Overview

North Carolina Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 1 Bath, sleeps 5 and smokehouse studio(Sleeps 2)

The Little Peak Creek cabin is located on 68 acres on some of the most beautiful mountain land in the high county. There is open pasture land, with farm animals for the whole family to enjoy. There are large hardwood forests and pine forests with trails winding all through the property. The trail to the over look offers a deck and chairs, and a view of every major mountain in the county, including the mountains in Virginia .

Gather your own eggs and fresh vegetables when in season from the cabin garden. In the evening the property is great for stargazing as there is no light pollution . Enjoy the cabin's front yard and lull away the afternoon in the hammock. There is a large Bocce ball court in the front yard for day and night time entertainment.. Enjoy reading and relaxing on the front or back porch, or on a rainy day find a movie to watch. The cabin has Direct tv, and has all the movie channels, it has wi-fi. The kids can enjoy the Smokehouse sand box which is on the lower level and is enclosed, while you can watch from rocking chairs on the porch. We have bikes on the property that you can use and will gladly provide you with suggested routes and back packs for your outing. If you love animals we have chickens, goats, ducks, geese, donkeys dogs and horses. Feel free to visit them as you wander the property on our hiking trails .

The owners live in a separate lodge on the property , but are a good distance from the cabin offering all the privacy you want. Their home is adjacent to a pond and it has a small doc., Although they prefer to consider the pond area their private space, as they have guest so frequently , they are happy for you to stop to snap a picture or two. As you pass their home and on the trail to the overlook you will see hillsides planted with wildflowers in the spring, summer and fall.

The cabin at Little Peak Creek Farm is charming and allows you to return to a simpler time. It is decorated beautifully and provides a homey atmosphere. You will want to adopt it as your own second home after your first visit. In the summer we provide you with a delightful kitchen garden where you can pick your own lettuce, herbs and tomatoes and cucumbers for the freshest salad you have ever tasted. The Willingham's personal garden, where they grow their food for winter, is a place to visit and learn about the plants grown there or you can produce some beautiful photographs to document your trip. The smokehouse studio is a private space to sleep 2 and you will hear and see the creek and water fall from your bed! The stunning barn rebuilt in 2013, after a tragic fire, is a delight to everyone for collecting eggs and visiting with the animals.

The cabin is well located for everything you would want to do. It is only 15 minuets from the historic town of West Jefferson. The town has a wide variety of interesting shops, great choices for dining, galleries, and a wonderful farmers market.

There are back street concerts, as well as many other events all around Ashe county. There are plays and performances at the Civic Center year round. From the cabin you can be on the New River in only 2 minuets for tubing, fishing, kayaking or canoeing , The Blue Ridge Parkway is only five minutes away. A stable is also a short 5 minute drive from your back door where the whole family can take a horse back riding trip through the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains . The New River State Park is only 10 minutes away , with an indoor theater and walk through exhibit where you can learn about the history of the county. The farm adjoins Wagoner State Park where you can hike and enjoy the river. Across the street from the driveway is a gem mine where children and adults can pan for interesting gems and treasures from the old Ore Knob Mine . In 2014 one lucky individual found a sapphire valued at $16,000. The owner there can set your stones if you wish to create an unusual piece of jewelry to remember your trip ! In the winter the ski slopes are about 1 and a half hour away, there is sledding on the farm.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We woke up the first morning of our trip to snow! That pretty much made our three-year-old's birthday (reason for our trip). The pictures do absolutely NO justice to how beautiful the farm is. Just breathtaking! There was no way our son was going to cooperate long enough for us to walk to the overlook. So Steve rode us up to see it! How's that for hospitality?!

We had some pretty cold weather during our stay, and I have to admit I was a little concerned about the cabin keeping us warm at night. Waste of time worrying about that! It was warm and comfy, and my husband is still talking about how it was the best place ever to take a nap.

The creek/sandbox combo was the best (well, next to the dogs and Jesse and Lisa's homemade muffins...there's a lot of "bests" at little peak!). Our guy could play his heart out while we relaxed in Adirondacks right beside him, listening to the creek run under us! Perfect.

If you're even contemplating whether this is the place for you, just go. It's incredible. I felt very safe and very welcome. We had no maintenance issues. And everything we needed, we found in the cabin. We are already trying to figure out when we can go back!

A little slice of Heaven!!!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 were looking for a quiet retreat to get away for the weekend. This place exceeded our expectations. We really enjoyed the owners, Steve and Lisa. Very nice couple. How they have transformed the landscape is truly remarkable. The grounds are truly beautiful. We really enjoyed hiking to the overlook on top o the ridge. Waking up in the morning to fetch fresh eggs was also a real treat. My three daughters loved spending time with their 4 dogs as well as go visit their horse, Jessie. A short drive away is West Jefferson; a great little town with many shops to explore. We are looking forward to going back next year to see their latest additions to the farm. If you are expecting a five star hotel then this place is not for you. All the amenities are there for you to use. Cabin is well maintained but on the older side. We found it to be most accommodating.

Relaxing, quiet and fun!!

  • 5 of 5

Our mini family vacation was so nice! We really wanted to get away to somewhere quiet and connect with nature and that's exactly what we did. Our three kids ranging in age from 2-9 years old loved this place. The Willingham's have a variety of animals at the farm that you can interact with including goats, geese, chickens, donkeys, dogs and a horse. There are trails to hike and creeks to listen to when you just want to sit back and relax. Town and multiple places to shop are only 10-15 minutes away. Really great place, great hospitality and good price. We will be back!!!

Magical Place!

  • 5 of 5

I really can't sum up this place! It was an amazing weekend. The beautiful surroundings, the animals, the sweet little cabin, and the gracious hosts made for such a great escape. Usually I'm almost hesitant to write a review because I don't want our "great finds" to become too busy (terrible - I know!); but I love the owners so much, that I want nothing but continued success for them and hope they are able to fully realize all the great dreams they have for their property. I could say so much more but am limited by VRBO word count :). Just go and enjoy!!!!! Just don't book the same weekends we want :).

Wonderful weekend with family

  • 5 of 5

We went up there on the last weekend of October. It was perfect for seeing the changing leaf colors and the weather was great. The Willingham's are the most welcoming couple. I cannot truly describe the warmth and kindness of both of them and Steve gave us a personal tour of their amazing farm and home, I am so grateful to have had that opportunity. He even picked my daughter and I up in their 4 wheel and took us to see the peak of the mountains when we did not find it ourselves. He spent a lot of time with us telling us about the land nearby and it was so interesting. The cabin was everything we needed, clean, and had all necessary dishes, pans, etc. My grandson and I got to gather fresh eggs for breakfast. The animals are all sweet and fun to be with. It is a lovely farm and the Willingham's are as genuinely nice as you can get. They have a great life and they are willing to share it's beauty. I cannot wait to go back again.
