Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This is a nice condo with a shared pool in a quiet part of town, but don't worry there is a lot to do nearby. The beach is about 2 blocks away, there's a restaurant and a convenience store extremely close by as well. A good 10 minute walk and you'll find shops and other restaurants nearby too so you won't be at a loss for places to shop or eat. The AC is very cold (a must have while visiting this area) and the bed is a tiny bit stiff but still quite comfortable. There's also a washer/dryer, fridge, and stove all fully functioning. Also, the other renter's at the property were very nice and helpful which only added to our great experience while visiting. I wouldn't hesitate to book this place again. Lovely spot! A+ rating.

Wonderful holiday at Casa Maya

  • 5 of 5

This was our second 2 week stay at Casa Maya and will not be our last. Easy and seamless check in and check out. With prudent use of air conditioning, our electricity cost for 2 weeks was only $20.00 USD. Opening both patio doors allows the lovely ocean breezes to cool the condo.

The condo was clean, well equipped and comfortable - more like a home rather than a rental unit. Beautiful decor and a comfy new couch.

Beautiful pool and tropical gardens which are well taken care of. Many thanks to the hardworking staff, especially Rocio and David. Any questions or concerns are quickly addressed.

We enjoyed exploring Playa del Carmen and the Maya Riviera as well as spending leisurely afternoons at the pool, meeting other renters, most of whom have stayed previously at the condo complex.

The location is perfect. Quiet and yet within walking distance to bars, restaurants and shopping. The only time we used a taxi was to bring home our groceries from Mega, a 70 peso charge.

We would not hesitate to recommend Casa Maya. A great base to explore the area and experience Mexico.

safe, clean and close

Loved how close to everything we were. The beach and 5th avenue is just a short stroll away. The apartment offered everything we needed. Would come back again.

Nice quiet location with a good pool!

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this condo in early August 2016. The owner was incredibly easy to communicate with and was prompt and helpful with all questions and a few very minor issues that arose. After a bit of miscommunication we also found the property manager to be very friendly and helpful. If I could dole out 1/2 stars I would really give this property a 3.5 (good but just not great). The complex itself is pretty well maintained, the pool area is absolutely essential to enjoying PDC in the summer time and we were often some of the only guests there. The property is located just a block from the ocean, however there was so much stinky seagrass on shore it was impossible to enjoy it. It is also located approximately 2-3 blocks from the north end of 5th Ave.. We found there to be some very nice, quieter restaurants at that end and it was great to get out of the mayhem that is 5th Ave.. I have sort of a mixed review of the condo itself, with some updates and a bit of attention it could be much nicer. First thing you notice when entering the condo is the very damp and very musty smell, this took close to 4 days to dissipate, we were trying to be very conscience and not run the a/c too often but in all honesty it really needs to be run (even when not occupied with guests) with some frequency to dry out to condo. The bedroom walls were all peeling which gives it a pretty old, poorly maintained feel and as a previous reviewer had stated the red sateen sheet are very unappealing, we changed them to a spare, yet very worn and stained set of cotton sheets we found in the dresser. The decor in the unit was very nice and furniture was comfortable enough. It is a small unit so it was nice to have the seating area on the back patio. It was a pleasure to have the washer and dryer in the unit as well, to do a quick load before we continued our travels. I think with a little TLC to a small list of items in the unit that need repair and attention, some updated linens and perhaps having the management run the a/c for a time before guest check in the unit could really benefit!

Owner's Response: I appreciate the constructive criticism and have already asked my manager to purchase a new set of sheets and will carry another down with me in November. I have also asked her to locate and use my dehumidifier between guests. Hopefully this concern will be addressed shortly too.

A Wonderful Stay At A Lovely Condo!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Helen's condo very much. It was exactly what we wanted in an off-resort vacation. Everything was as advertized: The condo was clean, quiet and comfortable (I slept better there than at home!) and very close to the beach and 5th Avenue - tremendous value for the cost. We made lots of use of the pool which was lovely. Helen and Rocio were very responsive and helpful with all my questions. We visited at the end of June, during the "rainy season", and I was a little worried about the forecast which did not look good, but we enjoyed mostly sunny days. The condo is equipped with an umbrella and chairs for the beach, but we preferred to park ourselves somewhere where we could get drinks and food. The best deal we found was at the Cannibal Royal, very close to the condo. You can enjoy the beach lounge chairs as long as you want so long as you order something. We also spent an afternoon at the Mahekal Beach Resort, but they charged 500 pesos per person for the use of the lounge chairs and a 300 pesos food and drink credit. This was our first visit to Playa del Carmen and we loved everything about it, especially how accessible by walking everything is. 5th Avenue stretches for more than 2 miles of a vast variety of shops and restaurants, and it is closed off to cars, so it is lovely to walk it. There is a beautiful Catholic chapel at the other end of the 5th (near the ferry) where you can attend an English Mass on Sundays, or just drop in to pray. We barely put a dent into all there is to see and do in Playa del Carmen - definitely plan to go back, and I would be very happy to stay at Casa Maya again. Highly recommended!!
