Nice rustic cabins you can tell have been enjoyed for many years. Beautiful views! There is no real "beach", however there is a rocky path (be careful!) that takes you down to the water, if you can stand to fight off the swarms of clingy, biting marsh flies. The location is right across the street from the only grocery store/market in town, which was nice. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to rent this place again!!
We were looking for something down off the mountain close to the action, and we were really pleased with these cabins. They are right across from the market and about a mile away from the marina (and restaraunts in the opposite direction). They were definitely older and more rustic family cabins, but we thought it was charming. The space is close quarters, but we didn't spend much time inside anyway. Kids spent almost their entire time outside while adults played cards inside and watched a movies at night. Kids loved the log bunk bed and futon. We loved the outdoor fire pit on the beach. Lots of space for frisbee and games on the lawn. Everything was clean and tidy when we arrived and the owners were gracious about extending our check out. The only drawback was lack of access to the water, but that is to be expected when water levels are so low. It was obvious the water was at the property line in previous years. We rented jetskis down the road a bit and spent part of the day playing in the lake at the beach near the rental company. We would definitely book here again and bring friends. There is a back cabin that sleeps 6-8 more.
We had such high hopes for this property - being on the shore, so close to town was a highlight we were very excited about. Unfortunately, the outdoor space is about the only thing we ended up being happy about. The outdoor firepit was a lot of fun, as was paddle boarding, badminton, and the hammocks. That's about where it ends. The interior of the cabin looks like it has not been updated since 1970, which in itself wouldn't be bad, if it hadn't looked like it had been that long since it was cleaned. The flooring was awful - I wouldn't walk barefoot in there. The table has a glass overlay on it, and there was so much food and dirt underneath it, we couldn't eat at the table... we had to eat outside. The bathrooms are tiny, and the shower curtain is moldy and disgusting. The heat register in the bathroom had so much dirt and dead bugs in them, it caused your gag reflex to engage. There is no dishwasher - no problem there, until you have to wash the dishes before you use them due to the dried on food from the previous renters. The refrigerator froze all our food, even after we turned up the settings on it. And that red you see along the roofline of the photos - make no mistake, it's red coke bottle glass, which in the mornings turns everything inside red, so you cannot tell if you're mixing lemonade or if you mistakenly got red kool-aid instead. At least the linens were clean, although the sheets did not fit on the queen size bed, so we constantly had to pull them up. This is the first and last time we stay at this property.
We absolutely loved the deck and the view of the lake. The mornings and evenings were spectacular! The beach is not useable, we went elsewhere to play in the lake. The inside is very rustic and quaint. It was not great for 8 adults as the beds are only full sized and the bathrooms are small and have no outlets. Getting ready was a mess. The place seemed clean, but not well maintained. There is no room to hang out inside, but fortunately we were not inside much. The weekend had great weather. It is old and needs some work as doors don't shut tight.
I would not stay there again, but our family has some great memories.
The location of this property is ideal being it is directly across the street from the grocery store. The views are beautiful. As other reviews have pointed out there is no beach and if you care to traverse the swampy area you could make it to the water. The cabin is located less than a mile from the marina which was convenient for using a watercraft. Everything in the cabin functioned as expected except the indoor fireplace which we didn't need during the summer. We enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to rent this place again.
Bigger than expected based on pictures. There was no toilet paper, dish soap, or trash bags on the property, so we needed up purchase unexpected supplies. More rustic than expected, windows that opened were not placed where we could get airflow. The person renting seemed inconvenienced and put out when I asked questions about the property. Beach and shore was accessible via a long stroll to sticky black mud that ate shoes. We enjoyed our stay, the group loved the cabin.
