Comfortable 2BR Placerville Cabin w/Forested Views

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Come escape the stresses of everyday life at this quaint 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom cabin in a beautiful wooded setting. Once a central hub for the region's mining operations, Placerville, California boasts a tremendous amount of history from the gold-rush days and peaks the interest of any visitor. With a variety of historic landmarks, old classic buildings, and museums, as well as a flourishing high-quality wine industry, it's easy to understand why Placerville appeals to so many visitors!

There's enough room in the Cabin to accommodate up to 6 guests, so this home is an ideal size for a family or group of couples out for a relaxing getaway. You'll find the cabin's interior quite comfortable and inviting, complete with updated stainless steel appliances in the full kitchen, a cozy wood burning stove in the living area, and soothing wall colors. Everything you need to be as relaxed as possible during your stay is here, including a Jacuzzi bathtub in one of the bathrooms with views out to the woods. Step outside to the expansive deck - partially screened in, in front - to soak up the sunshine and enjoy the fantastic views of the forest and the middle fork of the Cosumnes River in the background, which you're welcome to swim or wade in. (Please note the water level of the river is being affected by the drought.) Venture down the walking path to explore the river itself, and then rinse off in the cabin's outdoor shower on your way back after going for a swim. All the ingredients for pure relaxation are here!

This cabin is in a great location to experience practically everything the area has to offer, including several outstanding wineries in El Dorado and Amador Counties. Take a tour of the Golf Bug Park & Mine for some history, or meander through Placerville's charming Main Street to observe its many historical markers that signify certain events or figures of importance during the gold-rush period. However you choose to spend your time during your vacation, this cabin is bound to become a place you love coming home to at the end of the day!

This cottage is located near 20-plus wineries within 15 minutes of the home. Located at a comfortable 2100 ft elevation, this home is a year round destination. There are also skiing and riding at Kirkwood or Sierra-at-Tahoe which are about 45 miles away. Come stay at our wonderful home!

Great cabin in a beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is so comfortable and well appointed. Everything you need is there and the surrounding area is beautiful. There is almost no cell phone reception and NO internet but that adds to the peace and quiet. What a great place.

The property is great and well-equipped.

  • 4 of 5

This is a nice property. It came with many supplies already ready for us and a bottle of wine to drink. The patio is beautiful and serene. The owner's are great as well. If there is one thing that took getting acclimated to is that there is no or very limited cell service and no Internet, which may have been a good thing. I especially liked the wildlife and river just across the street. We would go there again.

One of the reasons I wanted to stay here was the outside relaxing. Upon arrival though, there was simply too many layers of dirty coverings over dirty outdoor furniture. Tarp over dirty quilts over dirty cushions. I just couldn't get over how dirty everything was outside to be able to sit down. Regular dirt, feral cat fur, bugs, bug nests on the quilts etc. I started to peel back layers only to find a dirtier layer underneath. It became unimaginable to sit. Inside was cleaner but also crowded and it was obvious plenty of pets had been inside. I even had dog fur on my bed. A quick look at the guest book and you could see all the canines who'd stayed. Wish I had known. Also wish I had known there's no coverage, no wifi, and no local phone. We specifically came to area to look around but when you have to leave the property to get coverage or make a reservation...what a pain. Even the rental agency sends you contact info if you have problems but how do you call?? The whole place was not my cup of tea for those reasons but the beds were comfortable and we found some great wineries nearby.

Quiet & Secluded

  • 4 of 5

Best place to relax & get away from everything. Creek is just across the road. Water flow was perfect for the kids and not too cold. They loved it & stayed there most of the time. Cabin had everything you need. Clean & space for everyone. Adults & kids had a good time. Wi-Fi would have been nice but after a day, no one missed it.

Great Family Friendly Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed with our dear friends and their two young toddlers as well as our golden retriever. We enjoyed our time here very much, and found the home to have all cooking amenities we wanted. We spent most of our time on the screened in porch under the shade of the large tree and wading through the river, which was perfect temperature on a weekend when the weather was hitting 90 degrees. The river is an easy walk down the property. As other reviewers noted, we didn't have any cell service and there's no wifi, so get ready to fully unplug. There is reception once you make it about 5 minutes down the road away from the house. Make sure you write down the lockbox code to get in before you arrive so you're not scrambling looking for service when you arrive. If you're looking for somewhere that feels rather remote and far from "civilization," this is a great place to stay! We would enjoy returning in the future!
