Let me introduce myself, I am Alfreda McDonald but I prefer Eva my husband Robby, and I live in California on the coast between Monterey and Santa Cruz. In 2014 we decided to invest in our beautiful vacation home in a extraordinary location. We have enjoyed renting our lovely Hawaiian home for many years, and would be most delighted to have you and your family enjoy our wonderful House of Love by the Sea.
Alfreda McDonald purchased this house in 2004
I fell in love with the home in 2004 the location is unbelievably beautiful and the ocean can be seen from all rooms on the property. Our home is easy to get to from the Hilo International Airport and I can get our supplies and get home in 20 minutes after a tiring flight.The home is our retirement home which we are enjoying renting to travelers like yourself. Aloha.
This is beautiful home besides a place to sleep eat and clean up it has many amenities that can't be beat. Sitting out back in the morning having tea and watching the sun rise, or feeling the cool breeze in the afternoon heat. Oceanfront is very special few homes have this distinction, ocean views, the sound, and taste of salt on your lips. I love to take a night time swim in the salt pool or a morning swim to wake me up:) It's the ideal home for the family vacation staying in a safe, neighborhood setting close to shopping, restaurants and all kinds of recreation.

We brought along a lot of family and friends to join us for our wedding in Hilo. We rented this house for a week, and 8 of us stayed there. While we were there, we hosted a few evenings of having the rest of our friends over to socialize.
The house was very clean and beautiful when we first got there. As we settled in, we also found it comfortable and homey. There was plenty of space to sit and talk, both inside and outside. We could just walk out the back door and enjoy the view of the ocean and the waves crashing on the rocks.
The house was well equipped with everything we would need in the kitchen, and a reasonable wifi setup. We also borrowed one of the coolers in the garage for our big outing to Kona one day. All in all, except for food and a few minor supplies, we had everything we needed.
We loved this place, and the memory of it will be a big part of the memories of our wedding. Thank you so much.
What a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the ocean. We saw turtles and dolphins from the back yard. The pool was very nice and there was plenty of room for 8 people, without feeling crowded.
The views were incredible the location was great. The home was quite run down the doors and windows did not lock other than with wood in the jams, the screens on the doors were all pushed out, many of the mechanisms to operate the windows were rusted out and did not work I did wonder about our safety we were told to lock up at night and when we leave unable to securely do that. We did wash all the dishes prior to using we found a glass in the cupboard with what looked like blood on it. Also the pool was not clean outside furniture was torn and weathered we were given one bath towel and wash cloth each, along with one beach towel each, no extra linens at all. We did spend most of our time outside and like I stated the view was incredible.
Howard and Kelly. This is our second time staying here and we again had a wonderful time. We spent a tremendous amount of time on the awesome back patio! We walked on the lava for hours and the waves crashing are as intimidating as they are awe inspiring! We are always on the lookout for whales and thrilled when we see them. The house is spacious and clean, which is great, nobody is tripping over anybody else! Not to far to drive for snorkeling, or to Hilo proper. There is a good farmers market, and on wed and sat some great souvenir shops across the street from there. And of course Uncle Roberts on Wednesdays, my guys absolute favorite for his shrimp scampi! We have recommended this house to several friends for their vacation and yes we are planning a trip back next Jan. We left cold and rain and flew into 70-80 degree weather and sunshine! Hoping our place back home doesn't float away while swimming in the pool and listening to the waves and whales while you sleep(I know not that worried huh?) Looking forward to Jan 2017!!
This home more t[an met our needs for a casual relaxed family gathering for our 50th wedding anniversary involving three generations. The amenities, although not always in mint condition, were very clean and the property owner most responsive to any questions and concerns we raised;
The house and the view where so beautiful! We had a wonderful time whale watching and enjoying the sound of the waves crashing on the lava cliffs. The house was very clean and was very nicely decorated with very spacious rooms. Thank you so much for opening up your home. It was such a treat to enjoy such a beautiful place. We would definitely recommend this lovely home.
