About Aubrey

The owners are a family of five. They own a family cottage in Pentwater in addition to this listing and have been falling in love with the area more every year since 1999.

Aubrey purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Aubrey chose Pentwater

The location of this cottage is on Pentwater's Big Bayou. The cove provides a quiet place to keep your boat, swim safely, and feel like you are 'up north'. Your family will enjoy the beautiful open living area and the beautiful deck that allows for plenty of family time, for both you and your children. The street of Ottawattamie is wooded and quiet, off the main road of Long Bridge. It is safe for walking and biking and we really like the cottage's proximity to the state land where we walk or run daily. We fell in love with the village of Pentwater and what it has to offer. Check out the Chamber of Commerce website for art festivals, craft shows, parades, fishing tournaments, and all sorts of other small town getaway experiences in and around Pentwater. Pentwater is a welcoming community, this cottage has friendly neighbors (if you happen to run into them), and it is close to Lake Michigan, Silver Lake, and Ludington. Pentwater itself has been called the Cape Cod of the Midwest and we are glad it is somewhat of a well-kept secret.

What makes this cottage unique

We love fishing, tubing and kneeboarding on the lake, relaxing and getting away from busy lives. Fish off the dock. Or take your boat out on Lake Michigan or Pentwater Lake. There are many charter fishing boats in Pentwater that regularly bring in a great catch of salmon and lake trout. A walk through town is always fun. There is fun shopping and restaurants without being too big, busy and overwhelming. This cottage is perfect for being active or for mellowing out. There's a table for playing cards or doing puzzles that we have many memories of enjoying a glass of wine, listening to a Tigers game or music in the background, or simply hearing the wind in the pines, fish splashing at dusk, and crickets singing us to sleep. The memories of your summer vacations will be treasured by you and your family for years to come. Please make our cottage the place full of those wonderful memories.

The Village of Pentwater offers great shopping, tasty restaurants, live local music, ice cream, and many special events during the summer. The state park on Lake Michigan is a short walk from main street in downtown Pentwater and has a beautiful beach, pier for walking and boat watching, and beach volleyball. Silver Lake (7 Miles south) offers dune buggy rentals, famous sand dunes, dune rides, and water craft rentals. There are also several quaint cherry farms that offer locally grown goods. One even offers an authentic, old-fashioned fish boil experience. Good Morning America named Sleeping Bear Dunes, only 2 hours north of Pentwater, as the most beautiful place in America, 2011.

This property is nestled in the perfect location backing up to Pentwater Lake

  • 5 of 5

My family truly enjoyed this little vacation The cabin was very clean and well supplied with everything you need. We had eight adults move into the cabin and we all had plenty of room. We never felt like we were on top of each other. The decks out back doubled the living space of the cabin. Our weather was perfect, cool breeze constantly blowing throughout the day. The sun was nice and warm so we were able to enjoy fishing from the dock along with kayaking the lake ( I have 2 kayaks and we were able to bring them with us). We cooked all of our meals in the cabin and we were able to eat on the deck,so again we had plenty of space to spread out. We enjoyed going to downtown Pentwater , we hit the beach one day which again was perfect weather. We also drove down to Silver Lake for the afternoon and even hit the sand dunes which was an adventure ( not for the faint of heart if you go). My boys, son in laws, and myself were able to golf two rounds at The Colonial Golf Course. We ate out at Gull's Landing for supper our last evening and had some great local fish. My boys even started a fire in the fire pit and enjoyed roasting some

marshmallows one evening. It was a very relaxing vacation for all of us. Janelle with the property management company was great to work with. She made herself available before and during our stay, answering all our questions quickly. Again great little vacation. We will be back sometime soon

Fantastic location, charming cottage, excellent service

  • 5 of 5

What a great location this is! We loved the pine trees framing the lake. We brought our boat and it was really nice to enjoy both Pentwater lake and access to Lake Michigan through the channel. The cottage is even better than the pictures; it's really charming and clean too. Our kids loved the loft area and the nice selection of kids books. The two local restaurants recommended by the owners were both great, so you should check those out as well.

Very clean, excellent Cottage experience

  • 5 of 5

The property is well maintained and was very clean when we got there. We took our boat which worked very well with the large dock available. Swimming was excellent, with a large sandy area. No weeds to worry about. If you like to fish we did very well right off the dock catching a variety of fish including large mouth and small mouth bass and perch. The overall experience was outstanding. Highly recommend.

BEST Location for Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved this cottage! Not only is it super cute, it was very clean, comfortable and relaxing! It was easy to feel "at home" but at the same time totally "get away" from it all for a weekend. Loved the big sliding doors/windows in the main room, we opened them up to let the wonderful breeze through the house. The location was fantastic, and we loved having the waterfront dock and swimming area. The water off the dock had a shallow sandy bottom that gradually gets deeper for fun jumps off the dock. Stairs down into the water made it so accessible! Loved sitting on the dock and watching the boats go relaxing!! Lots of sun & fun! The second level deck overlook was so great, wonderful for peaceful breakfasts in the breeze and sunset relaxation in the evening. Looking through the pines made you feel like you were really "up north" and away from it all. This cottage has everything you could want or need! Pentwater is the cutest town! We loved walking through all the shops downtown, and loved the dining! Our favorite was Gull Landing. We sat outside on the deck beneath the birch trees, it was lovely! The live music they had was so fun! They had AMAZING food! Great selection, and the owner and servers were very accomodating and friendly! Try the mushroom ravioli! Also check out Dockside for really yummy pizza, and Village Cafe for fantastic Sandwhiches! There are 3 different ice cream shops on the main street! We loved walking down by the other cottages too, super cute! Just off the main highway there was a permanant farmers market which was awesome, so don't miss it on your way there! In town there is easy access to the beach on Lake Michigan, great for sunsets! Needless to say, we loved it! Would definitely recommend!

Girlfriend's Weekend

  • 5 of 5

My three girlfriends and I had a wonderful weekend at this cottage/home. The accommodations were just as described and the view was beautiful. The owner was extraordinarily helpful prior to our stay and followed up with me afterwards to make sure everything went smoothly. We enjoyed the quiet of the wooded lakeside setting and the proximity to town.
