Steve and Jackie Slana purchased this property to allow vacationers to have an opportunity to enjoy Wisconsin lakefront living. We both enjoy various water activities along with creating memories with friends and families.
Victor Slana purchased this house in 2007
We wanted a location within a reasonable drive of Chicago and Milwaukee. We feel 'stay-cations' will become more popular with people trying to balance play and work.
We arrived to a wonderfully clean house totally stocked with everything you'd ever need in your own house. What a pleasure. Very nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed all our meals out on the deck. The lake was surprisingly quiet. There was a lot of activity, but the noise never bothered us at all, and we were outside all day. Having kayaks and the paddleboat was great fun. The train horns were something I don't hear very often. Personally, I liked them. After a while they tended to blend in because we were laughing so much.
The only draw-back would be the size of some of the rooms. The eating areas were a bit crowded, and the kitchen was small for five women...haahaha, my excuse for not doing much of the cooking. The two downstairs bedrooms were snug, but didn't have much room for suitcases or clothes. I think that would be even more of a problem in the winter, and even more so if two were sleeping in each room.
This is the first year we had to rent a place for our annual get-together, and I'd say it was a great success. Thank you from the Bxxxxxxx Babes.
We lucked out when we found this property. The property we rented to take the grand kids skiing had a burst pipe so it was not available. We found this property on short notice and were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The house is large with more than enough room. It was very comfortable. The Italian restaurant (within walking distance) was very good. The property is about a 5 or 10 minute drive from the ski area. It had everything we needed to change what looked like a disaster to a very pleasant stay. The owners were accommodating and informative. We will not hesitate to use the property again, perhaps in the summer when we visit again.
The house was very clean and spacious. The owners were very nice and professional. Cant wait to come back and visit!!!
Perfect venue for our mini-family reunion! We hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 15, and had a wonderful time visiting, dining and watching Bears vs Packers football! WooHoo! The kitchen was well stocked, and cooking our Thanksgiving meal was a breeze.
Lake Geneva was minutes away and we stole away to see the beautiful Christmas lights at the Geneva Grand Resort. Shopping in town was also a treat! Various boutiques and specialty shops offered unique gifts for every budget.
Pleasant Prairie Outlet shops were mere minutes away, and Black Friday ready. Dining, grocery shopping, Red Box rentals and bowling were all within a short drive. And no matter the weather, our holiday was ideal! Great venue, comfortable digs, and a great location. Highly recommend this property no matter the season.
Our family was able to reconnect, relax and enjoy each other's company, and Silver Lake's quiet, autumnal beauty. Our hosts really know how to make visitors
The house was perfect for our large group! It slept 11 people very comfortably and could have easily slept a few more on sofa sleepers. There is a TV in every room (not that we used them really) and tons of extra bedding.
We were immediately impressed with how clean and updated the entire home was and how well stocked it was with anything you could need for the kitchen including a blender, a crockpot, and tons of spices.
The lake is peaceful and beautifully stunning. The dock is perfect for small kids as it is only about 3 feet deep all the way from the pier out to the buoys. You have to go pretty far out to get deep. There is a free public small beach just a few doors down that you can walk to that the kids enjoyed searching for shells at and it was never too busy. There are rigid no wake rules (no wakes before 10 or after 7) but we still had plenty of time to ski, wake board and tube. We caught some large Northern Pike right off the dock thee and the kids loved catching the tiny blue gills. Just be sure to get your Wisconsin fishing license, because they do check frequently.
We went into nearby Paddock Lake almost daily for groceries ( you run out of things very quickly with 11 people) and it was a quick drive to a very friendly town. Directly across the street from the home is a cute little "dive bar" named Silver City Suds and they have pool, darts and very friendly owners. Honestly, their buffalo wings were the best we had ever had! Highly recommended!
I would recommend this home to anyone with a large group or looking for a fun, peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. The owners were a breeze to work with and it was ideal.
Great stay...great location...very clean...great owners ...Can't wait to return !
We taveled to Silver Lake with another family for a great week! There were 8 of us - 4 adults and 4 kids (ages 13, 11, 9, and 6.) This was a perfect layout for us. The parents stayed in the downstairs bedrooms and the kids all stayed upstairs. Having a TV area in the upstairs area was nice since the kids and the parents didn't always want to watch the same thing. The kids could easily fish on the dock with supervision from the deck (we had a rule that lifejackets were always on). Kayaks and We were within easy walk to the public beach (just a few houses away). The owner was great. My daughter had broken her arm a week prior to our trip and when I emailed to ask about board games to keep her occupied, the owner brought extra games out to us for the week. Sunrise was gorgeous on the deck. We did a day trip to Milwaukee and a day trip to Gurnee, IL. There are several nice golf courses within a short drive. We cooked most of our meals, but we enjoyed the Italian Restaurant and the Fish Fry that they offered in town. Would highly recommend!
