This cottage was idyllic and the owner anticipated a wide variety of our needs, making it a breeze to settle in and enjoy our time there with our dog. The house was clean and orderly, and we were super comfortable. If you have a kayak, paddleboard or canoe (or fishing gear), take them (or you can rent kayaks in town) - there is public ramp just for personal watercraft a couple of blocks away on the main waterfront. The main part of town is only a couple blocks away, and we walked to just about everything, the only exception being when we used the two bikes provided by the owner. Edenton is like something out of a southern storybook (be prepared to wave and say hello to everyone you come across - everyone is extremely friendly) and if you love small towns I guarantee you'll find yourself wondering if you can afford one of the picture-perfect cottages in the historic neighborhood.
The house had everything you could have possibly forgotten to bring. Our experience was perfect minus the jacuzzi tub not turning on. The house is just a short walk away from downtown and the Sound. There were two bikes provided but they are standard adult bikes, not made for midgets. There was information left about the home and the area on the coffee table, that was astounding to read. It was a fun experience and I would recommend anyone to stay there.
My husband and I stayed the weekend at Karen's house and it was everything we expected and more.We just needed a nice short getaway from Williamsburg and we brought our dogs because they are our kids!!
The house has everything you could possibly need and more. We were able to relax and chill out while being able to walk the dogs all over the neighborhood.
The house was immaculate and welcoming . We will definitely be visiting and staying here again.
My boys and I stayed in Karen's home in July of 2016. It was located in the quiet little village of Edenton and was centrally located to many of the sights we wanted to see. The cottage was comfortable, fully equipped with all the amenities of home, and the owner was extremely helpful when she personally came and let us in after I accidentally locked us out. Thank you Karen!!!!!
The decision that my wife and I made to get away from cookie-cutter, noisy hotels while on vacation trips was rewarded once again during our stay in Edenton, NC! The jewel we discovered this time was a small Sears & Roebuck mail-order house constructed for Edenton Cotton Mill employees in the 1920's. The historic Edenton Cotton Mill Village provided a perfect, quiet, and convenient location to the many nearby attractions that make up Colonial Edenton, the cradle for NC history. The pet-friendly house has plenty of room and a charm that no motel could ever provide. The decor has to be seen to be appreciated. Don't worry about bringing any reading material!! Karen, the owner, has provided many books and magazines that were a joy to read. I especially liked the old Readers Digests!! All the appliances are great, especially the large gas grill out back. I cooked up some great steaks and burgers each night of our stay! You have a stove, microwave, fridge, washer/dryer, tv, wifi, a/c and ceiling fans. You have comfortable chairs and a hammock in the back yard with ample shade from the sun. You can sit in the swing on the front porch or at the small table while drinking your morning coffee and imagine seeing the former cotton mill employees walking to work or the children on their way to school! The large grassy dog park area next to and behind our house provided plenty of space for our two small dogs to stretch their legs! The dog park used to be the baseball field for the minor-league Edenton Cotton Mill Spinners. You could almost hear the crack of the bats and the banter from the players and fans from back-in-the-day! Just a few cars passed down our street the three days we stayed. There's a board walk behind the Cotton Mill-turned-into-upscale-condos that leads to Queen Anne's Creek which runs into Edenton Bay! If you have time I suggest a drive up to nearby Elizabeth City and the Museum of the Albemarle. We also stopped in Hertford, home of the late Jim "Catfish" Hunter, former major league pitcher. I could go on but will close with a shout-out to Karen who was very attentive to any questions we had!! Thanks, Karen, for making this wonderful place available for us to use!! We had a great time and your house was part of the fun!! Kent & Carolyn Rogers, Wake Forest, NC
We stayed at this wonderful cottage in Edenton over the 4th of July holiday. The owner has provided everything you would need for a nice visit to historic Edenton, NC. The home is located in a quiet area of town and permits dogs to stay as well. The home is very clean and the bed is very comfortable. We were surprised with all the room in the cottage.
We had a great time and will return when visiting the area in the future and will recommend anyone stay here.
