Recently renovated 1 bedroom garden level apartment with lots of light. Just 1 block from the city bus line and the free trolley line which take you to any of the many excellent restaurants located in Charlottesville. It's also very close to UVa and UVa Medical Center. This adorable apartment has a full kitchen with a dishwasher if you want to dine in. It also has a washer/dryer if a longer stay is what brings you to town.
If football is your game, you are exactly 1 mile from Scott Stadium - about a 20 minute walk and none of the traffic headaches.
It's only slightly farther to Central Grounds, making this a convenient place to stay when visiting friends or family at the University.
The apartment includes one queen size bed and has a couch that can pinch-hit as a bed for a smaller person.
After wandering around the country for a while, I returned to Charlottesville in 2007 to be near family in the area. Although I grew up in Northern Virginia and had family there, I had fallen in love with Charlottesville when I finished my undergraduate work at the University of Virginia. Coming back to Charlottesville felt like coming home, and I decided to buy and settle in for the long haul.
Westley purchased this apartment in 2010
I bought this house because the weeping cherry tree up the street was in bloom, and when I first looked at the house, I could hear children playing up the street. I liked that it was in a quiet neighborhood with families and mature trees. I loved that almost all of the houses on the street were mid-century modern. I also love that I can walk to football games and be most anywhere in town pretty quickly. And if I don't feel like driving, cabs are inexpensive because of the central location.
Walking to the football stadium is a huge plus. I can enjoy tailgates but avoid the traffic issues. I'm 5 minutes from my gym and 5 minutes from my office. I'm also close to many great local restaurants.
We walked into the apartment after a long day, the kids took a look around, and said to me "Everything Is Awesome" (of course they are Lego fans). I have to agree with them. The apartment was perfect for our purposes. Tastefully decorated, all the essentials there, kitchen has the basics and of good quality, and everything is there for a nice hot cup of coffee or tea. The queen bed was very comfortable and had nice linens. Westley is quick to respond to any questions. Would definitely consider this for any future trips back to Charlottesville. Thanks Westley!
Property was very clean and had all the necessary items, including washer dryer, full kitchen, and tv and cable. Manager was extremely accomodating. Apartment was quiet and neat.
Overall it was a good stay. The place was clean and very spacious. The bed was super comfortable!
It's a basement apartment so you can occasionally hearthe upstairs neighbors stomping around. Also, I was woken up briefly by the dogs barking at the wee hours of the morning.
Very clean and charming studio. Private, quiet and conveinent to downtown and UVA.
We stayed at Hoos Rest for a month while house-hunting in Charlottesville this summer. It was the ideal location to soak up the local vibe while enjoying easy access to all the areas we wanted to explore. Westley’s apartment was perfectly furnished with everything (and more!) we needed to feel at “home away from home”—the Tempurpedic mattress was more comfortable than any bed we’d ever slept on! As a place to cook our own meals, search the daily house listings (using the WiFi provided), and get a great night’s sleep, we couldn’t have chosen a better spot. Even though the apartment is in a garden-level basement, it has big windows and is brightly decorated in a cool, artsy way. Hearing Westley overhead getting ready for her early-morning work-outs was actually great motivation for us to get moving and make the most of our day too. Her hospitality and flexibility were second to none! She was so friendly and gracious about accommodating our changing schedule and she gave us an awesome monthly rate! Thank you, Westley!
My wife and I stayed the weekend while visiting my brother in Charlottesville and were pleased to find such a great place to stay. It was clean and quiet. The bed was incredibly comfortable. We didn't use the kitchen much, but were excited at the possibility of having a full kitchen if needed. We were able to do a load of laundry with the washer and dryer in the apartment which was a great addition. It is close to downtown with easy access to anything you could need. Great experience and will probably stay again when visiting!
Located close to the University, this property allows for an easy drive to University events but is located in a quiet neighborhood. The property includes a full kitchen as well as a washer and dryer. About 1 block from the city bus line and the free Trolley, it's also a short cab ride downtown, if you don't feel like driving. If you do feel like driving, you won't have to go far to find a wide variety of excellent restaurants, from inexpensive to high end. At 1 mile to the football stadium, you can walk to football games and avoid the parking mess - it only takes about 20 minutes. When you have finished exploring the University and other historical sites in town, a short drive takes you to Monticello, Ash Lawn-Highland, Michie Tavern and Montpelier. Go a little further and you're on Skyline Drive and enjoying Shenandoah. Charlottesville offers a wide variety of things to do, and this apartment offers a great central launching point.
