Linda's apartment was truly PERFECT. My mom and I stayed there for a week last October. We fortunately timed our arrival to meet Linda, who was nothing but helpful.. aiding us with our bags up the stairs, showing us around the apartment, and sharing lots of helpful information about the area before she left us with keys, and some welcoming treats. The apartment is in a fabulous neighbourhood...surrounded by great people, so much life, cafes, restaurants, shops, gardens, and more... if we do get back, next time I would hope to stay longer and just hang out in the neighbourhood more, it's that good! It is also easy to hop on the bus, with stops just steps away, and there is tonnes to walk to from the apartment, including many tourist sites, lots and lots of markets, art studios, gelati... all that good stuff! The apartment is spacious and airy, with everything you need. It was nice that my mom and I had our own sleeping quarters.. she had the front room with big bed and tonnes of space and storage, however, it was also a little noisier too, with the life of the neighbourhood going later, and starting early with clean up crews ...and my bed was the very comfy pull out sofa in the sitting room, which was a serene place to wake every morning with birds singing as they passed the quite courtyard below. All in all, for us, it was PERFECT. Great layout, clean, lots of extras like music and internet, kitchen stuff... all the nice things that make you feel like you are at home. And we will hope to do it again one day :) Grazie Linda! We had fabulous stay in Florence.

Perfect place, perfect neighborhood!

  • 5 of 5

Linda's apartment was exactly what we were looking for. The location of the apartment was perfect. It was within walking distance to downtown and most importantly close to where my daughter is staying while studying abroad! I loved the neighborhood. There was a nice cafe for a cappuccino and a wonderful restaurant we discovered right on our street! Delicious food and reasonably priced. The apartment was clean and exactly how it is pictured on the home away site. Linda was available for any questions or concerns. The wifi was worked wonderful in the apartment. It was a definite bonus to have! I loved the apartment and would love to go back! Thank you Linda.

Linda, the apartment, and the neighborhood were exactly what we needed! We researched apartments on the web prior to our visit to see our daughter who was doing her college foreign study in Florence. The website description and list of amenities was most helpful in preparing to travel, and our pleasure only increased as our visit went on.

From the first contact by Linda by phone, she was able to direct us and address our needs, including cell phones, taxis, neighborhood restaurants, WIFI connections and much more!

She was delightful in person as well and a tremendous resource on Italy. We cannot say enough positive things about her; she goes above and beyond what one would expect of an apartment owner.

The apartment itself is absolutely lovely, and well stocked with anything you might need. It is very clean, and well organized.

The linens are lovely, many different weights of bed linens to accommodate fluctuating temperatures and climate. The kitchen utensils, pantry, tableware, and cookware are very tasteful and of good quality. We got so addicted to the coffee maker, we had to purchase one to take home.

The neighborhood of San Niccolo is more authentic than ones closer to some of the larger tourist attractions. It is a pleasant walk to go to the museums and churches, close to Santa Croce, and certainly walkable to the Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vecciho etc. Piazzale Michelangelo is practically in the backyard. There are many lovely places to sit by the Arno River, to rest, enjoy the views, and people watch. You can get just about anything you might need at one of the many stores or restaurants close to the apartment. We bought great Tuscan produce, bread, wine, coffees, croissants etc which reduced our expenses.

It is also a very safe neighborhood, which I appreciated very much. My husband left for a week to attend the Oxford Book Fair, and I was very comfortable staying alone, coming and going after dark etc. Our daughter and her school chums visited and wanted to stay, they loved it so much! The space does accommodate 5 to sleep, although we only had to use the sofa bed for our daughter, who said it was very comfortable, as was our bed.

We would highly recommend Linda and the apartment to anyone visiting Florence, and hope to return one day. When my husband returned to the apartment from the UK, he said he felt like he was coming home! Again, we can't thank Linda enough! Gaylord, Brenda and Anicka Schanilec.

Bel appartement, bien situé.

  • 4 of 5

Nice place, nice owner

  • 4 of 5

Nice place the computer is definitely a plus. The owner is very knowledgeable and friendly so come with a bunch of questions and a notepad if you get to meet her.

Just like most homeaway places there's usually left over stuff from other guests, this time we had some detergent so that was great.

There were a couple hurdles such as finding something to cover getting the computer connected to the Internet etc but as the owner Linda has indicated just ask her for help if there's a problem. Though that one might be difficult for a non IT person.

One thing I guess we have to remember is that these places aren't hotels so one has to be somewhat independent. Also every isn't going to be perfect. If one needs hand holding one should probably get a hotel.

My sister wanted the beds to have everything on them covers, sheets, spreads as opposed to having to put them on ourselves, thought I should say that. She also thought the stairs were a little daunting. She liked the location.

The bath stall is pretty small so don't be big and/or tall but otherwise you're good. There are supermarkets somewhat close but things close up at 8 or 9pm and don't forget about siesta.

Lots of books on Italy and Florence.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review! You were such a lovely family although perhaps you did need a 24 hour concierge service like in a four star hotel!! The apartment is supplied with detergent, shampoo, coffee, tea, soap, toilet paper, tissues and most amenities just like a Hotel. They are not left overs from last guest I buy everything to keep the apartment stocked up. There is ONE CUPBOARD full of clean pillow covers, sheets, quilt covers, blankets and fresh towels. Most apartment rentals actually have you pay extra for one set of linens and towels. I have a large number clean in the cupboard for you to use at your disposal. I used to prepare the beds with clean sheets although I found that MOST guests prefer to add clean sheets so they no that for sure they are new and fresh!! The apartment building is an original medieval tower from the 14th century therefore when you visit a historical city you have to prepare for stairs!! the bathroom is of course small as it was added to the structure after the building was restored another something you have to prepare for. You will find bathroom in Europe are smaller than in new cities!! You forgot to mention I responded to all 50 of your sms messages that you sent me during your two night stay!! Best

The apartment is situated in the San Niccolo quarter on the 'oltra-arno' (the southern side of the river). One of the most charming typical neighborhoods of Florence with a local atmosphere.

You will find authentic restaurants, wine bars, pizza shops, butchers a wonderful bread store that also sells to go hot meals prepared passionately by owners, nearby supermarkets, a number of specialty stores that sell local wine, cheese and salami.

We are a short walk from the look out point of Piazzale Michelangelo where you can see the most beautiful view of the city. A perfect place to walk up to see the sunset ! Our apartment is situated below this look out point. There is a lovely cool breeze that arrives from this hill in to the apartment. All windows have screens to keep MOSQUITOS out to ensure a maximum comfort during summer(screens are very rare!)

Just a 15 minute walk to the Cathedral (2.48miles / 4 km) and a 12 minute walk to the famous 'Ponte Vecchio' (0.49 miles / 0.8km)
