The Little Peak Creek cabin is located on 68 acres on some of the most beautiful mountain land in the high county. There is open pasture land, with farm animals for the whole family to enjoy. There are large hardwood forests and pine forests with trails winding all through the property. The trail to the over look offers a deck and chairs, and a view of every major mountain in the county, including the mountains in Virginia .

Enjoy the cabin's front yard and lull away the afternoon in the hammock. There is a large Bocce ball court in the front yard for day and night time entertainment.. Enjoy reading and relaxing on the front or back porch, or on a rainy day find a movie to watch. The cabin has Direct tv, and has all the movie channels, it has wi-fi. The owners live in a separate lodge on the property , but are a good distance from the cabin offering all the privacy you want. Their home is adjacent to a pond and it has a small doc., Although they prefer to consider the pond area their private space, as they have guest so frequently , they are happy for you to stop to snap a picture or two. As you pass their home and on the trail to the overlook you will see hillsides planted with wildflowers in the spring, summer and fall.
The cabin at Little Peak Creek Farm is charming and allows you to return to a simpler time. It is decorated beautifully and provides a homey atmosphere. You will want to adopt it as your own second home after your first visit. In the summer we provide you with a delightful kitchen garden where you can pick your own lettuce, herbs and tomatoes and cucumbers for the freshest salad you have ever tasted. The Willingham's personal garden, where they grow their food for winter, is a place to visit and learn about the plants grown there or you can produce some beautiful photographs to document your trip. The smokehouse studio is a private space to sleep 2 and you will hear and see the creek and water fall from your bed! The stunning barn rebuilt in 2013, after a tragic fire, is a delight to everyone for collecting eggs and visiting with the animals.
The cabin is well located for everything you would want to do. It is only 15 minuets from the historic town of West Jefferson. The town has a wide variety of interesting shops, great choices for dining, galleries, and a wonderful farmers market.
There are back street concerts, as well as many other events all around Ashe county. There are plays and performances at the Civic Center year round. From the cabin you can be on the New River in only 2 minuets for tubing, fishing, kayaking or canoeing , The Blue Ridge Parkway is only five minutes away. In 2014 one lucky individual found a sapphire valued at $16,000. The owner there can set your stones if you wish to create an unusual piece of jewelry to remember your trip ! In the winter the ski slopes are about 1 and a half hour away, there is sledding on the farm.

Lisa Willingham purchased this cabin in 2007
The Willinghams moved to Ashe County in 1977 after getting married and have never left the beautiful mountains. They lived in a wonderful farm house for 30 years and never thought they would leave it, but in 2006 they found their current property and it was love at first sight. They bought the property in the rough, but the transition has been amazing!
The farm has it all. Rolling hills, hardwood forests, a pond ,creeks, a 100 year old 2 story barn and above all it is secluded and has a magic all its' own. The primary mountain view of ,The Peak mountain is a part of a state park that will never be developed.
The cabin was so wonderfully warm and cozy with touches of the holidays everywhere. We loved the down comforters, throw blankets, and fun games. The decorated Christmas tree was a delight! We climbed up to the overlook with Molly and Ella (the dogs) and spent 2 hours dozing in the sun in adirondack chairs and pillows. We visited the chickens, turkeys, and all the other barn animals making a special stop for Jessie, the horse. We sat out under the stars with marshmallows and a roaring pit fire. There were so many stars we nearly fell off our chairs looking at them all. We went into town and visited the coffee shops and art stores! Then the next morning, it snowed! Just a nice frosting and the entire place transformed into a wonderland. It was truly a beautiful scene. Everything we had seen had now changed with the snow. We loved the three dogs, especially in the snow. So relaxed! Did not want to leave! Thank you Lisa and Steve and Molly, Ella and Hank. We will be back!
My husband and I just got back from a quiet weekend staying @ the Little Peak Creek Cabin. What a quaint, comfy, cozy little place! The cottage was so nice and warm with so much charm. Lisa and Steve are so sweet and they have such a cute area nestled between the mountains. We loved saying hello to all of the farm animals and taking our dogs on the hiking trails to enjoy the cold mountain air. We will definitely be back. Thank you, Steve & Lisa for the hospitality!
The Cottage was amazing. Just wandering around inside, looking at all the cool little antiques and collectibles makes it feel like a curio shop laid-out by an artist. No cell service. . . (but they have a work-around for emergencies). . .is a definite plus. We had the good fortune to go when the leaves were just beginning to change, and the views were breathtaking, especially from the overlook, which is a decent little hike up the hill. Couldn't tell you if the TV worked, we didn't try it because we didn't want to waste a moment just walking the property and relaxing in the warm (this year) fall air.
You'll get a 1 to 3 dog escort wherever you go, and they know where you're going before you do. We didn't even move the car till it was time to leave. There are lots of cool outdoors places within easy reach, but we were only there for two days and didn't need anything more than the property outside the door to keep us enchanted.
There are two photo albums inside that you just have to see to believe. They are a history of what the whole farm looked like before, and how much time, effort and love these folks put into it to make it what it is, today. We were simply blown-away by the transformation of an old Christmas Tree farm into this natural beauty, nestled in the North Carolina hills.
If you need a little romantic R&R, this is the place for you.
We can't say enough about our stay. We spent hours hiking and spending time with the farm animals that we had little time to enjoy the beautifully decorated cabin - so much so we are coming back in December! The dogs were so lovable, the animals so gentle, fall foliage was in full swing and the views in the pines and on the ridge were breathtaking, and the overall experience was delightful. We felt instantly relaxed whether spending time in the cabin, playing in the backyard, visiting the animals, standing in the middle of a massive pine forest, and we even visited the pumpkin patch/corn maze festival in nearby West Jefferson for pumpkins and a good hour in the maze. (BTW West Jefferson is a little gem to explore.) It was the perfect FALL weekend. The cabin had so many wonderful touches like fresh flowers in every room from the flower garden and the wonderful spa scent in the bathroom, as well as quilts and soft throws for when we finally sat down and curled up around a number of board games! So well stocked with added extra's made us feel at home including fresh eggs from the hen house! We could go on and on. It was the perfect little vacation. Thank you so much Steve and Lisa, see you and Molly, Big Hank, Andy and Ella in December!
When we arrived to a peaceful, lovely cabin my teenagers immediately decided that they didn't want to go out to dinner or escape to their cell phones. They explored the cabin, smokehouse loft, porches, fire pit and outdoor game area. The loft is definitely worth renting in addition to the cabin. It was perfect for our teenaged Daughter. We called it the Princess Castle. If she didn't sleep there my Husband and I would have definitely taken it over. During family dinners in the cabin and chats by the fire outside we reconnected - away from our city life. The farm and animals are adorable and well loved. Our hosts couldn't have been more gracious, responsive, caring and welcoming without being intrusive. We were pleasantly surprised by the town of West Jefferson which had great restaurants and quaint shops. If it's open don't miss the Farmer's Market! Also not to be missed on the farm...the short hike up to the lookout deck where you can see all of the way to Virgina. It's breathtaking. Everyone in our family asked that we stay here again. That's rare. My friends and I are interested in having a girls' weekend sometime soon. If you're looking for a quiet respite, a romantic getaway, a place where you can have uninterrupted family time or a location for you and your children to run and explore this is it.
