Lucky for me, my parents moved our family to Idyllwild and into this house when I was a child. I was lucky enough to be afforded the opportunity to grow up in this amazing town. I grew up writing poetry on the deck with only moonlight to illuminate the page, climbing rocks, building snowmen and having many snowball fights with my brother and sister. There were many 'White Chirstimas' mornings and Thanksgiving day hikes. My family still gathers at the house to share laughter, love and tales of life's experiences. It is a place we will always call home and I am excited to share it with you.
Ida purchased this Lodge in 1976
Why Ida chose Idyllwild-Pine Cove
This home was built in 1945, by Lou Britton and has since been owned by the Famous Mystery Author, Earle Stanley Gardner, whose ownership created a local nickname of 'The Mystery Cabin.' I try to create that same sense of awe upon your arrival that I felt as a child walking through the giant wood door and looking up onto the sky high knotty pine ceilings! Wow!
What makes this Lodge unique
Five minute walk to the centre of Idyllwild's restaurants, shopping, music, and art galleries. The homeowner's family has vacationed and lived in Idyllwild for over 46 years and is committed to providing you and your family with personal service to optimmize your stay with us.

The perfect getaway for the whole family!
Just like the photos! Everything was clean and very welcoming. Ida was prompt with responses and very nice. Excellent location for walking to town or nature center and a short distance to trail heads.
Wonderful Family Home
Our family of six had a wonderful time in the home. It is as advertised. Spacious and amenity laden, it's particularly nice that it is so close to town as well.
Lovely Mountain Retreat
Great location. Plenty of parking ( 4 cars) we walked to town from here! The owner, Ida, was a wonderful hostess to this beautiful property. Loved the personal touches that were waiting for us! Master suite shower needs updating, though. Idyllwild is a beautiful area to explore and we’ll be back next year! Thank you, Ida
Every five star review written on this place is accurate. Conversely, in my opinion, any review with less than five stars in inaccurate. We stayed through New Years and enjoyed the small quaint town feel, stunning views from the oversized windows, and roaring fires from the fireplace to name a few. Ida responds within minutes to any questions you have. Thanks for all the wonderful memories Ida!
Ida was a wonderful host and thought of every detail. The house is in an excellent location and came fully equipped with anything we might need! We had plenty of space and had a wonderful time.
The house and surroundings were very nice and accommodating.
We truly enjoyed our stay. The house was large enough to give at least 6 adults space but laid out in a way that provided great areas for togetherness.
Take the Palm Springs Aerial Tram up the mountain and hike down the trail into Idyllwild. Southern California Wine Country (Temecula) is a short 45-60 min. drive and also provides lots of antique shopping in Old Town. A short 30-45 minute drive down either side of the mountain will take you to more than one casino and golf.
