The homes open floor plan with four large bedrooms and two living areas make is quite comfortable for two families with kids, 4 couples or just a group of 11 friends that want a relaxing retreat. Sleeps 11 but the back deck entertains 20.
Views from most rooms, come stay with us and relax.
We live 45 minutes away from the property and have enjoyed the region all of our lives. Our children are in high school and college and we have no problem talking them into spending time with us in Key Allegro.
This is our only vacation home and we intend to spend many happy years enjoying friends and family on the Canal.
When that inevitable issue arises you will be dealing with the owners, not an unattached agent. If it is broken, we want it fixed - we might be the very next vacationers in the home.
Brian Schneider purchased this house in 2014
We have always enjoyed gulf and all that it offers. We looked very closely at properties in the surrounding beach towns but all too often found that lifestyle too congested to relax. Key Allegro is an upscale bay front living development that has a limited number of homes that ensures a slower pace but is very convenient to all of the activity of the local beaches.
You will love the comfort and amenities. If we haven't thought of it, drop us a line and I bet it will be there for your next stay. Enjoy and relax.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Coastal Crab. We had 6 adults and 3 kids and the sleeping arrangements worked out excellent. We were there for a family reunion and the kitchen is updated and well appointed with room for several people to work together. The grill and tables on the deck were perfect for outdoor eating and the kayaks and paddle boards were fun for the kids and some of the adults. Having two living areas and two TV's was nice as the kids could be downstairs and the adults upstairs. The furniture and beds were very comfortable as were the extra seating areas both upstairs and downstairs. Having coffee on the deck in the morning and watching the sun rise was so peaceful. I would definitely recommend this property.
We really enjoyed our stay at Brian's house...everything you need for a peaceful and relaxing getaway!! The house is beautiful!
It's really close to Little Bay, good fishing! 5 or so minutes from Rockport beach, a beautiful place. Our 4 year old grandson had a blast.
We just left the Coastal Crab today and were truly sad to go!
This house sits on the canal around many other homes, but we experienced very little noise from any neighbors. It's a great location for getting our boat into the bay.
The house itself was tidy and welcoming although, like most coastal homes, it's beginning to show some signs of wear and tear (ie deck planks loose & rusting on balcony railing).
Having two separate living areas was nice as it allowed the adults to sit upstairs & the teenagers to hang out downstairs. The only negative was there is no "common bathroom"... Although 3 full baths, they are all located inside the bedrooms which made it a little tricky for the people in the 4th bedroom to use restroom late at night or early morning...
Kitchen nicely stocked and well laid out. Spent a LOT of time cooking and hanging out in kitchen/dining area. Beds are comfortable & there were plenty of extra pillows and blankets.
Our highlights were the use of the kayaks, bikes and crab traps. We caught 8 huge blue crabs over course of 3 days which was fun for the kids. We steamed them on our last night there & they were delicious. While kayaking in the canal & out towards bay we were greeted each morning by a dolphin that would swim right in front of you. It even came down into the canal late at night and was feeding on the fish attracted to the green light off the deck. Was a thrill for the kids (and adults) to experience.
We enjoyed excellent weather and fishing was great in the bay. The fish cleaning station is a nice plus as we were able to take fish straight from cleaning station to grill. The deck has plenty of seating & a hammock that was used by many over the long weekend.
Overall, we had a wonderful relaxing weekend & felt the house was the perfect choice for our group. The owner is easily accessible when there is a question or issue. I highly recommend this charming home & hope to visit again!
We loved the Coastal Crab! The kitchen was well-stocked and was our favorite room in the house. The decks in the back were a blast to hang out on at night.
Beds were comfy too.
We'll be back!
First of all, this is not a house for you if you have problems with your knees. When I read there were bedrooms upstairs, I did not understand that the kitchen and main living room were also upstairs. The downstairs, where you enter, is a daylight basement, more or less. The house itself is lovely, but there was a shocking lapse in the housekeeping. There were dirty dishes in the cupboards, dead (and live) cockroaches, a blanket with blood on it, cds and movies not where they should be, broken audio-video equipment, a dirty refrigerator, dirty windows, and more. I contacted the owners about everything, and they did put roach bait out, but it was still icky. About half the bulbs in the house were out or missing. Only a few were replaced.
The air conditioning and other appliances worked great. The beds were comfortable. This is a very nice house, and I'd like to think it was a lapse. But there was at least 20 things wrong that clearly should not have been. I'd likely try another place should I come back to Rockport. If it were my house, I would have refunded a bit or given the tenants a gift certificate or something. But none of that happened.
Beautiful Views. Water Front on the Canal with 70 foot of Dock. Spacious, comfortable home located on a quiet canal in the beautiful Key Allegro development. Located in the heart of this upscale yachting / fishing community only minutes away from the beach, downtown antiquing, art galleries and great restaurants and bars. Rockport is known for its laid back lifestyle, excellent bay and deep sea fishing, bird watching and sailing.
