Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 6 Sleeps

Nice and fairly centrally located apartment with easy access to both bus and trains. I have always been able to accommodate the arrival time of my guests as I have friends that have been able to meet them if I am working. Therefore, there is a high likelihood that I would be able to accommodate all 'out of hours' arrival times (in addition to ones during the day) in the future. Public transport can be taken directly from the airport to right across the street from my apartment. If you are arriving at the airport you can catch the metro from inside the airport (it's faster than a cab). You'll have the whole apartment to yourself which includes a large bathroom and balcony. The bedroom is located away from the street and right above a supermarket, so you won't have to worry about street noise keeping you awake or noise coming from below. Smoking is only allowed on the balcony.

The apartment comfortably sleeps 4 if I compare to average hotel standards. However, I have extra comfortable mattresses in storage and more guests are welcome to stay if they don't mind sleeping on one of these mattresses. There is enough room on the floor for 2 extra mattresses: one extra double mattress and 1 extra single one-so in total room for 7. I also just bought a crib with a mattress that I've put in the storage room. If you would like to use this please let me know before you arrive so I can bring it upstairs.

Included in price:

Use of dishes and silverware

Clean bed linen and towels

Wireless Internet

Free use of washing machine and dryer (2 loads if renting short-term)

Tourist guides and maps of Copenhagen

Parking (I can't guarantee that parking will be available, but whenever I've looked there are open spots. I can lend you a parking pass which gives you access to all the spaces allocated to my building.) The parking spaces are directly behind my building. They extend around the whole courtyard. Let me know at the time of booking if you would like to lend one. I don't keep them in the apartment (as they tend to go missing quickly) but I will lend it to guests if I know directly whom I am lending it to.

I will provide laundry coins so that guests can use the washing machine and/or dryer for free for 2 loads of washing. If they would like to wash more they can buy more laundry coins for a small fee. The washing machines are in the basement and are shared with the other tenants. There is no pre-booking and the machines can be used 24 hrs. Whenever I've gone to use them there are machines available so I doubt you would have to wait in line to use one.

I have a lockable storage room which I am not using in the basement that should be available most days (please check with me first though before arrival). This is convenient for those guests who have a late flight and need somewhere to store their bags from check out until evening. It could also be possible to store them for a longer period of time.

About Sharon

I grew up in America (northern IL) and lived some years in Ireland and Sweden. I speak English, Swedish, French, and can understand Danish. I love to travel and I'm currently looking forward to exploring more of the South Pacific when I get time off from studies and work.

Sharon purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Sharon chose Copenhagen

You'll have the whole apartment to yourself which includes a large bathroom and balcony. The bedroom is located away from the street and right above a supermarket, so you won't have to worry about street noise keeping you awake or noise coming from below.

What makes this apartment unique

There are a lot of nice cafes and restaurants in my area. My favorite cafe is KaffeKilden just a few doors down on Tagensvej. They have the best cheescake.

The hospital is a few minutes away (which hopefully you won't have to visit) along with one of my favorite attractions in Copenhagen: Statens Museum for Kunst (The National Gallery of Denmark). Admission to most of this museum is free.

Public transportation is just across the street and one bus stop around the corner and another across the busy intersection. Bike paths are excellent and if you are loaning my bikes or renting your own, they are my favorite way to get around Copenhagen. It's considered the 2nd most bike friendly in Europe (Amersterdam is first).

Copenhagen apartment

  • 4 of 5

Spent a month at this apartment. It's basically a comfortable studio apartment, with a large living room/ bedroom, adequate kitchen and bathroom. Although it's not right in the city center, there is public transportation at the corner and it's very easy to get around. There were repairs being made to the huge balcony so I was not able to use it, but those repairs are almost complete. The owner was available as needed, and was helpful with assistance and information. I would have liked more restaurants right in the neighborhood because I don't cook, but it was very easy to hop on a bus for less than 10 minutes and have a wide choice.

Basic affordable accommodation

  • 3 of 5

Copenhagan is quite an expensive place to visit, so if you are on a budget this is a good choice. A 10 minute bus ride from the centre, it's easy to get to your accomidation and into town on the bus. Basic, no frills but everything you need for your stay. A handy supermarket is directly below the accomidation , so you can call in for coffee and pastries for breakfast or pop in the nearby cafes.

Sharon is extremely helpful and very prompt with any enquirys you may have.

Basic accommodations in a good location

  • 3 of 5

Spent a week in Copenhagen in mid-June 2016 and appreciated this apartment for what it was - a one-room/bedroom and kitchen efficiency, which was all we needed for two adults and one 13-year-old who spent the week running around the city.

Pros: The Norrebro location is nice, out of the touristy center of the city (but not by much) so everything was very accessible, especially via bus, which was easy to use (get a metro/bus map from a DSB office in Central Station). Apartment is located above a Netto grocery store and around the corner from two other grocery stores, so easy to get some basic breakfast/drink supplies to have on hand. Coffee shop about half-a-block away. Walk west on Jagtvej to hit other little take-away spots and more restaurants within a 10-20 min walk.

Cons: No real air circulation (fan or air conditioner) for summer stay; back of the building was under major construction - all balconies removed and being rebuilt, scaffolding everywhere and construction started at 7am each morning (motivation for us to get up and out the door), would have been nice to have known about that going in. Also had an issue with no wifi access during most of our stay, though believe that's been corrected.

Know that this is a very bare-bones unit, bathroom/shower is small and with no proper shower stall, you need to squeegee the bathroom floor after each shower to ensure the water gets down the drain. This took a little getting used to, and in the end we took a few funny squeegee pictures.

The good news is that Sharon, the owner, is extremely responsive and helpful, was very communicative leading up to our visit and during, even allowing us to check in earlier than the normal time on day one. The wi-fi issue was minor, but Sharon insisted on issuing a small refund on top of returning our security deposit to make up for the (minor) inconvenience. This was much appreciated as was the use of her apartment in what is a phenomenal European city.

A Supermarket called Netto is right under apartment. Convenient because shopping for groceries is quicker and this store has long opening hours. Also, the apartment is above the grocery store so it's quiet at night.

There are a lot of nice cafes and restaurants in my area. My favorite cafe is KaffeKilden just a few doors down on Tagensvej 40. They have the best cheescake and have many other tasty items to eat and drink.

I also recommend Patio Pizza Bar at Tagensvej 50-a few doors down: Great inexpensive pizza and other similar items available here. Lower prices if you come in the afternoon.

The hospital is a few minutes away (which hopefully you won't have to visit) along with one of my favorite attractions in Copenhagen: Statens Museum for Kunst (The National Gallery of Denmark). Admission to most of this museum is free.

A great bicycle shop called Jupiter is located right next to my apartment at Thorsgade 103 (it also faces Tagensvej). Copenhagen is the 2nd most bike friendly city in Europe. With bike paths abound I'd recommend renting either mine or one from a bike store while you are here.
