This darling cottage was a newly-weds dream built by our own Grandy and Grandma with the help of their builder relatives. Now freshly renovated throughout, step into the special charm of its original pine paneling and great-Grandma’s braided rugs. Relax in the ambiance of the woods in front of a crackling evening fire; swim or catch tiny crabs in the seaweed at sandy Light House beach a mile away; or enjoy bustling Boothbay Harbor with its many tourist attractions and water activities within 5 miles. The queen bedroom and bunk bedroom are perfect for a young family of 4 or a romantic get-away for 2. Two small hide-a-beds in the living room allow 2 more to be squeezed in. Pet friendly.
For the second year in a row we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was neat and clean. We loved it and we look forward to returning again next year. The property and the amenities were as described. The area is beautiful and Southport Island is away from the busyness of Boothbay Harbor but is also only minutes away. I certainly have and will again recommend this place to friends and relatives. Robinson's Wharf is a great restaurant for lobster and steak and it is where we traditionally have our first night dinner. It is on the island and only minutes away from the cabin. Mama D's is our favorite place for lunch and is located on Union St. in Boothbay Harbor. Another great restaurant is Brown's Wharf in Boothbay Harbor where you can dine on the deck if the weather is appropriate. The Botanical Gardens are well worth a visit.
Ellen and Craig, thank you once again for sharing your lovely Southport cottage with us. We love the comforts of the cottage, as well as the beautiful setting on Southport Island. It was nice to see Jeff again this year, and we feel very fortunate to be so well looked after.
Hope to stay again next August!
P.S. We visited the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden for the first time this year and it was spectacular!
We loved this cottage--so woodsy and cozy, a perfect getaway. We loved the quiet and the forest, but also the easy access to the general store and Cozy Harbor. We also really enjoyed the classic knotty pine feel, and the modern touches (like a washing machine). The cottage is really well-maintained, and we had everything we needed. We'd go back in a heartbeat!
What an amazing place! It is just off the beaten path, surrounded by trees, and oh so comfortable, with up to date appliances and a fully outfitted kitchen. The caretakers stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed, and even came back to drop off a goodie bag for our dog! The location is perfect - close to Boothbay Harbor, the Aquarium and the Botanical Gardens (which are incredible and a MUST see). We would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone that is looking for convenient, but quiet place to stay in the area.
Our stay was only 5 days but it was exceptional. We were greeted with a beautiful basket of goodies, a very clean well stocked cabin. The manager's of the cabin came to visit and welcome us, they asked if we needed anything and told us so much about close by places that we may like to see. We always felt like we were returning to our own cabin for those five days. I recommend this cabin to anyone it was a fabulous time!
We loved everything about this little cabin in the woods on beautiful Southport Island! It was the perfect size for the four of us. The cabin was impeccably clean and had everything we needed for the week. Nearby Boothbay Harbor is amazing! We can not wait to return! Thank you to the wonderful owners and great managers for making the whole process so easy and wonderful! I highly recommended this cabin to anyone wanting to experience this great area in Maine!
