Perfect Relaxing Family Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED Riverport house. The listing is accurate and helpful, the home was clean and HUGE but cozy. I really hope to go back. I have never stayed in a vacation rental that had such a well stocked kitchen including condiments, spices, oil, etc. The views are stunning and the old historic home is so charming. We loved Lunenburg, Crescent Beach, LaHave, Rose Bay, Peggy's Cover, Halifax, and just walking around Riverport. Check out the Rose Bay general store (5 minute drive) for the cutest store you've ever seen with a great wine and beer selection, food, and anything else you may have forgotten to get in the bigger cities. Lunenburg was a great day tip (about 20 minute drive). We enjoyed cooking at Riverport House and enjoying time as a family! There were games, jigsaw puzzles, movies. Overall I would recommend if you want to connect with your family and be in a quiet, historic location just a short drive to all the South Shore attractions.

Lovely home

  • 4 of 5

We stayed st Heron's Perch in late July. We are a family of four with two teenagers. We had plenty of room to spread out after a day of togetherness. The rooms were comfortable and we all slept very well after a day of hiking etc. We only had one day where the house was hot. We never used the TV, and truthfully couldn't figure out how to operate it, so instructions would be nice.

I agree with another reviewer that stating that there is another unit attached would be good to know. The location is perfect for exploring Nova Scotia. Be sure to visit Hirtles Beach and the Gaff Point Trail. We did it at sunset and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We also drove to Keji Seaside park and found the most beautiful beach.

We would stay here again when we go back to Nova Scotia!

Great House; Lovely Location

  • 5 of 5

House was ideal for families with little ones. Adults were able to hang out downstairs without waking the kids. The far room is even further away and was ideal for the youngest member of our group (9 months).

Big table in the dining room was able to manage 12 one night. Kitchen is well organized and there was oil, condiments, and salt and pepper. Nice touch.

House is close to beaches, a fun little store with food, alcohol, and coffee is just down the road. Lunenberg, Mahone's Bay, Bridgewater, Hirtles Beach, all easy to access.

The house has an apartment next door if you need more space. Lots of room for parking when everyone gets together.

We never used the TV but loads of movies for rainy days. Communication with the owners was quick and easy.

BBQ and lovely deck. Ideal property for big families or group of friends. You take a risk renting property. We have done so all over the world with mixed results.

We all highly recommend this property. Enjoy!

Owner's Response: We're so happy you and your family enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure to be able to provide such a safe and 'peaceful' home for all of you. We hope your next family vacation is just as wonderful. Perhaps we will have you all at Riverport House again in the future.

Charming house in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean and the bedrooms were generously sized and comfortable. The house had a lot of historic charm and we really enjoyed our stay. It was a bonus that there was a crib on the premises that our baby slept in so that we didn't have to bring our own.

One slight negative, depending on how you feel about privacy, is that it isn't clear from the listing that this rental isn't actually for a full house. The house is actually split into two "units" so that you'll likely have another family staying with you on the same property. This should be stated more clearly in the listing, as you share the porch, driveway, and a few walls with the other unit.
