Beautiful Vacation Place
We had a wonderful holiday at Castelli Cottage. The house was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. There were plenty of seating areas outside and inside for the whole family to hang out together, while the spacing of the bedrooms and the many bathrooms ensured that there was also privacy when wanted. The house is surrounded by olive trees and the view and the sunsets are amazing.
The owner, Matina, was very accommodating of our whole family as well as being flexible with check-in and check-out times which was so appreciated with a toddler. We loved staying here and had a blast!
Fantastic family reunion with lots of biking and swimming
We had a wonderful time in Cottage Castelli; the house and gardens are very tastefully renovated and beautifully maintained. We loved interacting with Matina the owner and Stephen the neighbor. We will be back !!
Well maintained. Traditional, utilitarian Kitchen. Well appointed outside areas
Uniquely situated, fantastic views, very tranquil in a small community-the whole family loved it. Steve who lives locally very good on advice and help. Martina gave us a delightful welcome and reliable local recommendations. Definitely small ish car or jeep as long winding hillside track through the olive groves, but you soon master it.
Would thoroughly recommend to all those who love traditional Corfu.
Amazing location and very charming house
The situation is splendid, the view of the mountains and the sea, being in the middle of the olive trees is unique. The sunsets are beautiful. The outside and the inside of the house are confortable with all you what you need to rest and eat outside, barbecue and great swimming pool. It is perfect to be shared by two families with children. Matina is so friendly, her advices are very good (beach, shopping), that you can feel living in the real Greece. One topic to be noticed : it is better to rent a jeep or a small car to reach the house. Unfortunately this summer there were a lot of wasps.
Beautiful house and surroundings. Peace, quiet and nature ... cicadas and crickets. Very friendly hosts and neighbors, Stephen and Maggie:) Great furnished house with atmosphere and comfort, away from the hustle and bustle of resorts yet close to the beach. Very clean and functional. Big house, good split, allowing you to enjoy the place together or separate from the rest of the guests. Gorgeous, with views of the valley and the sea terrace with swimming pool. Great place for a reasonable price. Thanks for everything!
A little piece of heaven!
We enjoyed one of the most relaxing and peaceful holidays we have ever had at Castelli Cottage. We booked very early and unbeknown to us, Stamatia had worked like mad all through the winter and spring to upgrade this delightful old house inside and out, providing more shaded sitting out areas and installing a further terrace with a delightful pool. Everything went smoothly right from our arrival with great communication both with Stamatia and her neighbours Stephen and Maggie who were really helpful and friendly. We were also befriended by a couple of the village cats and dogs who were never a nuisance but sometimes liked to loll around in the shade keeping us company. As soon as we arrived we dropped all our plans for driving out to visit old haunts around the island and spent a delightful week lounging by the pool and enjoying the stunning views over the north west of the island, watching the birds, barbecuing and reading. Acharavi was an easy 10 minute drive for excellent shops when we needed supplies! People have mentioned the track up to the Cottage but it's fine as long as you don't have too big a car. Finally, we had the luxury of having Castelli Cottage to ourselves but since Stamatia has now renovated the adjoining Olive Press with the same immaculate taste as is evident throughout the property, Castelli would also be great for extended family groups or perhaps for art or walking groups too. We are already wondering who we might like to share this little piece of heaven with another time. Thank you Stamatia for a wonderful holiday.
From a distance, Fourni village looks like a hamlet perched on one of Mount Pantokrator’s hillsides, as an eagle’s nest, on a cliff’s edge, that of Castelli. At half the distance of the road connecting Episkepsi and St Panteleimon villages, starts a 600 m. winding road, among centenary olive trees, leading to Fourni. Fourni, perched at 400 m. , is a linear agglomeration, consisting of 8 residential properties. The road ends when reaching the third house. You can access to the other houses through paths and courtyards. The agglomeration composition and form was established during the Interwar period, and remains unchanged to today.
The nearest village, Episkepsi, located among olive trees, has magnificent manors and picturesque houses and alleys with stone steps. There is a mini market for the bare essentials and a few barbecue taverns.
Within 4 km and at a 37 km distance from Corfu Town lies the Acharavi village, built on a plain with particularly dense vegetation. Mostly impressive is its 8 km sand beach , one of the largest in Corfu. Here you can find super markets, restaurants, pharmacies, bike and car rentals , and many shops to meet all your needs during your stay in Corfu.
Fourni’s key location at the center of Northern Corfu makes it the ideal starting point for many beaches and attractions. The whole north coast is easily reachable: Sidari, with its impressive formations of sedimentary rocks, St Spyridon with Antinioti, the protected lagoon, Kassiopi and Kouloura with their picturesque bays and their crystal clear waters, as well as the whole north-eastern and north-western coast with a plethora of beaches for any taste. Fourni is also surrounded by a lot of interesting upland villages, such as Lafki, Petalia, Strinyla with great food and wine, Spartyla with the formidable view, Klimatia and Nymphes with their running water and magnificent falls , and Old Perithia, a traditional abandoned village, recently partially restored, with stone alleyways and houses, and numerous churches and manors. In this village the visitor feels like time has stopped.
Of course, one should not fail to visit the Holy monastery of Pantokrator (Transfiguration of the Saviour), located at the island’s highest point (920 m) on the top of Mount Pantokrator, from where one can see, when the weather allows it, the whole island of Corfu and the Albanian coast. The walkers often organize trips to visit the mountain through beautiful, well-maintained trails, where they can enjoy nature’s greatness.
