Lovely cottage getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family and I rented this large cottage for a week at the end of July 2013. We really enjoyed canoeing on the lake, watching the family of loons swim past the cottage, swimming in the warm water out to the floating dock, building sand castles, and making s'mores around the campfire at night.

Not impressed with the owners

  • 1 of 5

I would not recommend this property!

This was a very expensive, and very stressful experience. Though the cottage is nice enough, it is old and needs some upgrades. We had some concerns from the beginning of our 3 week stay from cleanliness, to their cleaning before you vacate policy, to the absence of sufficient smoke alarms and no carbon monoxide alarms. There was no welcome package to inform you of how things ( like DVD player etc) worked. It was also smaller than it appeared in web photos. All of these issues, though inconvenient were not a huge problem.

The problem came days after I emailed the owner about the possibility of mice in house. 8 days into our stay I found a dead mouse and bags of open mouse poison in the pantry cupboard. I informed the owner of my sincere concern of my children and pets safety, and she was beyond rude. Actually I cannot believe how badly the situation was managed. I vacated myself, pets and children within 6 hours. I also left the house in the same condition it was when we arrived. I then spent almost 2 days chasing owners for my money . It was an aweful aweful experience!

I hate to think how they would have managed an emergency at the property if this is how poorly I was treated for a situation I believe I was very within my rights to address!

I would not recommend this property at all!

*We had rented a cottage in the same area 3 weeks previously due to renovations at our home. The experience was absolutely amazing! And completely opposite to this one on every level

Great quiet lake and away from it all

  • 5 of 5

My wife and dog and I along with my elderly parents spent a week here in July 2016. It is about 30 mins outside Huntsville and a good 10 mins or more into the small Kearney town. Nice and peaceful and relaxing. Would like to return again next summer. Thanks Chris.

Wonderful Experience

  • 4 of 5

We took family from Scotland to Perryloon Cottage for the Ontario cottage country experience. They absolutly loved it. Speaking as an experienced cottage goer I can say that Perryloon has all the amenities and outdoor attractions that make it an ideal spot for all. The beach is great for young and old, the fire pit provides great evening entertainment, the lake and surrounding property is perfect for exploring. The cottage itself has all you could ask for and more. We hope to be back again soon.

A fantastic family getaway

  • 5 of 5

If you want to escape from it all and spend a few days feeling closer to nature than we usually do then this is the place.

Coming to Perryloon is like arriving at an old friend's house that you have loaned from them, the decor is all about comfort, the house has lots of spaces to sit and if you want to get away from the rest of the family there is plenty of opportunity to do that.

We arrived after a couple of days in Toronto and Niagara and it was blissful to slow down and make ourselves at home. Perryloon is clean and well maintained with plenty of amenities including the canoe and barbecue.

The owner kept a discreet distance but was available for the few queries we had.

As a British family unfamiliar with either the area or the local customs this was a really great introduction and with Huntsville a gentle half-hour's drive away it was easy to get whatever we needed to keep us fed and watered.

We will be recommending Perryloon to our friends.

Absolutely Spectacular

  • 5 of 5

My wife, myself, and our dog Bella stayed at Perryloon for five glorious evenings over Canada Day, and I cried as soon as we left. It was unbelievable. We've rented three different cottages over the last three Canada Day weekends, and this was the best, hands down. We'll be back next year if they'll have us! The house is enormous - too many rooms to even count! It's clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned, with excellent wireless-Internet, and TV with all the comforts of home. This is the only cottage I saw on the lake with a sandy beach where you can walk from the porch, down grass, onto sand, and into the lake. The firepit was a nice touch, and there's a gas BBQ, and fully-stocked kitchen with supplies. And best of all - a full family of ducks hung out with us every single day! We met the owners on the last day and they were a delight as well. I highly recommend this property!
