The Little Peak Creek cabin is located on 68 acres on some of the most beautiful mountain land in the high county. There is open pasture land, with farm animals for the whole family to enjoy. There are large hardwood forests and pine forests with trails winding all through the property. The trail to the over look offers a deck and chairs, and a view of every major mountain in the county, including the mountains in Virginia .
Gather your own eggs and fresh vegetables when in season from the cabin garden. In the evening the property is great for stargazing as there is no light pollution . Enjoy the cabin's front yard and lull away the afternoon in the hammock. There is a large Bocce ball court in the front yard for day and night time entertainment.. Enjoy reading and relaxing on the front or back porch, or on a rainy day find a movie to watch. The cabin has Direct tv, and has all the movie channels, it has wi-fi. The owners live in a separate lodge on the property , but are a good distance from the cabin offering all the privacy you want. Their home is adjacent to a pond and it has a small doc., Although they prefer to consider the pond area their private space, as they have guest so frequently , they are happy for you to stop to snap a picture or two. As you pass their home and on the trail to the overlook you will see hillsides planted with wildflowers in the spring, summer and fall.
The cabin at Little Peak Creek Farm is charming and allows you to return to a simpler time. It is decorated beautifully and provides a homey atmosphere. You will want to adopt it as your own second home after your first visit. The smokehouse studio is a private space to sleep 2 and you will hear and see the creek and water fall from your bed! The stunning barn rebuilt in 2013, after a tragic fire, is a delight to everyone for collecting eggs and visiting with the animals.
The cabin is well located for everything you would want to do. It is only 15 minuets from the historic town of West Jefferson. The town has a wide variety of interesting shops, great choices for dining, galleries, and a wonderful farmers market.

Lisa Willingham purchased this cabin in 2007
The Willinghams moved to Ashe County in 1977 after getting married and have never left the beautiful mountains. They lived in a wonderful farm house for 30 years and never thought they would leave it, but in 2006 they found their current property and it was love at first sight. They bought the property in the rough, but the transition has been amazing!
The farm has it all. Rolling hills, hardwood forests, a pond ,creeks, a 100 year old 2 story barn and above all it is secluded and has a magic all its' own. The primary mountain view of ,The Peak mountain is a part of a state park that will never be developed.
When we arrived to a peaceful, lovely cabin my teenagers immediately decided that they didn't want to go out to dinner or escape to their cell phones. They explored the cabin, smokehouse loft, porches, fire pit and outdoor game area. The loft is definitely worth renting in addition to the cabin. It was perfect for our teenaged Daughter. We called it the Princess Castle. If she didn't sleep there my Husband and I would have definitely taken it over. During family dinners in the cabin and chats by the fire outside we reconnected - away from our city life. The farm and animals are adorable and well loved. Our hosts couldn't have been more gracious, responsive, caring and welcoming without being intrusive. We were pleasantly surprised by the town of West Jefferson which had great restaurants and quaint shops. If it's open don't miss the Farmer's Market! Also not to be missed on the farm...the short hike up to the lookout deck where you can see all of the way to Virgina. It's breathtaking. Everyone in our family asked that we stay here again. That's rare. My friends and I are interested in having a girls' weekend sometime soon. If you're looking for a quiet respite, a romantic getaway, a place where you can have uninterrupted family time or a location for you and your children to run and explore this is it.
We could not love this place more! This is the second time we have stayed at Little Peak Creek and we are counting down the days until we can return again!
The farmhouse is quaint and very comfortable with everything you could possibly need. The owners are artists and their artwork fills the farmhouse, which we absolutely loved. The porch is so cozy and inviting that we ended up spending our mornings and evenings out there. The property itself is just amazing. Our daughter enjoyed spending time with all of the animals, especially Jessie, their very friendly horse. She went down to the barn often to collect eggs, which was a treat. The garden is always lovely, and was surrounded by tons of zinnias this time of year. Lisa and Stephen have created a Heaven on earth at Little Peak Creek. And they are such gracious and wonderful hosts.
Truly a special and beautiful place to stay.
We came here for a friend's wedding and kind of fell upon this gorgeous farm. Lisa and Steve could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The cottage is clean, quaint, and adorable. The grounds are something that you have to see to believe. All of the animals including; and overprotective goose, named Clyde are just the sweetest animals ever. The owners have created a magical place. We will be back with our young daughters to visit again soon. Thank you so much for the hospitality Lisa and Steve! Hugs!!!
We couldn't have been more happy with our stay. We had the best time!
My parents and I so enjoyed this charmingly decorated cozy cabin. The surroundings were perfect for a couple of days of sitting in a rocking chair on the porch and listening to babbling brook, strolling up to the barn at midday to gather fresh eggs for breakfast the next morning and visiting the farm animals who were eager to greet us. But for me, the best part was I got to enjoy all of this with my dog! I'll return to this place again on my next trip north and I'll plan to stay longer!
Little Peak Creek Farm is one of those places that will stay in your memory forever. From the rolling country side, to the well maintained farm and well cared for animals, to the hospitality of the owners, Steve and Lisa. We stayed five nights in July for a little R&R and came away so at peace. The cabin is at least 100 years old, but very quaint and loved. The Willinghams were so welcoming, chatting with us when we crossed paths, making sure we had everything we needed. Steve gave us a tour of his amazing workshop/studio, which left us so inspired. Lisa always had a smile on her face and gave us some lemon poppy seed muffins for our trip back to Florida. Our son and dog loved hiking their property every day and visiting the animals. Firepit and bocce ball in the back yard, along with twinkling fireflies made hanging out lots of fun. We went tubing and white water rafting near by and the town of West Jefferson was so sweet. We hope to return again, maybe in another season!
