The owners live in a separate lodge on the property , but are a good distance from the cabin offering all the privacy you want. Their home is adjacent to a pond and it has a small doc., Although they prefer to consider the pond area their private space, as they have guest so frequently , they are happy for you to stop to snap a picture or two. As you pass their home and on the trail to the overlook you will see hillsides planted with wildflowers in the spring, summer and fall.
The cabin at Little Peak Creek Farm is charming and allows you to return to a simpler time. It is decorated beautifully and provides a homey atmosphere. You will want to adopt it as your own second home after your first visit. In the summer we provide you with a delightful kitchen garden where you can pick your own lettuce, herbs and tomatoes and cucumbers for the freshest salad you have ever tasted. Lisa Willingham purchased this cabin in 2007
The Willinghams moved to Ashe County in 1977 after getting married and have never left the beautiful mountains. They lived in a wonderful farm house for 30 years and never thought they would leave it, but in 2006 they found their current property and it was love at first sight. They bought the property in the rough, but the transition has been amazing!
The farm has it all. Rolling hills, hardwood forests, a pond ,creeks, a 100 year old 2 story barn and above all it is secluded and has a magic all its' own. The primary mountain view of ,The Peak mountain is a part of a state park that will never be developed.
Little Peak Creek Farm is one of those places that will stay in your memory forever. From the rolling country side, to the well maintained farm and well cared for animals, to the hospitality of the owners, Steve and Lisa. We stayed five nights in July for a little R&R and came away so at peace. The cabin is at least 100 years old, but very quaint and loved. The Willinghams were so welcoming, chatting with us when we crossed paths, making sure we had everything we needed. Steve gave us a tour of his amazing workshop/studio, which left us so inspired. Lisa always had a smile on her face and gave us some lemon poppy seed muffins for our trip back to Florida. Our son and dog loved hiking their property every day and visiting the animals. Firepit and bocce ball in the back yard, along with twinkling fireflies made hanging out lots of fun. We went tubing and white water rafting near by and the town of West Jefferson was so sweet. We hope to return again, maybe in another season!
My husband and I stayed at this charming cabin for 8 nights in July. We loved getting fresh eggs each morning from the hens in the barn and petting the horse (Jesse) and donkeys and goats. The geese made sure we knew they were there too but weren't interested in any petting. LOL The location was perfect for us and was easy to get to and from West Jefferson. We had everything we needed and more in the cabin and we enjoyed playing Badminton in the back yard and listening to the creek tumble over the stones in the front yard. Steve and Lisa were so wonderful and friendly. They put so much love and care in to this farm, which is their home, that it spills over on to their guests. We are already planning a return visit. Thank you for everything! See you again soon!!
This was just what we wanted. The sweet cabin, the artfully crafted views, the adorable and friendly animals, and the gracious and welcoming hosts, Steve and Lisa, all made this a vacation to remember. There is plenty to do in the area - kayaking/canoeing, Grayson Highlands State Park, strolling through downtown West Jefferson - but when we had a day of rain, we were perfectly happy to sit on the porch in our pajamas and read, listening to the creek swell. There are so many great little spots to sit and enjoy the hummingbirds, the flowers, and the dogs that you need several days to enjoy it all.
I cannot wait to go back!...This was exactly what our family needed. Molly, Hank and Ella were the best medicine...I fell in love with them !...They were the best part of the trip...You will not regret staying here.
We woke up the first morning of our trip to snow! That pretty much made our three-year-old's birthday (reason for our trip). The pictures do absolutely NO justice to how beautiful the farm is. Just breathtaking! There was no way our son was going to cooperate long enough for us to walk to the overlook. So Steve rode us up to see it! How's that for hospitality?!
We had some pretty cold weather during our stay, and I have to admit I was a little concerned about the cabin keeping us warm at night. Waste of time worrying about that! It was warm and comfy, and my husband is still talking about how it was the best place ever to take a nap.
The creek/sandbox combo was the best (well, next to the dogs and Jesse and Lisa's homemade muffins...there's a lot of "bests" at little peak!). Our guy could play his heart out while we relaxed in Adirondacks right beside him, listening to the creek run under us! Perfect.
If you're even contemplating whether this is the place for you, just go. It's incredible. I felt very safe and very welcome. We had no maintenance issues. And everything we needed, we found in the cabin. We are already trying to figure out when we can go back!
My family of 5 were looking for a quiet retreat to get away for the weekend. This place exceeded our expectations. We really enjoyed the owners, Steve and Lisa. Very nice couple. How they have transformed the landscape is truly remarkable. The grounds are truly beautiful. We really enjoyed hiking to the overlook on top o the ridge. Waking up in the morning to fetch fresh eggs was also a real treat. My three daughters loved spending time with their 4 dogs as well as go visit their horse, Jessie. A short drive away is West Jefferson; a great little town with many shops to explore. We are looking forward to going back next year to see their latest additions to the farm. If you are expecting a five star hotel then this place is not for you. All the amenities are there for you to use. Cabin is well maintained but on the older side. We found it to be most accommodating.
There are 2 wineries in Ashe County, a farm implement museum, a frizbee golf course, 2 golf courses,3 state park locations and a wonderful new library along with many opportunities to experience the arts
