This property is amazing, both the house and outdoor spaces around the house, as well as the incredible landscape surrounding the house! First impression upon driving up is the beautiful clear water river to the right is the road. Then, you turn in to the driveway for the house and see the huge oak tree, then, the expansive outdoor deck with multiple seating areas, part of which is screened in, all of which is enclosed by sturdy fencing and great for keeping dogs or children contained!
Upon entering, the house has a very modern cabin like feel, with updates throughout. The views from every part of the house are incredible, even from the back, looking up a hillside of large boulders and trees covered in stunning shades of green moss. There's a creek waterfall that runs down the left side of the house, which we opened the bedroom window a bit to enjoy the soothing sounds of at night. Both bedrooms and living room are equipped with tvs, but we had no problem entertaining ourselves without them. There is a washer and dryer, which I never would have really worried about, but we had a sick kid, so I'm so thankful they were there. The house is fully stocked with extra towels and blankets, and a compete kitchen even with baking dishes, pots and pans, everything you would find in an everyday kitchen as well as a gas grill outside.
Now, to the outside! If you're not relaxing on the deck, you're most certainly down at the river! There is a beautifully lighted path showing you the proper way to the river via the homeowners property. Once down at the river, there are hours of fun to be had, playing in the water, looking at rocks and skipping them across the surface. The water is definitely cold though, so I recommend bringing wading boots to get the most out of the experience. But really, it was nice even just sitting on the bank and taking in the scenery.
One thing I will also note is that the roads going to the property once you get off 50 are windy and get smaller and smaller every street you turn on to, so drive with caution and I would not recommend trying to drive there in the dark.
I would definitely like to come here in the summer when it's warm and be able to play in the river and sit out on the deck more, but will likely come again anyways and would certainly recommend it other people!
My wife and I (and our two dogs) spent a wonderful week on this property. The property is wonderfully located near Somerset, Fair Play, Pleasant Valley and Shenandoah Valley wineries, and Placerville isn't far away either, with all its charm and restaurants. It's also next to the Consumnes River, which is a beautiful setting. It came fully equipped with anything you could need for your stay, and the beds were super comfortable. The only down side is it rained just about every day we were there...but being from Los Angeles, it was a nice change from what we're used to. The only other down side is that there only very spotty internet coverage and no wifi installed in the house...so if you need that, this may not be the place. We loved being offline for our stay and the piece of mind that it brings. We definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a cozy house in a charming location...very relaxing!!!
We felt like we were in someone's home rather than a vacation rental. This might be great for many folks, but we docked it a star since it was a little weird for us, and not what we expected. We loved finding a lovely bottle of local wine upon arrival as well as a binder full of great things to do. Be aware that this home is quite far from town, so you'll want to bring everything you need and allow at least 30 minutes to back get into town. The roads are a little gravelly in some spots too. We came when it was dark and used our 4wd in one spot since we couldn't see too far ahead. Make sure to walk down the lighted path to the river. It's lovely.
This is a great spot if you are visiting the Placerville area. The house has large decks on two sides over-looking the hill side. It is well-appointed if you like to cook and/or lounge. There is a short path to a stream. A lovely getaway. Be aware, if you care about such things, there is no internet access.
Such a cute house with 2 large porches surrounded by trees. It was like staying in a tree house. Everything you need at this little house. It was a little hard to locate at night and we had to call the host for better directions. Took a dip in the river and it was so refreshing. Hope to go back soon!
Perfect cabin for us. The river was beautiful! Kitchen was very well stocked, beds were comfortable and bathrooms were well appointed with luxury towels, etc... Also, the outdoor spaces were wonderful! We used the screened porch every day. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was the AC wouldn't turn on when we arrived. We checked in Monday and it wasn't fixed until Wed around lunch time. Thank goodness the nights cooled off so much! We were able to run all ceiling fans and open windows so really the only bad time was when I would have to cook dinner. Be aware that the neighbor does not want trespassers on his property. It is tempting because he keeps it very clean and mowed down low so you don't have to deal with high grass, etc... He must have had issues in the past. With some kind words and assurances that we understood and would be sure to stay on "our" property, we had no problems. In fact, he invited us to have coffee and asked us how our stay was before we left. Other than that, I can't say enough about this property. Our grandson said this has been his favorite vacation, and we've been to some pretty cool places. We didn't want to leave and will definitely come back. Thank you for an awesome vacation with our grandson!!!
