We moved to Kona from Minnesota in 1999 and love it here. We're not retired, but we feel like we're on vacation anytime we're not at work. It's just a great place to be. Working with the schools in West Hawaii give us the chance to contribute to the education of our future leaders. One of them might become President, so we have to it right.

Why Scott Jeffrey chose Kona Coast

We decided to buy this unit because it has a comfortable, Old Hawaii feel to it. We knew we'd be happy to stay there or to have friends and family stay there. It's relaxing, quiet and comfortable. Plus, although you have a half-kitchen (fridge, microwave, coffee pot, blender, and toaster oven with all utensils) and a gas barbecue for cooking, you're within a block of a number of restaurants for beakfast, lunch or dinner. You're across from the ocean and you can snorkel anywhere along the Kona coast. Or, catch your tour at the Pier, just a couple of blocks up Alii Drive. It's as convenient as it can be.

What makes this condo unique

The comfort and convenience of this unit is what we enjoy the most. You're near enough to see the pool and the barbecue grills, but not so close that you're getting splashed. You're within steps of the ocean along Alii Drive, but you're insulated from the noise of the cars that cruise along it. And there's nothing very far away, so you can easily get along without a car if you want to just kick back and hang out in Kailua Village. But most people choose to get a car or take tours to see the wonders of the Big Island. It's easily the most diverse of the islands in the State of Hawaii. From the observatories on Mauna Kea (tours available!) or a chance to see hot lava in Volcanoes National Park (which is awesome, by the way) or the waterfalls and botanical wonders of the more rainy east side of the island or the wonderful snorkeling and diving that's just across the street, this is a great place.

Everything We Could Want

I loved this place! The kitchen had everything we would need. The bed is SUPER comfortable, which is the most important part to me. The owner was very courteous and prompt in communication. The location was fantastic and accessible. We actually had a three part trip and tried to get back in at the tail end when we wanted to leave a big resort, but they were already booked up.

We recently stayed 5 nights in this studio... it was GREAT! The price is fantastic and the location is too. It is modest, but clean. We thought the bed was pretty comfy (and the pillows were awesome). The lanai was great, with a view of the pool. You can WALK up and down Ali'i (sp) Drive, which runs right next to the ocean (shops, restaurants, bars, music, everything). You could also EASILY walk to Kona Brewing. The 2 things I would recommend to future guests would be: 1) bring your own (beach/pool towels and also extra wash cloths., 2) ramp up your wifi on your phones/laptops if that's important to you. You can use the property wifi, but it doesn't reach to the lanai or to the studio very well. We would recommend this property!!!

Great location and reasonable price

The location is great for exploring Kona, close to highway needed to explore the Island, close to the airport and close to lots of excellent restaurants. Downfall was the old and wore out bed linens. It felt like a resort until bedtime, then I almost felt like I was staying in a cheap hotel.
