I should have written this last summer (2015) when I stayed at the cottage for 7 weeks. Charming. Comfortable. Quiet. Bright and cheery. Clean. Nice size kitchen, well-equipped for cooking full-size meals. Loved watching the birds at the feeder--hummingbirds, a wren, goldfinches, etc--and a pesky squirrel that hung upside down from the wire to get the food. English garden surrounded by forest. Feeling of seclusion even with nearby neighbors. Comfortable queen bed. Washer and dryer, a bennie for travelers. Lake Superior, about a ten minute drive, was my favorite swimming hole--and they rent rowboats. Well-located for restaurants and an ice cream shop (Kauneonga Lake). A small market and a gas station about 1 mile from cottage. Very close to Bethel Woods. Supermarket in Monticello and Liberty. Lots of local color. Lots of interesting roads for jaunts in the countryside. I used the cottage as a retreat for writing. Good place to work. Owner was friendly, accommodating and easy to reach. I was sorry to leave. (BTW, I actually arrived July 6, 2015, but I couldn't enter that date.)
It was such a privilege to be able to share this little house. Just right for our little family, everything you could need, great kitchen, washer, dryer, wi-fi and netflix but wrapped up in a comfortable home. So lovely relaxing outside in the evening, very quiet with only the wildlife to keep you company
Wonderful stay, fully equipped, charming cottage, and so peaceful. Everything I needed was there. Clean and comfortable. J.Ann was a wonderful host, answered all questions promptly and cheerfully. Though I rented the cottage to visit friends in the area, will come back for an extended stay. Loved it. Especially the deer sightings and restaurants on the lake!
We had a terrific time. The cottage is very sweet, nicely furnished and very comfortable. Neighbors are close by which we liked but it was also very quiet and peaceful. No traffic. Perfect escape. All the essentials were provided, towels, blankets, linens, etc. Well stocked kitchen if you feel like cooking. Clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the fireplace in the cooler evenings with a glass of wine. During the day, walking to the lake, local antiquing and some great restaurants at Kauneonga Lake. Our hosts were easy to communicate with and responsive to any questions and requests. We loved our stay.
