UNIQUE LOCATION: The house is one of only 3 homes overlooking Deep Hollow Ranch (featured in the Showtime series, 'The Affair', and is located on a winding country road in one of Montauk's most exclusive south-of-the-highway neighborhoods (most other homes on this street are ocean front). The Lighthouse and Camp Hero State Park are down the road, with 1000's of acres of state and county parks with hiking, horseback riding and biking trails are adjacent to the property. The dock area and our favorite restaurants are nearby and town is 3 miles away. Ditch Plains Beach is 1.5 miles to the west.
CLOSE TO BEST BEACHES: Walk to a secluded beach using the beautiful Amsterdam Beach Trail (it’s a 15-20 minute walk) where you’ll have access to some of Montauk’s best (and least crowded) waves. Ditch Plains Beach is a 3-minute drive or a 7-minute bike ride. Nearby bay beaches include Gin Beach and Southlake Beach.
OUTDOOR LIVING: We are excited about our new heated 14’ x 38’ gunite pool. French doors lead from the living room to a covered porch with sofa and chairs and there are 2 slate patios with comfy seating areas and teak dining table, Weber Grill, and hot tub in a secret garden. Rolling lawn with chaises, Adirondack chairs and a hammock overlooking the fields complete outdoor living spaces.
THE HOUSE: This is our home so you won’t feel like you’re getting just the basics as you would with some rentals. Highest quality linens, beach towels provided. Kitchen is fully stocked with anything you might need to prepare and serve a wonderful meal. Seating for 10 at the antique harvest table. New Mitchell Gold sofas in the TV/family room with flat screen TV. Belgian linen sofas in the living room.
*MASTER/GURST SUITE: 400 square foot master/guest suite with queen bed, and en suite bathroom (with shower) will be ready early Spring 2015. The bedroom has cathedral ceilings, French doors and its own private patio. Check back for photo updates.
Full time Montaukers with 2 grown kids who were born and raised here (they know how lucky they are!). We are passionate surfers and outdoors lovers. A cabinet maker and graphic designer who built and decorated this home with attention and care.
We love being close to some of Montauk's most beautiful (and most exclusive) beaches. We love surfing and there are few other homes that are this close to the best breaks in the area. We are adjacent to 1000's of acres of parkland and overlook pristine fields and the ocean.
This is a very beautiful house and property. The interior is beautifully designed with very comfortable beds and lots of space. We loved the view of the countryside and the horses. Very peaceful and relaxing. We would definitely return. Owners were very helpful and responsive directing us to all the local activities and restaurants.
My family and I spent the better part of two weeks at this lovely, special home and had an amazing time. The hosts were wonderful from start to finish (responsive, helpful, personable), and really wanted us to be happy during our stay. The house is beautiful, clean, and everything else a person could want in a rental while retaining tons of personality and charm (this is a lovingly built family home during the rest of the year). For us, the most amazing part of the stay were the property and the views. The house is set on a quiet, removed piece of land with stunning vistas of grazing horses and open pastures. There were pretty birds everywhere, turtles and bunnies and foxes crossing our path from time to time, and adorable places to sit and enjoy it all, inside and out. Highly recommended, though I hope it won't be too busy to return!
Our first time to Montauk (2013) we rented this home and couldn't have been happier. Great location outside of town makes for a truly peaceful retreat. This home is artfully decorated while comfortable, perfect for a family with children. The grounds are lovely and we spent much time in the backyard reading, playing ball with our children and watching the horses graze just beyond the property line. Close access to Montauk's best hiking trails came as a surprise and the owner Jill graciously guided us on a hike to the Warhol Estate! An easy drive or bike ride to town and beaches makes this house ideal. We've already rented for 2014!
The month we spend here was a wonderfull experience for our family. We came from Paris, where we live, with our two kids to have an american experience and have the opportunity of being into the wild for a while :-)
All was positive: the house, the garden, the views and of course the owners thet have being very nice with us! We were so happy that we repeat the experience July 2013!

My husband and I spent two weeks with our children (ages 9 and 12) plus nanny at this charming farm house. This is a tastefully decorated home with lovely pastoral views and a big back garden. The furnishings and beds were all comfortable, and the linens provided were good quality. We appreciated all the fluffy towels and great showers!
The kitchen is great for those who want to cook, and there is everything you need to make big family meals. All the equipment worked well, including the big washer & dryer, which we used a lot after our long days of biking and surfing.
We found it more convenient to drive to the surf beach, but enjoyed the location for its serenity and charm. It isnt too far to bike to the beach or town, which we all did a few times. The best restaurants are a short drive away (although we preferred eating at the big farm table in the kitchen).
The owners are very nice local people and couldnt have been more helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this rental to anyone with a family who wants to be outside the traffic zone of downtown Montauk.
There's no place like... this place in Montauk.
Our family usually rents in Nantucket but last year we decided to change things up and rent in Montauk. This is the best hours we've ever rented - for lots of reasons, it's totally charming, the setting is truly breathtaking, the views are spectacular, my kids loved the huge lawn and the beaches, which are really close. (The owners were great in every way and helped us get permits). Everything was so comfortable - but more than that, it was a real home with beautiful artistic touches. I almost didn't want to write a review because we'll be back for sure! It's a hidden gem.
