The 1770's farmhouse is bright and airy and offers cozy surroundings including the original wooden floors and fireplaces. The bedrooms are distinctive, there is a central reading room upstairs and a lovely large screened in porch overlooking the fields that roll down to the ocean.
We have three lovely bedrooms that are airy, bright and in keeping with the theme of a country home. We have the Victorian room with a full sized authentic antique bed and the the marble topped bureaus to match. The Dahlov room has a queen bed, with original Dahlov Ipcar prints hanging on the walls. The Ocean room is in the various shades of the sea and has an 1830 Himmel canopy twin bed. We have added another twin to make it a great space for mother/daughter or friends. Our little single room has a twin bed. There is a full bath upstairs and one downstairs. Downstairs is a dining room, living room with satellite tv, kitchen and large porch. There is wi-fi.
The house has decent parking and a private entrance. There is an attached apartment on far end with it's own entrance that is not part of the rental.
We have herds of deer, occasional fox, porcupines, chipmunks, gray and red squirrels and a rare moose. The variety of birds is amazing, from all the duck, osprey to the many songbirds including the Maine state bird, the chickadee. Wild turkeys come in the fall and it is not uncommon to see a bald eagle resting in one of the tall pines by the water.
It is rare for Maine to have long, wide sandy beaches and we are lucky enough to have Reid State Park just a few minutes drive from us. There you will find Mile and Half Mile beach, huge sand dunes and breeding grounds for many endangered birds.
ea kayaking is very popular in this part of Maine. The winding coastline offers wonderful trips, from easy to advanced kayaking. You can bring your own and set off right from our property, or rent from one of the nearby companies. We also have boat trips near by where you can just sit back and take in the beauty and wildlife.
Tide's End Farm has been in business since 2001 when I moved back to Georgetown. My Grandparents had bought the house in the early 1960's as a summer home and it has been in the family ever since. I had been pursuing my career in horses before the move and have continued to teach riding and horsemanship along with sharing this historic farm with wonderful guests from around the world.
Liia Becker purchased this farmhouse in 2001
I moved back here to be close to my mother. I can't deny the beauty of the property captivates me every day and my photography has improved to the point I have had 4 magazine covers and have sold numerous prints. The property is an island of an island and just heaven. The property could easily be called a wildlife haven, with deer, fox, wild turkeys, squirrels and a wide array of sea birds and song birds. There is a permanent herd of deer that runs around 4-6 in number and have gotten most of the guests scrambling for their cameras. The osprey and eagles fly overhead, the marsh has many types of herons and the songbirds greet you with their many calls.
I think the comment I love most from our guests is that the house has a wonderful spirit. Unfortunately, no ghosts to brag about, but there is a calm to the property that people pick up on. The smell of the sea as the ocean breeze, the deer at dusk of in the orchard and just sitting on the porch leaving the hectic world behind. We also have a home we are just getting ready to rent that is a 3 minute walk away. This gives us more room for family reunions, wedding parties and simply friends that want to enjoy all Maine has to offer. We always go the extra mile for our guests and it makes for a special vacation and great experience for us as well. We did take a break for 6 months to care for family, but we are happy to be through a rough winter and ready to open our home to travelers again!
