Our blended family of my fiancé and I, with our 4 kids (1 "adult" boy☺️, 2 teen boys, and a tween girl), stayed here for a week and we had a FANTASTIC time! We went to beaches, biked, walked, and enjoyed the pool ALOT!! We did a dolphin cruise to Cabbage Key AND a sunset cruise with Captain Jack and Kathy, shopped in the adorable, unique shops, ate ice cream, boys did a tour of the Everglades, and we had breakfast/coffee every morning at The Perfect Cup! It's an awesome home that is fully equipped with everything that you would need!!! We made some great memories and can't wait to go back! Thank you for everything!!!! ❤️

My wife and I were only able to stay here for a week in May...way too short of time. The house was perfect for the 2 of us...fully equipped, clean, cozy, very quiet, and right on the peaceful backwaters just a short distance away from the Gulf. Sitting on the dock in the morning, drinking coffee watching the dolphins swim by. Watching beautiful sunsets over the bay from the dock each evening. Cooling off in the pool. Eating fresh seafood in the local bars and restaurants or getting fresh seafood from the seafood market and cooking it "at home". Fishing from the dock at the house. Riding bikes to the shops and around the neighborhood. It's an easy drive to Sanibel Island and Captiva. Plenty of fishing guides in the area if you like to fish. Our guide (Erik from Native Attitude Charters at the Tarpon Lodge) put us on snook and sea trout and other fish and showed us the scenery and we saw dolphins, sharks, manatees , and other sights while out with him. We also hired a boat (Captain Jack's Tours) to take us on a 2 hour evening cruise around Matlacha and the Pine Island area. We took a tour of some of the islands (Cabbage Key, Useppa Island) with Captain Tom at Pine Island Charters Free Style Excursions. I lived in Fort Myers Beach in the 1960's before the age of condos and beachfront development. Matlacha reminded me of that Florida of my youth. Slow paced and scenic. We are already planning for next year.

Great rental in Matlacha

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here in the middle of January 2016. The house is very nice and clean, the view is wonderful, and the location is very good...1/2 mile from the shops. Although the weather was unusually bad that week, with heavy winds and rain due to tornadoes in Ft Myers and Cape Coral, we enjoyed the house and the town. It has the most unusual shops I've ever seen and some good seafood.

Owner's Response: Thanks Marilyn and Bob for posting your review about your vacation in our home. I agree with you the little shoppes are very unique and the all the restaurant serve really delicious seafood. The views are spectacular and the sunsets are just breathtaking. It sounds like you had a great time despite the bad weather. Unfortunately we cant change Mother Nature. We look forward to having you come back next year. Judy

My husband and I stayed at this charming house in January 2016. The view from the dock was breath taking. We fished off the dock, watched kayakers and enjoyed sunsets. Mac and Amy were very welcoming and helpful. They helped us locate a fantastic fishing guide, Captain Cliff. Cliff put us on fish when others were struggling. As a huge bonus, he found dolphins at end of our day and took time to watch and play with dolphins! We enjoyed fabulous food and music all around Matlacha. Did not have a bad meal. We will be back!!

Owner's Response: Hello Terri, I am so glad that you are coming back again next year. We have most of our guests book year after year. I am very grateful that we have Mac and Amy that live across the street. They have been our house managers for years. Our guests really like that they can reach out to them during their stay. They really help with questions about the island and even navigation of the waterways. I agree with you the fishing off the dock and the sunsets are really breathtaking. We have many quests that email us their pictures and we post them here on our site.. The sunsets await your arrival next year. Judy

Relaxation at its best!

  • 5 of 5

Had our daughter’s family come down with two small grandbabies and stay with us. The 3 year old learned to swim while we were there. Very nice we had our boat at the dock all week, very easy to get around to all the fishing holes. The view from the back screened in porch was out of this world, you could not see the houses on either side all you say was the river and the mangroves. Very peaceful! Cooked a lot on the great BBQ grill out by the pool. The bikes were nice to take a ride. The kids enjoyed the park just down the street from the house. Oh yea Mac was the best, he takes care of the house and gives great tips on fishing. I have stayed in other houses in the area but this one is best. We will be back!!

quiet little paradise

Pure enjoyment. Matlacha is a quaint quiet town. Our days were spent walking, boating, fishing, swimming, reading and just relaxing. There are many local places to enjoy island entertainment and a meal - especially if you like fresh fish. The sunsets are breathtaking!!! And, to top it all off, Mac is there to help with anything you might need. He truly is the best!
