaced, but they are some of the most uncomfortable beds per all our guests. Unfortunate experience this time around!
Very nice quiet residential neighborhood. We have rented many properties through vrbo and Airbnb in past. This one had the most uncomfortable mattresses we have encountered. Neighbor was nice enough to bring over an air mattress but we all returned from our trip sleep deprived.
The owner seems very nice and is very responsive which was nice.
Our stay at Lake Tahoe was wonderful at this very well maintained property. The extra large kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, dishes as well as salt, sugar, flour, coffee, tea which was really great. Everything was perfect for our group and we did have a memorable getaway!
Our family and friends enjoyed our stay last Valentine's weekend. The kids had a grand time. Lots of space to run around (oh my gosh toddlers), to chase and be chased, hide n go seek, etc. I love love the stove! :) We weren't able to enjoy the backyard but that too was a lot of space. We are already planning our next get together and hopefully this house will be available again. It is only a few miles away from the casinos (for some adult fun), and about 2 miles away is a well stocked up grocery. The owner, Rachel, was very responsive on my emails and questions. Overall, super good value for what we paid for. Thank you Odneals!
