An art collector and a very passionate organic farmer, originally Irish with a very very Italian mother
Cecilia Nesbitt purchased this apartment in 1994
my grand mother grew up in the neighborhood, and use to own property there ,she would tell me stories ,so when I bought my first home I could not help thinking of her, a special area quiet and charming, elegant , grand, but nevertheless picturesque and artsy.
We recently spent five nights at this lovely apartment and wished we could have stayed longer. The apartment has every convenience for a short or long stay. It is very spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully furnished. We loved the location in the Jewish ghetto -- a bit quieter than other neighborhoods but an easy walk to all the major sites in Rome. Cecilia met us at the apartment upon our arrival in Rome and took the time to show us how everything worked. She also left recommendations for restaurants in the neighborhood and booked a driver for our trip to the airport on our last day.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to any one visiting Rome.
I was also one of the group of ladies who stayed in this apartment for a month during April/May. My housemates' reviews are my thoughts, too. I absolutely loved this apartment--the location was perfect, the apartment was beautiful, comfortable, fully equipped with everything we needed, and Cecilia, the owner, was wonderful. She came to meet us with a warm welcome, and showed us how everything worked, as well as provided us with maps and contacts for everything we might need. We could walk to the Colosseum, The Pantheon, The Forum, Borghese Villa, Spanish Steps, etc. Our neighborhood was charming and easy to explore. At the end of the day, it was a pleasure to come back to our home away from home. It just doesn't get any better than this, and I would love to stay at this apartment again. Thank you, Cecilia, for many wonderful memories.
This apartment exceeded our expectations. Cecilia checked us in and went over everything including how to work the appliances. She also left us some milk and water which was very thoughtful. The apartment is in a wonderful location and walking distance to everything. We were a party of 3 couples and our son. We had plenty of room to relax after sightseeing in the spacious living room. The kitchen was also spacious and enabled us to enjoy a home cooked meal. Cecilia even arranged transportation for us to the airport at the end of our stay. If we find ourselves traveling to Rome again (this was our 3rd visit to the city), we would certainly stay here again.
I was one of the 6 women who stayed at this wonderful and beautiful apartment for the month of April. There's nothing more I can add to the previous review except ditto!! Everything was perfect. Each morning I would open my shutters and see exquisite church steeples, flowered terraces and people walking towards the lovely turtle fountain. It was just terrific. We were walking distance to all the many places one would like to visit. Campo di Fiori was 5 minutes away. I purchased delicious grape tomatoes from Sicily (we ate them like candy) and melons that tasted like sugar.
Cecilia was very attentive to our being there and was a delightful woman with whom to chat and get information about restaurants...bus routes...anything we needed she could provide. She was also very knowledgeable about anyplace we asked her about and a great help to us all.
It was wonderful that we all were there when her first grandchild was born...she was so excited and so were we.
I would highly recommend this apartment for any length stay...
The bedrooms were bright and comfortable. Plenty of closet space.
We did not need air conditioning, but I mention that there was air conditioning in the apartment for those who might be there in summertime when the weather might be too warm and one could keep cool by using the air conditioners.
If thinking of staying in Rome for any amount of time...this is the place for you. It will not in any way disappoint you.
The apartment is thoughtfully and fully equipped and spotless. Several in our group are excellent cooks and enjoyed the well-appointed kitchen. We found all the dishes, glasses, cups, flatware, knives, cutting boards, and pots and pans we needed. We celebrated a birthday during our stay and a delicious birthday cake was even baked there. We especially enjoyed the kitchen table where everyone started their day and where we could all enjoy dinner together. We also had company one night and were able to seat everyone at the large dining room table. And, there were enough place-settings and wine glasses for everyone.
The 4 bedrooms are all very comfortable and the linens were fresh and changed weekly. Towels were available in the linen closet and the washer and dryer took care of our laundry needs. There is a nice shower in each of the 3 bathrooms and there are hairdryers and a variety of adapters for other appliances. Should you actually find something you need that is not there, Ceclilia will help you find it. In addition to maps and a large variety of tour books, she even provides a list of local shops, restaurants and services and a marked map to find them that we found very helpful. I used the dry cleaners and they provided reasonable service and returned my pants in just one day.
And, you could not ask for a better tourist location in Rome. One can walk to all the major sites and there is also good public transit access and a taxi stand conveniently nearby. There are very good restaurants within a block or two as well as a supermarket, a marvelous cheese store, wine shops, two kosher butchers, and a number of delis and bakeries. I cannot imagine a nicer home base to visit Rome whether for a week or a month.
I don't know where to begin to describe this Rome apartment. When we arrived, Cecilia was waiting for us. On the kitchen table were croissants, small pizzas, a homemade current tart, orange juice, milk, coffee, tea. A perfect beginning. The entry is into a magnificent foyer, then into a massive, bright and most comfortable living room with views of rooftops, gardens and domes. There were four very comfortable bedrooms (the single was small but adequate) and three complete bathrooms. All spotless and smartly decorated. We were a party of six women and it all worked very well. There was plenty of storage space and hot water!. The kitchen was complete...we had several dinners in the apartment. There is a COOP nearby that delivers large orders which was an asset.
On the living room desk there were guide books, maps and restaurant and touring recommendations. I have rented severl apartments before this but none have been this complete. Also, and important, the WIFI was excellent in the front of the apartment.
Cecilia was amazing. There was always an immediate reply to any question we emailed her. And, to make it more special, we were there for the birth of her first grandchild!
Location, location, location. PERFECT! We could walk to just about everything.
We were steps from the Turtle fountain and Largo di Torre Argentina. Five minutes from Campo di Fiori, around the "corner" from the Jewish Ghetto, minutes from the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. It was an easy walk to the Spanish Steps and Trevi (unfortunately closed for repair). There were hundreds of lively restaurants close by, a wonderful cheese shop (Beppo), excellent gelato,
and a "paper store) quite similar to an old five and dime in the Ghetto where we could restock the supplies needed as we stayed one month.
We also found a wonderful driver, Giorgio Colotto. His email is
firstname.lastname@example.org We used him for transfers, a day trip to Ravello, and a day trip to Todi. He is the best driver (he is not a guide) and is responsive to his emails. He is highly recommended.
So, thank you, Cecilia. I would return in a heartbeat.
