The Little Peak Creek cabin is located on 72 acres on some of the most beautiful mountain land in the high county. There is open pasture land, with farm animals for the whole family to enjoy. There are large hardwood forests and pine forests with trails winding all through the property. The trail to the over look offers a deck and chairs, and a view of every major mountain in the county, including the mountains in Virginia .
Gather your own eggs and fresh vegetables when in season from the cabin garden. In the evening the property is great for stargazing as there is no light pollution . Enjoy the cabin's front yard and lull away the afternoon in the hammock. There is a large Bocce ball court in the front yard for day and night time entertainment.. Enjoy reading and relaxing on the front or back porch, or on a rainy day find a movie to watch. The cabin has Direct tv, and has all the movie channels, it has wi-fi. The kids can enjoy the Smokehouse sand box which is on the lower level and is enclosed, while you can watch from rocking chairs on the porch. We have bikes on the property that you can use and will gladly provide you with suggested routes and back packs for your outing. If you love animals we have chickens, goats, ducks, geese, donkeys dogs and horses. Feel free to visit them as you wander the property on our hiking trails .
The owners live in a separate lodge on the property , but are a good distance from the cabin offering all the privacy you want. Their home is adjacent to a pond and it has a small doc., Although they prefer to consider the pond area their private space, as they have guest so frequently , they are happy for you to stop to snap a picture or two. As you pass their home and on the trail to the overlook you will see hillsides planted with wildflowers in the spring, summer and fall.
The cabin at Little Peak Creek Farm is charming and allows you to return to a simpler time. It is decorated beautifully and provides a homey atmosphere. You will want to adopt it as your own second home after your first visit. In the summer we provide you with a delightful kitchen garden where you can pick your own lettuce, herbs and tomatoes and cucumbers for the freshest salad you have ever tasted. The Willingham's personal garden, where they grow their food for winter, is a place to visit and learn about the plants grown there or you can produce some beautiful photographs to document your trip. The smokehouse studio is a private space to sleep 2 and you will hear and see the creek and water fall from your bed! The stunning barn rebuilt in 2013, after a tragic fire, is a delight to everyone for collecting eggs and visiting with the animals.
The cabin is well located for everything you would want to do. It is only 15 minuets from the historic town of West Jefferson. The town has a wide variety of interesting shops, great choices for dining, galleries, and a wonderful farmers market.
There are back street concerts, as well as many other events all around Ashe county. There are plays and performances at the Civic Center year round. From the cabin you can be on the New River in only 2 minuets for tubing, fishing, kayaking or canoeing , The Blue Ridge Parkway is only five minutes away. A stable is also a short 5 minute drive from your back door where the whole family can take a horse back riding trip through the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains . The New River State Park is only 10 minutes away , with an indoor theater and walk through exhibit where you can learn about the history of the county. The farm adjoins Wagoner State Park where you can hike and enjoy the river. Across the street from the driveway is a gem mine where children and adults can pan for interesting gems and treasures from the old Ore Knob Mine . In 2014 one lucky individual found a sapphire valued at $16,000. The owner there can set your stones if you wish to create an unusual piece of jewelry to remember your trip ! In the winter the ski slopes are about 1 and a half hour away, there is sledding on the farm.

Simply Perfect! Friendly, Loving Animals + Amazing, Kind Host + Cozy Cabin & Beautiful Scenery!
Exceeded every expectation! This quaint cabin has more space than it appears in the pictures, and the water even gets hot quick (which is a plus in my book). We had 4 adults, 1 11yr old and dogs but did not need the extra smokehouse room. Although it is super cute and I wanted to sleep in there to see the sun rise. The 1 bathroom was not an issue either (I was a little concerned how my family was going to handle it over the weekend but it worked out great).
The cabin is stocked with a ton of extra blankets, sheets, towels and other supplies as well. It was perfect for our winter stay!
Lisa and Steve were so kind, welcoming and there for us if we needed anything or had any questions. They were able to provide us with local info as well as help us try to find an old family lot we were in search of.
Ella, Hank, and Molly (the Little Peak Creek Yellow Labs) were the perfect tour guides on our hikes around and just an absolute great addition to our "dog loving" family for the weekend! We welcomed them to join us from the moment we got there. However if you prefer not to, they will stay away. But believe me, you will want them to!
It was such an awesome experience to be so free with the other animals as well! They are all loving and a wonderful addition to the scenery and experience. We were never woken up or bothered by any of the animals. Although I was thinking we might be woken up, since we are not usually around them. But I never heard them while inside.
Lisa and Steve took the time to tell us about the animals, show us around the barn and it just made me feel more at ease to actually try to pet the chickens (again dog person but never really around farm animals). One of our favorite things was being able to feed the horses, donkeys, and goats! Next time I will bring at least 10 more bags of carrots.
The cabin is as warm and cozy as you want to make it, and the fire pit was perfect for the beautiful, winter night. I look forward to sitting around it when we visit again in the spring and summer months!
We hope other families can come enjoy the cabin and farm. That is what we love to do is share it with others. We really appreciate the detail and the openness in your review, not only your favorite things to do but also how the nuts and bolts worked in the cabin.
We cannot wait to see you and your wonderful family in the warmer weather ! You can have so much fun then, too!
Steve and Lisa are wonderful hosts. Even though they were a middle of a Huge project on their farm they took the time to make sure that I was all set with all my needs. They are both extremely hard and motivated workers. Steve has amazing talents in carpentry, furniture making , landscape design and installation that would make Frederick Law Olmsted proud.
Charming & relaxing. Love the barn & fresh eggs!
The cabin is beautiful & has everything you need.
Great cabin amazing farm
Just what we wanted
This is just what our family was looking for. We have 2 young kids (8&5) who are animal lovers and this place was a perfect mix of quiet getaway and farm life. Lisa was very pleasant and seemed to go out of her way to make sure our kids had a great time with the animals. The cabin was very clean and maintained and was a perfect fit for us. They had WiFi, cable, equipped kitchen and plenty of room for a family of 4. The farm land was amazing and we hope to go back when the weather is a little warmer so we can do more hiking / walking around the beautiful grounds. Steve and Lisa were very gracious hosts. Overall, this was the perfect place for us and we hope to be back.
We had such a good time. Felt like home. Very quaint. We wish we had more time. Will definitely be back!!
There is a winery , a farm implement museum, a Frisbee golf course, 2 golf courses,3 state park locations and a wonderful new library and playground along with many opportunities to experience the arts.
