For over a decade, proprietors Gene and Elaine Blood have been welcoming travelers to Hill court Bed and Breakfast, with many of their guests returning summer after summer. One reason is Hill court's enviable location---it offers the quiet green lawns and trees of a residential neighborhood combined with walk-able access to the hustle and bustle of downtown. The guestroom itself (with private bath)is also amazingly private, sitting alone on the third floor and top floor of the sunny residence. Breakfast is another reason people return--fresh pastry, fruit, juices, cereal and coffee or tea all served either inside the cozy kitchen or on the house's beautiful covered deck. As Hill court's only guests on any given visit, you will feel like you are in a home away from very near to all that Newport has to offer.
We feel in love with Newport 25 years ago while sailing. Moved down here 20 years ago and it has surpassed our expectations. Many great things to do and wonderful restaurants, shops, museums and activities. Something for all ages. Swimming, hiking, golfing, bicycling, fishing, are all at your fingertip.
Within walking distance to all Newport has to offer. Off street parking and quiet location.
Our recent stay at Hillcourt B & B was truly a fine example of the essence that we have come to enjoy when utilizing numerous Home Away locations over the years.
Elaine and Gene's gift of hospitality is evident from the moment they greet you with their smiles and an immediate sense that you are a part of their warm/ welcoming home.
Along with their desire to make sure all of our interests and needs were met, ranging from our comfortable room to a great breakfast each morning , it was our greatest joy to just sit and talk with them while learning more about the history of Newport and contemporary activities that the typical tourist would never know.
We were so blessed - and refreshed - during our time with this special couple that plans for return stays in the months and years to come were initiated as soon as we found ourselves pulling out of their driveway.
Thank you again Elaine and Gene!! Hope to see you soon......
We attended a weekend Wedding Event July 8 - 11 2016 in Newport Rhode Island. We were very fortunate to find Hillcourt Bed and Breakfast
Elaine and Gene were Fabulous Hosts. Their Lovely Home has a Private 3rd Floor Bedroom with Full Bath, Airconditioning and Flat Screen TV
Parking at their door is a breeze, a welcome benefit
Each morning Gene prepares a Lovely Breakfast...Fresh Fruit, Yogurt, Muffins etc to be enjoyed on their Patio or in their dining room area
Spotlessly Clean, and easy walking access to Thames Street and downtown Newport.
Elaine and Gene share lots of helpful information about Newport and are a Delightful Couple
We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and will look forward to our next visit
We had a wonderful stay! Gene and Elaine are wonderful people who truly care about their guests! Their house feels like a home and was close to everything we did, but far enough to get out of the the hussle and bussle of downtown!
We had a great time in Newport over the July 4 weekend! The house was lovely and the hosts very accommodating. We parked at the house and walked to dinner and the great July 4 fireworks display.
Elaine and Gene are wonderful hosts!
We were in Newport for a long weekend wedding festivities.
Their accommodations were very clean and comfortable with an
awesomely comfortable bed. We entered their home through the front
door and took a step-landing stairway up to a third floor room with
separate private bathroom with shower. We came and went
as we pleased and they could not have been nicer people!
Their home is situated on a quiet private driveway which backs up to wooded lot
with only one other house. We slept soundly and enjoyed the quintessential sound of a
distant lighthouse fog horn from out in the Newport Bay!
Thank you Elaine and Gene for letting us stay with you!
Don't be afraid to stay just outside tourist central in Newport is the moral of our story. We saved a significant amount of money while still enjoying the amazing hospitality of Gene and Elaine and their comfortable home. In return we had peace and quiet and easy parking all while still being in walking distance of waterfront parks and Thames street. Gene especially is a wealth of knowledge with plenty of good recommendations and if you time it right he even gives some of the historical tours of town!
