Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 1 Bath, sleeps 5 and smokehouse studio(Sleeps 2)

The Little Peak Creek cabin is located on 68 acres on some of the most beautiful mountain land in the high county. There is open pasture land, with farm animals for the whole family to enjoy. There are large hardwood forests and pine forests with trails winding all through the property. The trail to the over look offers a deck and chairs, and a view of every major mountain in the county, including the mountains in Virginia .

Gather your own eggs and fresh vegetables when in season from the cabin garden. In the evening the property is great for stargazing as there is no light pollution . Enjoy the cabin's front yard and lull away the afternoon in the hammock. There is a large Bocce ball court in the front yard for day and night time entertainment.. Enjoy reading and relaxing on the front or back porch, or on a rainy day find a movie to watch. The cabin has Direct tv, and has all the movie channels, it has wi-fi. The kids can enjoy the Smokehouse sand box which is on the lower level and is enclosed, while you can watch from rocking chairs on the porch. We have bikes on the property that you can use and will gladly provide you with suggested routes and back packs for your outing. If you love animals we have chickens, goats, ducks, geese, donkeys dogs and horses. Feel free to visit them as you wander the property on our hiking trails .

The owners live in a separate lodge on the property , but are a good distance from the cabin offering all the privacy you want. Their home is adjacent to a pond and it has a small doc., Although they prefer to consider the pond area their private space, as they have guest so frequently , they are happy for you to stop to snap a picture or two. As you pass their home and on the trail to the overlook you will see hillsides planted with wildflowers in the spring, summer and fall.

The cabin at Little Peak Creek Farm is charming and allows you to return to a simpler time. It is decorated beautifully and provides a homey atmosphere. You will want to adopt it as your own second home after your first visit. In the summer we provide you with a delightful kitchen garden where you can pick your own lettuce, herbs and tomatoes and cucumbers for the freshest salad you have ever tasted. The Willingham's personal garden, where they grow their food for winter, is a place to visit and learn about the plants grown there or you can produce some beautiful photographs to document your trip. The smokehouse studio is a private space to sleep 2 and you will hear and see the creek and water fall from your bed! The stunning barn rebuilt in 2013, after a tragic fire, is a delight to everyone for collecting eggs and visiting with the animals.

The cabin is well located for everything you would want to do. It is only 15 minuets from the historic town of West Jefferson. The town has a wide variety of interesting shops, great choices for dining, galleries, and a wonderful farmers market.

There are back street concerts, as well as many other events all around Ashe county. There are plays and performances at the Civic Center year round. From the cabin you can be on the New River in only 2 minuets for tubing, fishing, kayaking or canoeing , The Blue Ridge Parkway is only five minutes away. A stable is also a short 5 minute drive from your back door where the whole family can take a horse back riding trip through the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains . The New River State Park is only 10 minutes away , with an indoor theater and walk through exhibit where you can learn about the history of the county. The farm adjoins Wagoner State Park where you can hike and enjoy the river. Across the street from the driveway is a gem mine where children and adults can pan for interesting gems and treasures from the old Ore Knob Mine . In 2014 one lucky individual found a sapphire valued at $16,000. The owner there can set your stones if you wish to create an unusual piece of jewelry to remember your trip ! In the winter the ski slopes are about 1 and a half hour away, there is sledding on the farm.

Picture Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We brought guests visiting us from Italy to this wonderful place and it was the highlight of their visit. Their two year old was most impressed with the four wheel farm tour given by Steven and his entourage of friendly hounds. Our cozy cabin was nestled in a private area beside a creek where my husband napped in a hammock while we explored and discovered many friendly farm animals who eagerly greeted us at the fence. We enjoyed collecting fresh eggs, picking green beans from the garden and building a fire to roast marshmallows at night. The morning of our check out, Lisa sent us off with homemade mini muffins and jam. We had a wonderful experience and plan to return.

This is a very quaint and relaxing place to stay. Love the animals. Everything we needed was in the house. Lisa...and the dogs...were always around to make us feel wanted and well taken care of. This was a terrific vacation. We plan to go back next year. We loved it.

Magical Little Cabin aside Babbling Brook

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted with our stay here in July. We found the cabin perfectly clean, comfortable, exceptionally charming and private.

Owners have left their artistic stamp on everything from the choice of furnishings and eclectic decor to the oil paintings and photography. They have clearly worked very hard to see that guests feel welcome and at home. Would definitely come back.

Simple Life

  • 5 of 5

This experience is about taking a step back in time, learning to relax and take in the beauty that nature has created. We were so happy to stay at the farm. Our kids, ages 2 and 6 really took to the animals, especially Molly!! We took a few day trips to Tweetsie's Railroad, Zaloo's Canoes and fishing on the New River, which later we read is one of the oldest rivers in the world! The farmhouse/cottage was amazing. My daughter made gathering eggs an everyday adventure. The attention to detail by Lisa and Steve was felt in every aspect. Steve is a Picasso of his time and Lisa's knack for decorating in French provincial and creating a relaxed environment were top notch. They were excellent hosts! Put simply, this is one of those experiences you'll never forget.
