About Owner/Property Manager

My wife, Joan, and I, Dennis, live most of the time in an area frequently referred to as the northern tip of the wine country in California, just above Napa Valley. I recently sold my Internet Marketing Company and my wife is starting to wind down her successful art business. We are semi-retired now, but I still manage to keep busy with all my real estate projects, investments and family. We travel quite a bit together and with our two married daughters and their husbands and their growing families. One of our daughters is a successful Interior Architect in Los Angles who is married to an entrepreneur who is the majority owner and CEO of a major software company. The other daughter is an occupational therapist, whose husband is the cameraman for many of the Home and Garden TV Network shows that we all love. We are an active group. We all love to ski, hike, scuba dive, surf, bike, boat, ride motorcycles, and hang out together in beautiful environments.

We are recent grandparents with both daughters and are thoroughly enjoying this delightful new addition to our lives.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this estate in 2006

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Nayarit

We already owned a villa in Sayulita, but wanted a larger truly grand property. We looked at everything for months and finally found the ideal Sayulita oceanfront location which afforded phenomenal unobstructed surf views and privacy. Now we could be above the beach and town but just a block away! We had to do an extensive remodel to really create our dream house, but after all the hard work, we could not believe how much we loved our new tropical paradise.

What makes this estate unique

We really love the location with unsurpassed panoramic views, the jungle garden surrounding our house, the heated swimming pool, the large collection of antique Mexican art thoughout the house, the great sunsets, the cooling breeze, and watching the surfers below the house. We also love spending time on the roof garden palapa terrace. Here we have 360 degree views of the ocean, mountains, jungle and village below. We watch the surfers, migrating whales and swooping birds, and drink in the huge expanse of the Nayarit coastline. This is where we really kick back and relax and drink in all the beauty that is Sayulita.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Our Girl Surf trip was incredible in your beautiful Casa Paloma! Thank you for creating such an amazing environment. All the art and good vibes were very much appreciated. We loved how everything was so well considered and every convenience available. We particularly loved the gardens and pool. And the views and location were second to none!

Just returned from a wonderful trip to Sayulita. Its our second trip and we went with a group of friends. We all stayed at Casa Paloma and everyone was extremely pleased with the property. We all felt how fortunate we were to be able to truly enjoy ourselves, not only while staying in the exceptional Casa Paloma but also the enjoyment of Sayulita itself. There are so many great features associated with the property, but also the amazing location. Just above the town itself. Casa Paloma has a unique feeling of being at a distance from town so you have an experience of being somewhat set apart, however, you're quite surprised to discover you're only a short 5 minute walk away from the beach and town center. Casa Paloma is so much fun. It has a luxurious quality to it with so many details accounted for. The open spaciousness combined with beautiful Mexican art pieces add to its enjoyment. The main thing I noticed was how the property lends itself to utter relaxation - which is precisely what I so desperately needed. So congratulations to the owners and all the staff that helped create this extraordinary opportunity for me and the rest of our group.

Awesome property, premium location!

  • 5 of 5

As I reflect on the time I've spent at Casa Paloma, in Sayulita, Mexico, only about 2 weeks ago, it brings great joy to my heart! The owners of this fabulous estate have brought consideration to every nook and cranny with their architectural insights, interior design skills, and artistic creativity. Every room was a delightful exploration of light, color, artistry, imagination, and culture. Each room had an exquisite balance of indoor simplicity and beauty opening up to a heavenly assortment of outdoor gardens, lounges, skies, stars, and spectacular ocean views, etc. etc. etc.

Even if it wasn't a short and lovely walk to the town where the markets, shops, restaurants, and village square are a bundle of joy and excitement; even if it wasn't a short and lovely walk to the beach where you could be a beach bum, get a tan (or burn if you chose), and watch the surfers endlessly, or go surfing yourself, or snorkeling; even if it wasn't a joy to see the Mexican culture at it's finest - enjoying life as they know it, and genuinely happy to serve us all; Casa Paloma would stand well on its own. I went with about 8 of my dearest friends and the spaciousness allowed us to gather as often as we chose, but also have the option of privacy in the most beautiful surroundings when wanted. We had an absolutely fantastic time!

The owners have truly taken everything into account including your safety with exceptional security, your stay with a manager that can help with any and all aspects of your stay, and a housekeeping service that goes above and beyond. I've been in the remodeling business for about 3 years now, and have converted about 20 houses in this time from various levels of rags to riches, and I have to say I'm quite envious of the owners of Casa Paloma for the expertise they have brought to everything! If I was younger I would ask them for an understudy position!

Best Vacation Ever!!

  • 5 of 5

Aaah, sitting on the rooftop veranda – smoking a cigar, having coffee, and gazing down at the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Does it get any better than this?

I checked out the breathtaking pictures of Casa Paloma online prior to making the trip, so I was expecting a lot. And I got a lot more than I expected!

We were eight of us in our party, and we could have fit quite a few more. Casa Paloma is big, open and absolutely gorgeous! The architecture is superb – open spaces, archways, many beautifully furnished patios, and a wonderful pool. The owners, Dennis and Joan, have filled the estate with amazing Mexican folk art, sourced from all over Mexico. Spend a few minutes with one of the yarn paintings – the craftmanship is world class and it will blow your mind knowing that anybody could even do that.

At the same time, the villa is relaxing and inviting, and not the least bit stuffy. It’s a perfect place to just sit with friends around a table (inside or out – you’ve got plenty of choices) drinking tequila and solving the world’s problems in style and comfort.

We were fortunate to be there when Dennis and Joan were in town. They were delightful guides, and their staff (Dora, Ernesto, and Santos) took such wonderful care of us that it felt like home (I could only be so lucky!)

A short walk to the beach and downtown Sayulita, and you are in the midst of a vibrant, hip, Mexican surfing village. The food is fantastic (and cheap!) and of course, the ocean is warm and wonderful. My wife also loved all the interesting and artistic shops that fill the town.

All of the above notwithstanding – I had one major gripe with Casa Paloma. That is that I had to leave and go home, and couldn’t stay there for the rest of my life! What’s up with that, anyway? They need to do something about that!

Incredible views and great location!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at Casa Paloma in Sayulita.

Our group consisted of 10 adults, one teenager and two children age 10 and 2.

Everyone had a wonderful time.

Casa Paloma is located a short 5 minute walk from the centre of town and the beach.

Because it sits on top of a hill , there is a little bit of a climb to get back to the villa. It is the equivalent of approximately 60 stairs on a beautifully maintain path through a lush garden.

The house is very large and offers many areas fourths who want privacy. The bedrooms were comfortable and each had an ensuite bathroom. From all 3 levels of the property, the views of the beach and the ocean are simply breathtaking. We spent countless hours on the covered veranda of the 2nd floor watching the surfers. The kids loved the heated pool.

The owners have found great staff to look after the property. Dora and her husband Santos are very nice and thoughtful. They come everyday to clean the house except on Sundays.

Ernesto, the property manager, was there to welcome us and go over the details. He was quick to come back when we had a problem with one of the safes.

Sayulita is busier than it was 20 years ago but is has maintain its small Mexican town charm. It now has many very good restaurants. We found everything we needed in the village without having to go once to Puerto Vallarta.

All in all a great vacation in a great house and very good value for the money.

Thank you Dennis, Dora, Santos and Ernesto!

Our family get together for the Thanksgiving holiday was so special-- we loved Casa Paloma! Lots of room to spread out, perfect location, beautiful decor, and friendly helpful staff. The grandkids loved the pool and walking to town or the beach. Sayulita is a wonderful spot and Casa Paloma is beautiful.

Perfect for the 10 of us!

  • 5 of 5

3 groups of our family meet from Texas, California and Arizona each year in Sayulita. 6 adults and 4 kids. Casa Paloma was absolutely perfect for our group. The location can't be beat- such an easy walk down the hill to the beach or to the center of town. No need for a car at all. The pool was beautiful, and the room setup was perfect. We all had plenty of space and privacy and each set of parents could be close to our kids. We'll absolutely be back.
